Klyros are the second most played character (I know this as a fact.) Yet they only have one model male or female so without the names it is impossible to figure out who is who in my guild without the name tag and mistaking female klyros for male...
-
ya that bugs me i tend to think a lot of girls are guys when they are klrose till i read the desc, or they upright just tell me,
but there is a female modle being worked on i think, these things just take a while, the dev's are probably more busy working with the races that have no models at all...
-
I can't wait to see the female klyros model, but yes, it'd also be nice to customize the face, wings, default outfit, etc. Really, the same goes for all races, though.
-
Don't complain -- contribute! ;)
-
i would if i could but i know pretty much nothing about computer at all :D
-
All I could contribute is some crummy sketches :P
-
@ Drahlion1221: Even ideas about how the traits could differ, in respect of the androgyne nature of Klyros (no mammals, egg laying creatures don't need female breasts), could already be an inspiration for skilled artists.
@ Earowo: If you can paint, then we will find a way together to get your pictures shown here.
-
not a painter im just a sketcher
-
Sketches are about the first thing 3D artists need, so post some if you have any.
-
awsome, i'll draw more then..
-
So wider hips on the females, maybe chest clothing even if there aren't breasts (just out of following social norms and to differentiate between genders), maybe different-sized wings?
I'm a decentish artist; I could whip up some sketches and maybe a couple watercolours to show what I'm talking about here.
-
to add to that, mabey a little diffrent shape of head, less toned muscles shirt is good, normally wouldnt see a girl in a loin cloth
-
Agreeing with these two posts. There needs to be a *slight* distinction to tell females from males. While the males are only in loin cloths, the females could be slimmer in body shape and wear a tunic and pants, maybe even a dress.
I'm just suggesting, probably won't come soon(tm) but everything has to start someplace!

I kinda think it should be the opposite of that, Females wear loincloths and a shirt, and males don't wear a shirt, and wear just pants.
-
Chest clothings don't make sense for females with no breasts. You've got one opportunity here to do something fantasy.
To distinguish M/F, I would go with something simple and obvious (to the human eye) like a head attribute; for example a crest, but it could be more creative as well. A size difference (as in larger females) may be good, but may not be obvious enough. Yet, don't neglect the fact that a male body could be very different than a female body; no need to be subtle here if the resulting sketches tell the tale.
On the other hand, it could be fun if the revealing attribute was only a shape of wings, not visible if all you have is a front view of the person you meet. ;D
-
Klyros, being "reptilian-like" in sense of skin at least, could also be reptilian in other ways? Seeing as there is a (somewhat strong) agreement on that Klyros isn't mammal, we can rule out both breasts and wider hips.
If they lay eggs or bear live young is more for settings team to decide upon really, but for both cases reptiles have concealed genitalia, so the clothing might just be a social thing to fit better with the other races.
My main point, the differences between the male/female Klyros, is that with most reptiles (and birds) the males have certain physical attributes to attract the female. If this were to be with Klyros as well, we're talking stronger colors, bigger wings/crests etc.
Last thing. I'm Klyros myself, so I didn't pick the reptilian angle for some "racist" joke thingy :)

makes sens ^^

 wrong topic. ^^

Well after looking at the sketches that are for the Klyros in the "Races" section of the PS website, the females have a smaller crest on their head, as well as their chin is more pointed and the face more flat (or is that just the angles of the pic?). The wings of the males are more straight and angled along the edges while the females wings are slightly curved, like the typical reptilian wing. And even though they aren't mammals, it seems the females still have the hourglass shaped body.
But maybe those are just really old sketches and it needs an update. :P
But the females will still need something to cover up the upper body. Possibly if it's just Klyros, it wouldn't matter if they had shirts or not. But, in an environment with multiple races, they'll need to wear something in order to probably not freak out other people.
I'm just sayin'. ;)

klyros womens have bewbs, according to the website
if you were going to take the reptile/bird approach, klyros females wouldn't have many distinctive marks or coloring. if they're like birds, the females would be larger than the males.
-
Had these from a little bit ago. I believe it would be appropriate to post them here.

(http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/7553/klyrosheadoa3.jpg) Colored headfins anyone?
These are just sketches I did on a whim. I thought the female should be different in appearance and figured I'd come up with something.
Also concerning the image on the main site, I think racial appearances as now defined are not set in stone. Dermorians do not have the described amber colored skin, and I think I recall hearing that lemurs won't be light green.
-
i think basic textures should have only a limited amount of clothing not like for example ylians or dermorians
-
I see where you're coming from, weltall, but I think that shouldn't be the case until clothes are available.
-
Clothes are available. It's just a minor thing that no one has taken the time to do art for.
I support weltall, if people don't want to be naked, then they should get some leather armour. Or, once clothing is implemented, newbs could get basic rags.
-
My new char is a klyros and I agree that there should be more customization and distinction. I agree with the fact that the males should have larger and more colourful crests. The females should perhaps have softer facial bone structure to make them seem more feminine.
Ylians are able to customize their hair, so maybe the Klyros could Customize their crest shape and colour. Same thing with the wings.
:offtopic: It would make for some interesting role-play if one could be completely naked. *hinthint*

its a pg-13 game, [if you go by tv ratings]
so the only thing to have nekid people for is todllers who like to run around nakid screaming, or a retard running across a crowded feild disturbing everyone...
-
LOL, I don't think we're gonna see nude characters anytime sune, Gavvie. Just, err, use your imagination, if you must play out that sort of thing. >>;
Getting back on-topic, I was meaning to mention customizable wings myself - I've seen a description or two talking about torn wings; it'd be nice to have a visual representation of that. Maybe a few different shapes and sizes for wings as well?
-
unfortunately changing only the color means the mesh has to be refitted to have the crest part and wings part which can change colours separate
-
S'too late. I've already seen a nude character....
Well maybe instead of changing color why don't just have the crests and wings change altogether? Like torn wings, small wings, ripped crest, etc. I know it probably won't happen yet but it's still a thought.
Oh, I've been doing some sketching. Soon as my dad shows me how to use the scanner I could post a few :P
-
S'too late. I've already seen a nude character....
o.o how did you manage that?
-
Nude chars: Never going to happen. Someone did a mod, but iirc didn't make it public, just posted some teasing screenshots.
Talad is extremely against it, mostly for the PG-13 reason.
