Title: Can someone work as an Assassin for hire?
Post by: Sscardom on August 16, 2010, 10:29:31 pm
After reading the harassment thread, I was wondering if maybe people wanted more revenge than an arrest. Would someone be able to work as an Assassin?

I.E.:

Player A has a grudge against Player B due to some public humiliation.

Assassin sees the incident, and follows Player A.

Assassin asks Player A if he would like to hire him.

Etc. Etc.

To my understanding there is a guild which will offer such services. Their quality of work cannot, however, be attested to.  :)

Indeed. THere have been "Message board" postings about it. And at least one - if not several - guilds will offer their service as Bounty Hunter or even more.

Assassins are always in demand. However, a successful assassin has to cater to specific audiences, unfortunately. Certain people prefer role play fights, others strictly mechanical duels, and some, a mixture of both. To play an assassin without a large amount of stress in respect to everyone's varied and quite frequently annoying preferences, the would-be killer should know, generally, who prefers what. In this game, again, unfortunately, you will likely have to refuse certain targets or clients because of their preferences. As an example, a friend of mine who ran a secret guild of assassins years ago also had protocols on who he would fight or receive commissions from. Before he established some method of his own, he would oft encounter a person who would attempt to control or cheat in a role play fight. Another example would be someone who uses the OOC information of your character's name and tells the public community at large. That doesn't knock down an assassin's ability to operate effectively, but it makes things complicated. In other words, be careful who you deal with as an assassin. The enjoyment and coolness of playing an assassin comes with many drawbacks.

Good luck Sscar, and always try to make your assassinations interesting.  ;D

No, I don't play console games.
