Title: game development
Post by: vvs0 on January 23, 2010, 11:11:15 pm
Hi everyone.
I have a question related to game development.
I want to make a small level for PlaneShift but on my own and from scratch. I don’t have experience of work with blender but have pretty good experience of work with 3Dsmax.
I am trying to use exporter from 3dsmax but during model export from 3DSmax I get a text file named “world” without extension.
The file structure looks like the description of objects that I exported as well as list of their vertexes. But after export I didn't get materials and models as in the PlaneShift game.
Are there any tools that could help to get the data structure as in Planeshift during export from 3DSmax?
Maybe there’s some additional tool for work with the game data?

hello
I am not a "3D" artist but i think if blender can open your file ! from "3Dmax" you can export those file into crystal space engine whit this !

You shouldn't even have to do it that way.  The problem with 3DSmax is that only 3DSmax can open .max files.  You shouldn't have to use more than one exporter for something like this.

You really should talk to Talad if you want to see your results in game. PlaneShift has a specific way of development, and specific plans. It's unlikely that your art would be added without you 1) signing the art licence, and 2) having guidance from the beginning as to what you are making, how it should look, and where it would go.

Indeed - the PlaneShift team always needs prospects to work on 3D models; but making a whole map is quite a job for a team, instead of just one person.

Read the thread about Amdeneir (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=32405.0) for an overview of a public contribution project.

The final editing will be done by Talad only, because the map may require specific preparations to work together with other maps, the CrystalSpace portals are "slightly tricky" (nicely said).

In the meantime, read the Recruitment (http://www.planeshift.it/recruitment.html) page and the ABC license.
