Hello, the first thing I managed to do in the game is get myself stuck at the bottom of the ladder underneath the Kapael (?) tavern. Is there a way to climb back out? Must I find another way out?
I'm happy killing rats for now, but if I go exploring in the dark I don't know how to light my torch.... any clues?

To climb the ladders in the basement of Kada-El's tavern, you may have to try to jump [Space] while walking forward. It is true, this area is not really simple to manage. Many months ago you could simply walk them up by walking forward, but the movement behaviour changed so many times, and possibly most of us believe it gets worse each time...
The torch should burn the whole time you wield it in your hand. If it does not, please tell us how long it seems to work (there is a bug report which some testers can't confirm). You will not see a flame, though, unless you set up the particle effects to "High" in pslaunch. With the position "Medium", torches will only be a yellow light source without flame effects.

I'll practice my dancing moves to get back up the ladder!
My torch seems totally extinguished, no effects or light from it at any time, wielded or not.

You can also use brightness correction if it seems to be too dark in general (usually the keys F11 and F12 on non-macs)

It might also be that the game doesn't support your graphics card.
