Right click on the NPC and you will see a list things that you can say.
Click the choice that you want from the list.

Easy squeezy :)

Sorry, I left out a step.
You should not need to type anything in. ( Except for a few rare cases )

1. Right click the npc
2. Click on the MOUTH icon ( looks like lips )

You will see a list of things that you can say.

3. Click on one of these lines.

You do not get this menu with a list of things to say then the quest may be broken.

for the few quests that you do have to type something in you follow the steps that rig described first (there should be a <enter text> option)  and when typing it in the simplest phrasing is usually the best

dose extra words through it off?

and dose it need to be a complete phrase?

dose it do simanions such as dark to black?

It ought to be some combination of the exact words used in the quest dialogs. Spelling things correctly is very important. Look over your log files and see what you were told.

how do i get to the log?

it will be in the PlaneShift\logs\  subdirectory in windows you should be able to find it by putting %APPDATA% in the location bar of the file manager. in linux it will be in a hidden directory .PlaneShift/logs/ in your home, note that the period is part of that name and not a typo.

Not sure where you'd find it on a mac.

I know which quest you mean, I had the same issue...

following hints (not spoilers, just helping along, as you did it right so far):
1. Brado might want to hear a different detail (where you got the cloak info, some other feature was described as well);
2. if that fails to work as well, there is another NPC in Oja that can actually tell you more anyways. Just try your luck...

No, not internet exporer , WINDOWS EXPLORER. It IS a file path. "%AppData%\PlaneShift" is a valid file path.

Click Start -> Click Run -> Type in %AppData%\PlaneShift -> Hit Enter key. Simple as that ;)
If not make sure you have hidden files showing and go: Click Start -> Click My Computer -> C: -> Documents and Settings -> "Whatever your computername is" -> Application Data -> PlaneShift.
It's more of a hazzle, but you end up at the same spot.
