Title: Cant play
Post by: Yarneo on May 11, 2003, 01:19:03 pm
Hey, i just downloded Planeshift 2 days ago because i was deperatly looking for a free MMORPG to play :).
After i created my character i did login and after  it loaded which is about 30 minutes each time i try to actually walk and turn and all i see is pictures meaning it dosent move smoothly at all.
I tried doing it software and opengl and lower resolution but nothing helped.
My comp specs are:
P3 800mhz
Geforce 2 400mx
windows xp
ADSL.
I hope any of you would be able to help me because its very important for me, thanks.

P.S: if theres more that 1 server (the asia one) can you please give me its ip, thanks.

How much RAM do you have?
PS uses a massive amount of RAM, so that would be the most probable cause of your slow play.

192 is pretty low on the Planeshift scale for good performance. A decent amount would be anything 512MB and above, although having less would just mean more compromises in game performance. Framerates are low in high-poly areas, and your system would most likely run into some performance issues when you first start off.

After moving around into the more remote and enclosed regions of Planeshift, performance ought to pick up and you should see your framerates increasing. The starting location is pretty taxing on low-end systems so I understand it could get a little frustrating.

hehe, yes PS eats a lot of resources... We hope that time will solve this as we will get a clearer code.
