Any updates on the SkyLab problem? It's been down an awfully long time; some of us are having PS withdrawal.
-
It is back up, check on IRC for help if you have issues joining or try edit psdir/data/servers.xml ; replace skylabhost.it wiht skylabhost.eu

NEW SERVER (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=37643.0)
DO NOT UPDATE until you are told in IRC channel #planeshift on FreeNode that it is safe to do so!

For those of us.... (um just you Roled, just you... ) who are so technically challenged , and now willing to admit it...
Would you please explain again, step by step, how to:
1) get to the IRC (... LigH mutters,... stupid Americans...) ::|
and
2) if you need to change the servers.xml thing, and you're a stupid American with Windows Vista, and you tried searching but couldn't find the file in Vista search, and then you found the file in Planeshift (x86)/data (19)/servers.xml and you thought you opened it oh maybe 2 dozen times with notepad and/or with xml editor ('cause those are the choices the drop down menu in Vista offers) and you changed it from .it to .eu, and you tried to save it but it keeps saying "You cannot save this C:/PlaneShift/data/servers.xml " because "That file does not exist make sure your pathway is correct", and you stayed up til 2:30 am your time because your so addicted to this game and then you gave up... what do we (ummm... just you, Roled, just you...) do next?

Someone with an x86_46 Windows make a screenshot of the windows explorer showing that file (and the path in the address bar, of course) :P
*has only linux himself*

Gemma- thanks
but...

{Kra facepalms and hopefully does not break kra's own nose in the process}

From the Start menu, choose "All Programs" then "Accessories" then "Command Prompt."
In that window, enter "c:\program files\planeshift\pslaunch --console --repair"
Be very very scared that you're getting tech support from Sluuph. :o

Roled:
If this happens again, right click on the server XML file, click properties. Under the security tab, change the permissions for the owner account. You have to check all the boxes, giving the owner permission to edit the file. Vista doesn't automatically make the owner an admin even if its the only account on your system. When you've applied those changes, open the server file with notepad, change the IP or .it or whatever the latest fix is, and save it.
[I am also a stupid American with Windows Vista]

If you *really really* trust the one on the other side of the Internet to only want your best, you might even invite him to a "TeamViewer" session and have your PC remote-controlled...
