This post is slightly off-topic for the complaint department, but I still felt it was in the right place here.
After a server crash this afternoon my main, more than four year old character was
GONE. Just vanished. :@#\
I left bite-marks in my keyboard :o and sought help in the gmtalk IRC channel. :'(
After having assured that I did not delete my beloved main character. :woot:
weltall :sorcerer: started a rescue operation, while Sarva :flowers: and Durgrem :detective:
found calming words, followed traces of the crime's victim and kept the close to
fainting pupeteer sedated with virtual beer.
Within the hour my character had been restored. \\o//
I can only admire the commitment and the perfect, INSTANT support delivered!
And I am convinced that you never would get anything close to that fast and satisfying a
solution in a commercial game where you are a paying customer!
PS: I do not like every change made, but I think you guys are all doing a fab job and that
this should be stated more often than you getting complaints.

The wrong sub-forum. Heresy, I know.
-
hope mine wasnt deleted.
-
This should be moved to the "Thank You Department"....oh...they don't have one of those on this forum. Weird.
-
Thanks!! We are happy to fix and improve things whenever we can!

Hey Talad, If you head on over to Hydlaa Plaza and check out my art thread, thats what I'm basing my application on to the art department. I know you'll love them and seriously consider me, to be a PS Art Dev.

Woohoo!! Go GM's!! \\o//
Daevaorn, I'm guessing the char. was Daevaorn, right? When was that ??? ???

I totally agree with the OP.
I remember my most precious noob items becoming invisible in my inventory, and Tazen rushing to help me, and the problem was solved straight away.
I remember being logged into the lifeless world with no players and no npc's around. My first visit into the Death Realm was nowhere close to being that scary. And from the depths of that cruel place i cried out to Ingles for help, and he rescued me and brought me back to the world of the living. In a matter of minutes, if not seconds.
I remember being caught in an endless falling through a faulty sector in the sewers. Falling down, and down, and down, for half an hour... until Sarva came and had me repositioned.
And I remember being desperate and upset and frustrated about my first Winch access which I couldn't make for months, and more than one GM giving me warm reassurance and helping me to regain my normal comfort level with the game world I dearly love. Marathal, Ingles, Venalan, I'm still grateful and I will always be.
There's a lot of recent changes to the game which don't make me especially happy, but compared to the highest standard of human interaction in Planeshift any technical problem or a feature one doesn't like, simply doesn't matter, while honesty and good will and friendship do. It's real and it's IRL.

gm service is good but untill they allow you to reopen a closed petition gm's need to be less trigger happy with the close petition button sometimes their resolutions dont have the intended effect especially since PS is still in Alpha

If you need to discuss a petition with a GM that they have closed, you can always send them a /tell in game, or come into the IRC channel #planeshift-gmtalk to get some help to remedy the situation. I handle a ton of petitions. I would say about 80% of the time I need to talk with the player directly about the issue in order to clear it up. Easy petitions (a location reset, a point toward bugtracker, an unacceptable name) can be taken care of with just an answer. Don't hesitate to /tell a GM if you need help. If I am busy, and sometimes I am VERY busy to the extent that I cannot talk, I will let you know and ask you to write a petition so I can get back to you when I'm not so busy.
This is by no means meant to be snarky because body language and tone of voice cannot be "heard" via a forum: Instead of accusing us of being trigger happy, maybe try to find another way of getting a hold of us? *points to paragraph above.
