Every time you see one a kitten dies. :'(

If you are NOT having them, we need to know your system specs and other info!

Or just tell us how to get rid of them :)

i voted, yes, i get the wirdness, at the laanx temple doorway, magic shop doorway, i get one in the library doorway, but only when inside the library, and its all around the sky up at BD fortress, hope the areas info is,,somwhat helpful
-
Not fixed for me O.o
-
Yes... but not always. If ever, it is always in a doorway, other portals are fine. Often Levrus's shop, or the temple, or library. Levrus's shop and Library often appear black in one direction, mirrored in the other.
AMD Phenom II X2 3.1GHz, nVidia GeForce 8800GT, 2Gb DDR3 RAM...
Will be sure to post if I notice it is fixed.
-
Do you mean "after updating to 0.5.2", or in general "since 0.5"?
I could not yet test with 0.5.2, but until 0.5.1 - yes, with several GeForce 6/8, especially Laanx temple entrance (HoM/Black - both ways), Jayose Library (black - only inside out), and DR exit (black - can't see sparkles until I passed the teleport portal).
-
Will travel to Hydlaa at the next opportunity to test in 0.5.2
-
All the doorways are black and my computer completely freezes if I get too close to them (10m distance). Have not checked if I crash in 0.5.2, but saw the black door of the temple and that was enough for me not to go any closer. Doors that crash me: Laanx temple, Jayose, DR exit. I don't get those hall of mirrors though, just a black hole and a serious crash.
Specs: MacBook, OS X 10.4 (tiger), 2gb ram, 2ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, Graphics: Intel GMA 950.
-
the only way to not get hall of mirror is doing your own build and even there it doesn't always work it depends on the compilation flags. So this is a problem with art and should be fixed there (slowdown will be there regardless if the bad data won't be fixed)
-
Hi, reporting back, hall of mirrors are fixed for me at Library, at Magic Shop, and at Temple.
Passing through them causes a little framerate freeze up but other than that it is all great!
Satisfied customer :)

Doorways for Magic Shop, Laanx Temple or Lybrary are all black to me.
Where I do get a mirror effect is on the signposts at the crossing Hydlaa/Magic Shop/BD-Road. Those have a "reflective" surface.

AMD Sempron 2.2 GHz, 0.5 GB RAM, Radeon 9200

Testing with PS 0.5.2.1.
HoM still present for Laanx temple (both ways) and Jayose Library (inside-out only).
AMD Phenom II X4 945, 3000 MHz (15 x 200); NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT (1024 MB)
Xindows XP SP3 german; Nvidia driver 6.14.11.9062

Hello
I didn't notice that effect and tested it at magic shop and Laanx temple.
System stats:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz
RAM: 4GB
GPU: nVidia Corporation G94 [GeForce 9600 GT] (rev a1)
Driver version: NVidia proprietary 180.29
OS: Linux32 2.6.27.29-0.1-pae
Client:
Self compiled with:
CS revision: Sorry, I updated that one again already, so I can't tell. Whatever revision was current the time when the server got rebooted for the update.
PS revision: 5608
CS build options: --without-java --without-perl --without-python --without-3ds --with-cal3d=/opt/lala
PS build options: --with-cal3d=/opt/lala
I'll give an update if I happen to get the effect with a more recent version.

I don't experience it with my self built client in any portals (nightly updated to ps/cs trunk HEAD, sometimes during the day), but I do experience it with the release clients (checked at laanx temple)
standard build options: --without-python --enable-cpu-specific-optimizations=native (for both cs and ps)
am not 100% sure, but I don't recall seeing it with --without-python --enable-cpu-specific-optimizations=no --enable-debug for both, either
system stats:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 965
RAM: 8GB Kingston Value ECC unbuffured
Mainboard: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO
GPU: Radeon HD 5770
gfx driver: fglrx 10.2
OS: Scientific Linux x86_64 5.4 with latest updates (based on Rhel 5.4 - officially supported and tested platform for fglrx)
art is updated on a needed basis (each time an official update is released, platformupdate disabled)

for once I had PS on "long enough" for virtually all items to finally "materialize"... I have a "HoM"-Effect on the surface of TENTS, such as the one at Jeyarp.
System: see above.
-
I have black and laggy black portals on the following locations:
Library entrance viewed from inside
Laanx temple entrance from both sides
Magic shop entrance from both sides
Exit from DR (less lag) viewed from outside
I am using:
Release client because I can't download and/or compile 0.5+ version from SVN (SVN says new server version and I can't get working new client version in my system and even before, when SVN worked with first 0.5 versions of PS, I was getting client errors - compilation worked fine - with not found libraries, even these were installed - glibcxx 3.4.9 and 3.4.11)
OpenSUSE Linux32 10.3 (I can't install working version of fglrx in new 11.2, where open source drivers are slow, are causing colored points in objects and are displaying white rectangles instead of images in inventory)
Ati Radeon Mobility X300 with fglrx driver
1.7GHz Pentium M735
1GB RAM

Client version 0.5.3 after official update:
Still HoM in the Laanx temple and blackness in the library exit.
-
Black effect on Laanx temple (both sides) and Library (when exiting);
"HoM"-effect at:
- BD area
- as texture of various items (mostly signposts, but also the tent at Jeyarp etc.)
-
Wow, the 0.5.3 update has been awful for me. The HOM effects have been there for me since...whenever they appeared for everyone else, I guess. It is no different in 0.5.3 (doorways at the Laanx Temple, library (in and out)).
But for me, 0.5.3 has brought tremendous lag. I'm back to turning at only 45 degree angles in Hydlaa. I haven't had this much lag since 0.3 came out. :( What also has been a problem is client freezes. It freezes up and my hard drive indicator lights up like a Christmas tree. The cpu usage fluctuates between 1% and 25% so it's not that, but it will freeze up for about 15-20 seconds every time I turn. This happens everywhere but worst in Hydlaa. I reduced my graphics like shadercache and texture settings to low but it doesn't help. This is probably unrelated to the question above but still. :whistling:

What he said.

when i had run 0.5.3 for the first time i got really laggy then i thought i'd try and get rid of the shadecache file and after awhile it seemed to lite up abit on the lagyness
