I downloaded and updated planeshift, but when I try to login it tells me i have an incorrect username and password. I changed my password, and it still won't log me in.
EDIT: Now my Ubuntu crashes when I click the play button(also, I am running it as a VM if that matters)

Are you on the server you registered for? Make sure both fit and that you got the activation email http://www.planeshift.it/register.html

I already activated my account and I am not even able to get to a screen where i can select a server.

There is the registration and login for the forums. Then there is registration and login for a particular server. If you registered for Skynet, but are trying to login to EZ-PC, that would be one reason you would not be able to access your chosen server. The server option is on the main login screen for the PS client, Skynet or EZ-PC.

I registered for the non-RP server AND the forums. I am not able to select a server to login to. From the client I click "Play" but before it is done loading i get two errors and it crashes.

You will have to post all information relating to your experience with the client, including any text of any errors. Nobody here can read your mind.

There are no errors, once i click "Play" the VM crashes.
EDIT: Now it is behaving the same way it was here: http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=37563.0 but i still can't fix it
