Settings question: why does Levrus need the ring used as a base for the Ring of Familiar to be made of gold? Why couldn't he perform that incantation with whatever ring you might have on hand?
-
Maybe gold has the correct magical conductive property(s) needed for the spell? IE: what the ring is made of often affects the spell's effects ..... I think.
-
Isn't it hard for a ...diaboli haint it?.. to wear a gold ring, or any metal? So can diaboli ride drifters?
Just wondering...

that's inconveniently racist!
-
The good old alchemists thought of gold to be a truly magical substance because gold is one of very few things that resist the entropic laws of decay. You gotta admit, that is impressive! :woot:
-
Diaboli afaik have no problem with wearing metals. Ynnwn on the other hand do have issues with some metals.
-
becuase you can't magic iron.
and besides, the only answer that may really matter, a wizard is doing it (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AWizardDidIt).

Ynnwn. And yeah, but that's what gloves are for.
Though, that does bring up the question of whether you have to be touching the ring with your skin to use it - I suppose one could wear it on a chain like a certain hobbit did...
-
It could also be magically worked so that the problems it causes with Ynnwn are magically disabled/negated.

Roled has two rings of the familiar- one from before, attached to his little critter yulber and the second since the upgrade. How can i 1) tell which one is enchanted to summon the new drifter and 2) how do i dismiss the yulber and call the mount? I did seach help and her but havent found updated commands yet. Thanks!
