Ok, I've been wanting to play this game for a while and I finally got it where the port 7777 is open, and I was able to update it. But Ive been looking up on whats wrong now and nothing seems to be helping. Whenever I try to log on it says that the servers are down or something but they are not when I try. Its not my firewall, because its fully allowed. I'm not sure what to do. Can anyone tell me how I might be able to play on this game?
I'm on Windows Vista btw. I have an account. I'll keep researching but anyone know something that I can do? :(
Error: Server is not running or is not reachable. Please check website or forum for more info.

are the servers on "failed" in the login-screen or do you see some number for each server?

You don't need to open your own Port 7777. You only need to be able to reach the game server's port 7777, connecting from any of your local ports via UDP. This behaviour should work safely with most firewalls even in more restrictive modes - no need to disable it or allow full access.
Please note that the PlaneShift forum account is not related to the game accounts. You will have to register at the game server you want to play on, and reply to the confirmation email to activate the game account on each server you want to access.
You can check if your ISP knows a route to the game servers by entering the following command into a console (command line) window:
ping laanx.fragnetics.com - or - ping planeshift.ezpcusa.com
Also you can compare if the server is currently running on the following sites:
http://laanx.fragnetics.com/ - or - http://planeshift.ezpcusa.com/

Maybe I am dense and a 50+ year old fool. Backing up 3 staps ...
1) I it is finally good to see a version of Planeshift that seems to work on my Mac Mini (have tried to play this game 3 times over the last year - I am making head way).
2) The problem I am encountering is actually signing in. I give it what I believe is my ID and password and the server is saying it is incorrect. I would really like to try this game (... at least once). Is there a resolution process for this or a process I am missing maybe?

Are you sure you registered a game account on the game server you want to play on (Laanx / EZPCUSA)?
The game account does not belong to the forum account, and each game server needs its own account.
The login is the email address you used to register your game account.

I assume you want to play on laanx. In case you have forgottten your password you might want to try http://laanx.fragnetics.com/register/ to recover the password.
If you don't get an email, tell us; some email providers don't work well here (And also check the spamfilter).

The problem I am still having is not being able to get the servers to show up as passed.
This is the first time I have played the game, I am registered and I am able to ping the IP and the URL for both servers.
I am running WiIN XP, vs 0.5.3 of the client launcher and the ezpcusa server is showing as online.
Any ideas?

Problems solved. It was my firewall blocking port 7777
