When I finish downloading the update, the window shuts down without an error message with the update uninstalled. The console reported "md5sum of updater.zip does not match correct md5sum" how do I fix this?
-
try with
pslaunch --repair
from the console, or click "repair" from launcher GUI

Same problem here...
I even tried running the updater, and also tried re-downloading the client itself, but nothing's working :(
-
This same thing happened with a previous update and this fixed it for me:
Running the updater appears to start working up until it just quits. After it quit I looked inside the PS folder and saw that a new file was there named pslaunchmacosx.zip. Well, I unzipped it and took out the new files inside and replaced the old files of the same names and locations in my original PS folder. They were: pslaunch.app, pslaunch.zip (insiide Art folder), and pslaunch.xml (inside the data, gui folder). Then I started the new pslaunch.app, and it just checked files and said everything's good :)
Then PS started like usual except for the new skylab server showing up instead of fragnetics. I only was logged for about 5 min, but it seemed smooth and no lag from here on east coast of USA.
Apparently, the new server is down right now, just got a server failed so came here to forums. Oh, I have 10.5.3 Mac.

Thanks Dannae

This is not a "MacOS specific problem". Lots of people complain about the update not working due wrong MD5 checksums.
-
Where'd you find those files Dannae? I can't seem to locate them..
-
For people who have problem with updating, you can download these files manually (these are different for each system so download the one corresponding to your system) and unpack them to the correct location. For people who had no problem with Laanx server before the server change to SkyLab, it should be enough just to replace the the servers.xml file (but it will not fix the updater).
Here is the page I did for easy download of these files for people with update problem: http://sxc.own.cz/ps_updates.html (http://sxc.own.cz/ps_updates.html)

I just tried re-downloading the client AGAIN...still not working, it still is searching for the Fragnetics server, and the updater tells me to restart the program as an admin...
Can't access that site either, stf... :'(
-
Fragnetics is no more (for us mere mortals).
Long live Skynet \\o//

Caraick are you running the game from the dmg you downloaded? If you are then move the planeshift folder from the dmg and move it into your applications folder and run the game from there. Once you start running the game from your application folder you should be able to download the update and the issue of running as admin goes away.
-
And where is the Server.xml file?
(Win32)
-
Lol Sarva, I just figured that out... check my server bug fix post... *sings Hallelujah chorus* :D
And Tirion, the server.xml file should be in your data folder i think... Not on my laptop currently, so i can't check for you :(
-
@Tirion:
If you installed PlaneShift in the default directory, the server.xml on windows is in
C:\Program Files\PlaneShift\data
(isn't this the mac section?)

This is not a MacOSX Specific problem
@Caraick NP :)

Well, try it in another day time, it's sometimes heavy used server and then it's very slow. If it will not work for you, contact me over IRC (cz1stf) in #planeshift channel

Thanks for the help stf :)
I got onto the server fine after fixing up the admin issue i was having (see my other post in this forum)
But thanks for the offer to help, I'll probably end up taking you up on it! :)

I tried it again today, and it worked again today - install 0.5.3 and let pslaunch update before starting the game.
If pslaunch lists the server "testing.xordan.com", it is probably the slowest - abort it and try again until any other server is used.
