Title: The Delightful People on Planet Earth
Post by: Geoni on May 17, 2010, 04:08:52 pm
So, I've got a weird person story.

Last year, there was this kid who would run through the hallways of the school. Now, I'm not against running, but when you run into me and we start dancing because I don't know where to go and neither do you, then we've got a problem. So after a half-minute of juking I was ready to get through the damn hallways. I never saw that kid again for the rest of my freshman year.

Well, he has returned, being weirder than ever. I'm walking down the stairwell, starting from the third floor. I notice it is this same child, the one who keeps twitching his head back and forth for some reason. I watch his head, rocking back and forth as I try and push past the idiots who don't know what side of the stairs to use when they are going up, and the kid starts shaking his shoulders about. OK, I know he can dance, I learned that last year in the hallway, but at this point in time I assumed he was just showing off. I watch him with careful eyes, and suddenly, he whips out a laser pointer, letting the little dot buzz around on the white brick wall. I watch him as he watches the dot, buzzing about on the wall, his eyes twitching around in their sockets. People laugh, but me, no. I pass by him in anger. "What a show off!" I think to myself as I push my way down the rest of the stairwell.

Now, two weeks later, I'm walking through the annex of the school, and suddenly, out of nowhere, a hand comes into my face, almost hitting me, and I hear a loud voice say "Eyuugs!"

It was him.  :@#\

So, that was my weird person story, tell me yours.

nobody needs to save the animals from metor extinction, how do you think alligators and dragonflies survived going exctinct? and all the other animals today? they all survived as animals in long ago days in the jurassic, when they survived they evolved eventually into what we have today, if we were gone, forests would eventually grow back and the animals would have more and more places to live, lets face it, humans suck XD

That is not very optimistic. You should try and have hope for humans, that people can change for the better.  :D

There are other things that should be wiped off the planet too, like viruses, which are very similar to the everyday human right now. But I think we can change from our plagued ways.

Have some hope for the human race. We might be misery incarnate but with a little goodwill and some understanding we tend to shine now and again.

today i scared everyone out a pool at a party when i chased them with a handful of beetles. xD and no one would go back in. i'm delightfully immature.

I'd comment on beetle-handling, except that I once chased my sister, who hates fish, around with a frozen dead one for the lulz (she screamed xD), so that'd make me kind of a hypocrite. >_>;

Last night...a beetle that looked like a cockroach came from out of my shirt and was crawling on my neck. When I found it I was like "Ugh!" and then it came back periodically to stare at me. Kinda freaky, but I get over such things, just like I can get over some of the bad things humans can do.

@Sarras: Only you, Sarras...only you.

Humans CANT get better, from the start of people when we evolved from african gorillas, humans have been getting worse and worse, on one side, there is the constant building of weapons that can pretty much destroy the world, on another side, there is the constant killing of compltely random animals, for all to do but fun, [humans are the only animal on earth who kill for fun btw] there is also the constant need to cut down every plant known to man, thehn there is the territorials trying to take over other contries, and there is also just the fact that people are so slutty, they just keep breeding and breeding, which cuased there to be so many of us, which is speeding up the worlds destruction anyway..

Wolves, Coyotes, some cats also kill for sport.

Most humans kill primarily out of necessity, not for the lulz.  And I know it's a commonplace meme that we're the only ones who ever hunt for pleasure, but that's very hard to prove, since we can't exactly ask other animals what their motivation is  ;)   We certainly don't seem to be the only animals who can get pleasure out of killing, judging from some of the stories we've got about dolphins.

@earowo

sounds like just about every other animal on planet earth!

there is something wrong with the constant building of WMDs, but that's what happens with an intelligent race.
humans are not the only animals that kill for fun. you know nothing of animals if you can say that. honestly, i don't see anything wrong with killing for fun in some cases.
we kind of need to cut down trees, earowo. but it's true that trees are cut down too often in some places. there are people trying to stop that.
most animals are territorial. i'm territorial. you're territorial. my dog is territorial. those evil diving birds are territorial. there's nothing bad about that. it's in our nature.
all animals are "slutty". they like to breed. it's natural. the world may be overpopulated some day, but there are countries like PRC trying to stop that. i don't think overpopulation will kill the world, anyway.

did you think humans could be only pure and compassionate beings, and had that idea crumble, leaving you confused and angry? is that what you're about?

You people seem to forget that brains are variable and genetics are chaotic. This can get better or worse almost randomly, but we are currently getting better as a species because of education and the internet (don't laugh).

 i'm territorial.

How are you territorial sarras? Do you protect the stacks of newspapers you hoard from being burned?  :P

I'm laughing cause you tell me not to.  ;D

1) When it comes to getting better, Nivm is right, we are educating ourselves as a world through the internet and slowly coming to comprehend more than we ever have.

2) Yeah, hunting is bad and unnecessary for us humans, and our meat diets have gone way out of control (especially us Americans) There needs to be great reform in the slaughter houses and the food business, and not reform as in "lets make bigger and bustier chickens". When it comes to killing animals it's also in our nature as well. We are omnivorous and it's only natural that some of us eat meat on a regular basis. If you decide to become vegetarian like I have, you'll need plenty of protein and a special diet, which is a hassle. That is why most people still eat meat.

3) Humans are definitly not the only animal who kills for fun. There are so many animals that kill for sport, and I don't want to research and list how many, because it would take WAY too long.

4) When it comes to us overbreeding, yeah, we are. Everybody should adopt a similar rule to China, except it should be a limit of 2 children, not 1. That way you replace the parents.

5) The cutting down of trees for land will stop only if our population as humans growth does. When that happens, if that happens, we'll need tree farms, or to make arboretums. There are so many people out there for natural preservation, and I think we will be fine.

Another problem with the large population and growth is the fact that it is focused in unindustialized countries; the ones where birth control laws and methods could not be enforced if they were created. Heh, it would be entertaining if the rest of the world copied the inherently stressful environment of Russia and gained negative growth the same.

Currently the majority environmentalists base their decisions off of emotional appeal. As long as they do so, they wont help very much, and not enough to undo damage or stop it. There is (in my area at least) a rather large faction that are "anti-environmental" just because the environmentalists demand they change; even if they are in agreement.
Also, we currently [redacted] on the global imbalance issue. We've currently reached a point of no return, in that nothing we (those who care) can do will stop the mini-apocalypse. There's also a fairly high chance that society/peoples will continue to shoot themselves in their collective feet until it gets really bad.

@geoni: there ARE other animals that kill for thrill, but none of them let the food go to waste like we do

@sarras: im not territorial :P & overpopulation is what will destroy the world, the human population grows, and more animals go extinct each year, human population lessens, and the animals/plants can live on, human population disapears, and plants/animals have a whole world to live in, and unlike humans, those animals/plants wont destroy the world :P
look at a food chain, in every ecosystem the animals and plants keep each other in line, add a human to the mix, and the whole chain is replaced with an office building.

they do waste their kills, actually.

and i can't believe you're not territorial. i don't allow even my best of friends into my room.

@everything else you said... i'm not sure how to respond. it's just so dumb i can't think of anything to say. lol sorry. i'm travelling later today so i don't have time to waste.

Nivm: For once I understand and agree with everything you said.

Earowo: Some do let their food go to waste, and not all of us humans let our food go to waste, just certain people do. When it comes to animals going extinct, it's not always about us. There are actually some animals that benefit off the existence of humans. ex) vultures.

Sarras: I'm guessing you have trust issues with your best friends if you don't want them being in your room.  ??? I'm only saying that because I have trust issues with almost everybody for them to come into my room. I see no other reason.

There's a melting-pot of stupid and dumb here. Let me clear it up.

1. If you want humans to be wiped out for animals.

2. If you think that there should be a limit on how many children a family can have.

3. If you are a sucker for the scare-tactics of extremist enviromentalists.

Educate yourself. Think, use your mind, it's there for a reason. Try and find truth and not the comfortable fear that people like to sit in. Because it would be very comfortable for me to sit in my chair and quiver, damning the people who hurt those pwoor animals and speculating on how much the world is overpopulated and how it will all coincide into the ending of the world.

 Hey Blooded,
Currently the majority environmentalists base their decisions off of emotional appeal. As long as they do so, they wont help very much, and not enough to undo damage or stop it. There is (in my area at least) a rather large faction that are "anti-environmental" just because the environmentalists demand they change; even if they are in agreement.
you're an anti-environmentalist! =]
There are people as foolish as you say, and environmentalists who use scare tactics, but don't you think it just makes sense to take care of the world you live in? It can't take all the nasty things we do to it forever, and we have hit the point where our (great-)grandchildren are going to hate us for not doing better. Are you one of the people who cares about them?

I believe in good stewardship of our planet. I'm simply not another stupid, fearful sheeplet baaa-ing for another film that will validate my own fears of imminent endings.

Quote

Fear does not birth compassion. It breeds selfishness and paranoia. Extremist enviromentalism is rampant, and their instructors use scare-tactics to bring an audience of millions to a panicky state of fear.

Stewardship is a person's, and humanity's, consensus to supervise the natural environment of the earth and care for it. It stems with compassion.
