Post your character name and you can be reset by a GM. THat normally helps.

my game name is Tontow, but I don't See how that will help when the game is crashing after the first load (loading the log in page where you type your email)

If you are using linux try uninstalling openal and post your system specifications at any rate: operating system, graphics card, processor type, amount of ram.
Have you tried running the repair tool in pslaunch?

I am useing windows xp
p4 1.7 ghz
1 gig of ram
512 mb vid card
I click start, the bar reaches 100% and then crash. I never see the log in screen.
note: vershion 4.0.4 (ish) still loads, but of course i get that vershion error....
At the top it says 5.1.1, I clicked repair to update 5.1 to 5.1.1 if that makes any difference......

the last time I played was in the 4.0 days, came back recently and never was able to get into the game because of this issue.
I'm not sure what position has to do with it as the game is crashing before getting to the log in screen....
I hit start, the bar gose full, crash. X-/
I even tryed disableing my vid acceleration in dxdiag without any luck

Try deleting your old config files from 0.4. Such as planeshift.cfg etc.

the config files are shared and in %appdata%/PlaneShift/ if you deleted them somewhere else they will still be there

Tontow, from your crash reports we can see you crash in shaders. Have you tried adjusting shader quality settings in the launcher?

Yes I have, I think my drivers should be upto date also, I will double check that just to be on the safe side.
anyway to disable the shader or go back to an older vershion of it?

ok, I have it running now, just need to get a few tips to get it running better.
I guess its due to the new shader? I used to be able to do 500 view distance with a smaller vid card, but now that I have a bigger and better one im down to 50 view distance...
any advice?

Hi all.
Same problem here. At first, I could play but everytime I tried to leave any of the cities, The ground was black. I updated to the last version as suggested and now I can't even open the login page... crashes the moament loading ends. Can anyone help?
Intel graphics on Aspire 5720, Windows 7.

>:( I am having (what sounds like) similar problems to the player above. This is what I can tell you: I originally downloaded the game via utorrent. I got in, set-up character and played. I had one crash while talking to a character, and was able to log back on w np. I had gone through several of the transition zones, then on my way back from the underworld to the Hydlaa transition, I crashed. After that, I couldn't get back on. It kept crashing at the very end of the loading process. I made a new character then, and tried that. I still couldn't get on at the end of the loading process. I uninstalled the program, and reinstalled. That worked, but for only one visit. That visit terminated w a crash at the transition zone between the two parts of Hydlaa. I uninstalled and reinstalled, played, crashed at a transition. Next time, I uninstalled, reinstalled, had a normal crash, and couldn't get back on. Since then, I have uninstalled and reinstalled at least 30 times trying to get back in. A good portion of those unin/rein's didn't let me back in. I also: tried a few times to use the fixer, to do the immediate update that it says is available, have NOT done the update, have removed shaderchache, have re-downloaded the game via a regular download, have re-downloaded the game via another utorrent, have had a computer friend take control of my computer remotely to try and help me... AND ALL TO NO AVAIL for a permenant solution. Now, it still crashes just as it finishes downloading, but it ALSO will not always finish a reinstall, as it will tell me that not all files have been sucessfully downloaded. And actually, the uninstall/reinstall isn't working now either!
I am working with Windows Vista. All the other info you'd like, I will have to wait for my friend to help me get.
I had made GREAT notes on quests, and am disturbed that along with needing to reset my key controls each time, I have lost all of my notes! X-/
HELP!!! HELP!! O! Please find some way to help, this is making me soooooo aggrevated!!!

I think they need the crash id, when you get the error do a ctrl-c to copy the id and the ctrl-v to past it in your post

I had reinstalled, didn't load the update, and was able to play until it stopped saying there was a problem reaching the server. When I tried to re-enter, I got this message. The next attempt, I will download the update, so you can see the error code on that one.
And btw, this last time only worked, I believe, because I visited that site that was suggested in another help box:

Otherwise, it continued to crash. I am going to do this again before I try to reinstall, in hopes that it will help me access the game (again? cause i don't know if that is what enabled me to get in, but it was the only thing that was different).
Also, please note, that the above report OFTEN says it HAS been sent to PlaneShift. But when I run the updater, it has NEVER managed to report itself to PS!!! idk why!!

LOL!! Ahhh... NO, indeed I wasn't running an old version, unless the updater is an old version. In this instance, however, it failed before getting to the sign in screen. TYPICALLY, it is just after connection, before the game opens in the world, with the progress bar fully loaded.
Gosh, I surely hope this helps you to help me!! Cause I'm about ready to give up!! :surrender:

Please download the new 0.5.2 client from www.planeshift.it and see if that fixes the crash.

A friend told me last night that there was actually a second version of 0.5.2 that came back out yesterday, even though it wasn't actually called 0.5.1. But at any rate, I dumped all the previous 0.5.2 stuff, then redownloaded with a bit torrent, and tried again tonight. There was an immidiate update available. I did the update, and guess what!!?!!!!
I STILL DIDN'T GET IN!!!!!

Those reports indicate you are crashing in your ATI graphics driver.
Please update to the latest version of your graphics drivers.
Please double-check that VBO is turned off in the graphics section of the launcher.
If you've done both of these please post your results.

Ok, we just updated the ATI card again. It still crashed in the same location. The V__ thing was disabled in settings, I checked to make sure of that also. Here is the crash report:

It still seems to crash in the ATI drivers. The last thing I can suggest is to use an alternative set of drivers, the ATI Omega drivers.

Cannot load the new PS version on my Windows 7 Notebook. Graphic card driver for my Nvidia Geforce card have been updated. Any suggestions on what to do would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT!! Never mind! Got it running, re-updated the driver again!
It just takes ages to start the game up!
