I log in planeshift and there are NO MODELS. I can see my models, lizard models, dwarven models, but that's it. I can't see NPCs, can't see harnquist, can't see noone. Help me someone please!
-
If you are looking for Harnquist between the in game hours of 7pm and 6am then he is at home resting these days. Sometimes it seems to take time for all the models to load
-
No, seriously. I see poeple chat bubbles but no people.

Apparently the game (or crystal space?) blindly assumes that the drivers will work just fine.
If you're really bonkers about getting ps to work and run into lots of trouble with your current graphics card then perhaps try installing an nvidia card.
I was using a GeForce Go 7300 and 1.86ghz core duo processor on linux and could get the game to work if I turned down some of the graphics settings.
An equal or better nvidia card should work provided you have an equal or better processor.
good luck ..

How long did you wait for the models to appear? I heard of cases when it took 15 and more minutes.
-
could you post some more details about your hardware configuration and your client settings?
e.g. which cpu and how much ram do you have? do you have background loading models enabled? how high are your overall graphic settings?
-
I have Radeon 9600 video card. Is it compatible?
-
You didn't really reply to the questions we should have answered in order to help....

It is possible that computers can be so slow that the networking buffer fills faster than its content can be turned into the loading of models and textures, so it may happen that the PlaneShift client forgets about a part of the list of models to be loaded until it is ready to do so. Bottlenecks can be a slow CPU and a slow harddisk.
I remember that Lolitra reported similar issues, but also stated that she has a quite outdated computer.
When characters start moving, they should get loaded into your client "belated". Also it will help to leave the area and return from a greater distance.

that can be checked with the terminal open (console argument on windows)
-
Models appear if I go into a create-new-character menu and click them all, but even there after I open 4 models it refuses to open more.

and what about the rest? CPU and RAM are very important, just like your game settings (most notably background loading - is it enabled for models?)
