Hi,
I'm gonna ask question about PlaneShift dev history
One who can answer this question is the next one to ask a question
First question:
What year did the PS Project started?
-
1992
So when was Ojaveda implemented?
-
2004 in Crystal Blue
Q:What is the name of the first release?
-
molecular blue?
-
First question:
What year did the PS Project started?
I dont think 2004 is right. The message board has accounts that go back to 2002
I would imagine that it started prior to that.
-
@ Rigywn maybe you should look closely in the news page
Link:
http://www.planeshift.it/news_1992-2000.html
you'll see about PS 2D
@Hthrothbert
nope it's not Molecular Blue something like PS 0.1's Acronym
http://pswiki.xordan.com can provide some info
OR
http://www.planeshift.it/
search in the older news
P.S Geoni answered my first question 1992
and 3D Version is in 2000 or 2001
-
If you mean the first release of PlaneShift as 3D game - then it is "Atomic Blue".
Rigwyn: You skipped Geoni's answer to the first question, and the second question in reply - so you thought that the answer to the second question might not belong to the first question...
-
Good catch Ligh !
-
Waiting for another question from LigH
-
Which was the first company Luca contacted already in an earlier stage of the PlaneShift development?
-
One of the biggest communication company in Italy in that time
if it's correct then
Q:What is the most important expo in Italy
-
Tirion:
You could even find a name in the PlaneShift2D page of PSWiki...
-
Galactica.
Q: What major event (plus one "distraction" :P) resulted in a lull in PlaneShift's development?
/me gets overly excited and guesses "Y2K Hysteria!"
/me then seems to realize that he just tried to answer his own question... and still got it wrong.
-
I think An April Fool joke at 2004
I'M really suprised when i look at the news
It says that PS is going to be replaced by first person action game
morale of the team are low
see:
http://www.planeshift.it/news_2004.html
-
Is it Right?
-
No, it was surely rather targeted to 1998-2000, when the company which was expected to sign a commercial contract exchanged most of their management and canceled all relations to PlaneShift.

-
Another question LigH?
-
/me looks somewhat confused.
-
LigH can you give other question please
-
Okay - a harder question:
In which era did PlaneShift introduce in-game minigames? ("Era" ~ codename "*** Blue")
-
LigH is right about the 1998-2000 era, of course, and the notable "distraction" was girls. :P I just liked that excuse and had to throw it in there... after all, even "gods" are only human.
-
@ligh as that not steel blue??
-
Hrothbert: Wrong era, sorry.
-
Maybe Crystal Blue
or maybe MB (Molecular Blue)
New Rule: You can use acronyms
-
"Maybe" is lame... ;) -- Quote sources!
-
Haha..... ;D
PS CB VER 0.3.016
is it right? :)
-
Yes - already in the late "Crystal Blue" era.
-
NEXT Q
When was Klyros Model added and what version+Acronym
-
I'll ease the question:
NO ACRONYM ON MY QUESTION ABOUT THE KLYROS MODEL!!!!!!!
-
Crystal Blue version 0.3.007 (Feb. 2005).
__
Assuming I am right (Source: PSWiki - Crystal Blue) ... next question:
Who worked on a first serious draft of board, pieces and rules of an in-game minigame? (Hint: At least 4 names are expected.)
-
So, too hard? - He, there are not too many in-game minigames mentioned yet. Even if some are only played by NPCs so far...
-
Wasn't it Bereror who initially implemented the checkers-like game? I know DaveB works on it these days and expanded it greatly into the general "minigames" system.
The first one who really thought up the rules and "lore" of a minigame was Kerol with his Groffeltoe.
-
"Kerol" is a good hint. But it is not "Groffeltoe".
-
Uhm, pff. Not sure. Perhaps Acissej or Uyaem was involved?
-
Too complicated, probably...
Octarch's Chess (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=23540.0) - played by Meoeor and Vaieund at the camp fire near the Eagle Bronze Doors fortress.
Developed around 4 years ago already. Unfortunately, links are broken now...
I worked out this minigame idea for PS the last few days with help by some friends (Seperot, Kanalal and Nilrem, mainly).
Open round. First one to ask a new question.
-
Name in order of succession the forum names of the people that have held the head global moderator title since the forums were migrated to their current home.
:P
-
First - neko kyouran
Last - neko kyouran
-
First - neko kyouran
Last - neko kyouran
incorrect!
-
heh, i'm in a quiz :P
-
I am really not certain if I understand your question correctly at all, neko... I have no idea how to check since when someone is moderator, and with which level. I could assume that admins are global mods too...
-

:P
Hmm, not exactly sure, but here goes:
Moogie
Karyuu
Neko
Sanchez (he temporarily replaced Neko while he was gone, not sure of the name but it was like Sanchez :P )
Neko
-
the hell's a global moderator anyway? i thought neko was a peon mod. :-X
-
Close enough!
To get the correct answer, you first had to analyze the question.
Now if I hadn't put the 'to their current home' in there, then you'd have to go back to the boards we had before they were migrated and taken ownership over by ACraig in 2002. But since that is there, 'current home' would be when things were migrated to SMF based code. That happened in 2006. There was also the migration in 2004, but at that time, it was migrated to a php based board.
Now that you know what time frame you are working with, you simply had to be someone that had been around form that time through now, who actually remembered that odd bit of history. Since Tom's definitely a stalker cause all forum moderators are such q-t-pies, including myself of course, of course he would know the answer.
The full order of succession was:
Moogs during the transition, who was retiring at that time anyways, so it passed to Kary, who was second in command. Kary initially promoted Santiago as well to help her out with things. I was just a regular mod at the time.
San moved on after a little while, leaving just me and kary. When kary stepped down, I was promoted.
A little time afterward, we also promoted Xillix and Kerol to global mod position. Also Mord was helping out with things, but never was global mod.
When I took a break for a 3-6 month period two years ago due to my parents getting in a car accident, Xillix and Mord pretty much took over. I came back after things got taken care of in my rl, and have been in the global mod position since.
Xillix and Kerol have since moved on as well, so at the current time, I hold the only global mod position.
So, Tom, I guess your question eh?
I am really not certain if I understand your question correctly at all, neko... I have no idea how to check since when someone is moderator, and with which level. I could assume that admins are global mods too...
It's simple actually. Click on the user details to get a full list of the user accounts created on these forums and sort by the position field:
http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?action=mlist;sort=ID_GROUP;start=0
Now, that has been cleaned up some in the last little bit, so it's much more up to date as well.
the hell's a global moderator anyway? i thought neko was a peon mod. :-X
A global mod is a mod that has access to see and perform moderator actions in all sections of the forums. A regular moderator is assigned to certain sections, and only has the ability to perform moderator based actions in just those sections.
Think of a regular mod as an engineer/techie, whereas a global mod is the supervisor in charge of them all.
And of course, the admin staff has access to everything as well, but they also have access to admin based actions, like adding in forum sections, assigning forum accounts to the appropriate positions, banning troublemakers, etc. So in my above example, the admins are the big shots making the high level decisions for the company.
:)
-
So for continuity's sake, let's allow ThomPhoenix posting a new question?
-
Haha, I messed up the order and Santiago's name, but close enough indeed :D
New question:
Which PlaneShift developer held a presentation about PlaneShift for a big internet company?
To Answer: the developer's name and the company's name.
Bonus: Year and link to video ;)
-
Hmm ... if you didn't write "internet company", I would have expected Luca Pancallo's presentation of PlaneShift at the Crystal Space Conference 2006. I believe I was there to follow "Him" into the Laanx temple.
But you probably mean the Google Tech Talk (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=33875.0) instead, where Vengeance presents PlaneShift (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKSYJYV_RGs) in the year 2008.
-
Full points for LigH! :D
-
Alright, then ...
What did PlaneShift Players do before combat was implemented? ... :o ... Yes, swords and their use did not always exist!
Hint: It is still one option in the verbose Character Creation process.
-
Flirt with Kada, moogs, Kary........
:P
-
That too ... but I mean a kind of competition for the masses - somewhere between hobby and job.
-
Crystal running, I think it was called. I wasn't around in that period :sorcerer:
-
That's right. I arrived later as well - but I heard that once crystals appeared randomly in those days, and collecting them quickly was not easy.
-
In which release was it possible for weather to "fade in all spiffy-like"?
This one shouldn't be too hard...
-
That's right. I arrived later as well - but I heard that once crystals appeared randomly in those days, and collecting them quickly was not easy.
Very true. And if you had collected enough crystals you could go to a website to buy objects such as swords. The old days! :P
In which release was it possible for weather to "fade in all spiffy-like"?
This one shouldn't be too hard...
Well, technically weather was present with fading-in and all in the Molecular Blue release. It even had puddles that would form in the streets. Problem was that it also lagged 99% of the people to death, so it was rewritten at some point. So if you mean when weather with fading-in was present in the Crystal Blue releases, I'll leave that to someone else to look up ;)
-
"fade in all spiffy-like"?
This is a direct quote, just look and thou shalt find.
-
In which release was it possible for weather to "fade in all spiffy-like"?
This one shouldn't be too hard...
0.3.017
i cheated :3
-
I said it was easy...
Thats correct, by the way
-
Sarras: Your turn!
-
i thought someone else would have gone when i hadn't posted after 3 weeks...
what's big, hairy, and spiky?
-
And how is that related to "PlaneShift History"?...
Hmm, possibly an additional question to make it matching to the topic: "Since when does PS have texture variants of ^^?"
-
since when did PS have texture variants of something big, hairy, and spiky (i don't mean a punk sasquatch)?
-
2007.07.11: "Made available variations of many creatures" - including the Ulbernaut you probably mean, having Maulbernauts then, and also Vilenauts and Maulberlords today.
Correct?
-
DING DING DING
you win, sir!
-
The female Ynnwn model was the first to have a special feature implemented which most women spend much more efforts in than men. Which, and in which PS version?
-
Steel blue?
-
Not really a matching answer to either of both questions.
If you found the place where the answer is documented, you will also find a version number close to it.
-
hair, 0.3.018
-
That's right... more exactly: "Different hair styles". -- Where is Madame Snorial, by the way?!
Your turn, Drey.
