[News taken from main site]
Dear Planeshifters, as of today shields are finally working!
You've been feared by the sticks those Cutthroats tried to hit you with or were afraid being touched by those wiggly legs of a Consumer?
Fear no longer! Learn how to use one of the many shields out there and they'll no longer get through to you.
Hurry up and visit your local crafter today to get one of those great pieces, who knows how long it'll take till they're sold out?
And don't forget to prepare yourself with your favourite training partner for new challenges. Who'll win? The blasting youngster rageing with his pair of axes or the clever master who knows how to block his uncoordinated strikes while still landing critical hits?

The cutthroats are sweethearts, but now I fear them not! Thank you for these shields, now I can totally beat Kull up and it WILL work with a shield this time!
-
I believe Talad referred to the shady guys on top of the Cutthroats Bane in the middle of BDRoad1 (which, BTW, still has wrong textures (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/flyspray/index.php?do=details&task_id=2828)) -- the followers of Ukabnu, not of Kull.

Note that hooded fellow at the left top...

Can I buy one with all of my 2 tria?
-
I'm so famous the creator of the game uses me as a reference for fear. Not surprising at all in fact. ;D
-
it's a reference to the NPCs or generally cutthroats, not to anyone specific :P
-
So the efforts my alt made to reach shieldmaking level 59 were not wasted :)
-
Now all we need is some more specific display of weapon stats, such that people will know what all those different types of fancy shields are good for and how they differ.

Isn't his guild meant to be a part of the npc cutthroats?

Yeah, i wanna know if my crown shield is a heavy shield or light shield, so that i can know weather or not to get diffrent shield, since im a heavy user
-
there isn't such a classification shields are more like weapons

Well there's a few things I am wondering.
Are shields based on the training of Shield Handling or Armor training?
Are shields now repairable, under repair armors or repair shields?
I am soooooo happy I have a 300Q Golden Shield :D If anyone would like to touch my shield thy would have to speak with a GM first ;D
I think what Talad was meaning NPCs. In my own opinion, and please take no offence in the matter, I hate ranks or guild names taken after an NPC, it to me sounds like they play to much PS or either cant think of anything else to name it.
Rogue is fine. Dark Rogue isn't, maybe Knights Rogue or something else.
-
/me saw a shield in action today, and has never seen so many blocked hits..... ???
-
what's so weird about 300q shields you just need decent crafters
-
Shields is great and all, but why does it Max at Level 19?
-
Rlydontknow purposefully made shields to block my daggers :P
-
/me agrees with Irishman.... ;D
-
shields sound great. Thanks for finalising shields
-
Shields is great and all, but why does it Max at Level 19?
uhhhh, well the same reason as why swords max at 100 and axes at 150. Theres a certain location that is not implemented yet to go further in shields, obviously.

thats a really late comment, the training has been fixed for quite a few days now
Perlan says that somthing about it got lost in the system, thats why after it got fixed the guy who trained to 19 trained up to 20

mhmmmm yes, because I do play PlaneShift... But yes my answer is the most obvious one.
-
In the description of shield handling it does say there are LA, MA, and HA types of shields, maybe it will be implemented some day, as for now, no type of armor is described on the shield itself.
I can imagine though, a buckler is small, but that has nothing to do with the material it is made of ;D

One word... unbalanced. Duels with shields are solely dependent now on skill level in shield... it's pretty much as bad as the HA situation... just my two Trias. I like shields, but they shouldn't block almost every single hit... and though I was for shielded duels a while ago, now I'm fully against them. It takes all skill and strategy out of duels. As far as against NPCs though, thanks for making something that could let us survive against the really strong baddies.

mind to post some more information? e.g. what armor/weapons each duellant used? what stats and skills they had?
tried it on a few levels and I was able to overwhelm a shield+weapon user with dual weapons (all at cap)

I find it more realistic, the way fighting is currently, is you randomly swing your weapons every few seconds, which makes no sense, in real life you would swing and block whenever you get close, weather you miss or not would depend if the person jumpped back
