Sorry to the Dev but I forgot, but it\'s the one who is thinks about what monster that should be fought in the game and makes them I think. I think its Darkmoon or something like that. We\'ll I think we should help the Dev\'s out so it would be nice if everyone would post an 1 idea about a monster you would like in the game.
Here\'s one of my monsters:
Name: Rabbito
Classweight: Newbie Monster for beginners when you first start in the game.
Physical Traits: Looks like a small brown rabbit but with big eyes. It has big claws and can tackle you.
Physical Attack: Claw Swipes, tackle
Magical Attack: Throws Sand at you (Earth Damage)
Life/ Hit Points: Low
-
We once had a thread about this subject, but it died out long ago. I think it would be good to have another go at it. If anyone wants to describe monsters here for possible in-game use, I will keep a log of all entries along with the creator\'s name/nick.
Rules:
- no damage/skill/attribute/other stats
- describe the monster\'s appearance in detail (include colors)
- briefly describe any combat styles (how they attack, what body parts they use to attack, etc.)
- please name your monster (we got some without names last time)
- limit one monster per post
-
aww i wanna kill white fluffy bunnies :(
-
i think there should mainly be weak monsters for awhile then they can keep adding more and more.. some examples is maybe a dog and i dont rlly wanna say cat cuz thats disrespect full to the cat races...
-
I think it\'d be cool if we got to see one of the current baddies they have lined up... :D
-
or have harder monsters the further down in the caverns you go,
but noob monsters well one could be
Name-Giant Frog
Fighting style-leap and slash
- spitting acid
- toungue attack
decription - a giant frog :) green with brown stripes or spoys , slimey, yellow eyes about half the height of a fully grown male human.
-
yea we need some previews of wats coming to quench our thirst. i really wanna see wat combat might look like
-
classical rats
Nothing special about them. They are little, nasty creatures, which can bite and do little damage. A bored newbie could kill some. They could serve as meat for other creatures.
Danger:
Think of masses of rats (perhaps leaded by a druid). You can easily kill one rat (if you hit it) but what, if hundreds of them attack you? Think of sneaking through the canalisation and suddenly a huge squeaking and hundreds of 1hit-point-damages.
Advantage:
rats can always be an excuse for disappearance of items. it\'s not a bug, it was a rat! If somebody drops a knife or similiar on the street, the engine has to kill such \"obsolete\" items. Why not combine this with a little rat?
Appearance:
Small, grey, ugly

hop hop hop (http://planeshift.oodlz.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=71&boardid=11&sid=b5898dfb916211d5b40e5dc74fcbdec7)

How \'bout tigers and lions for the more middleclass monsters ? They\'d be untakeable by noobs, but would make nice middleclass mob.
-
Name: pending
Classweight: Newbie-Skilled player
Physical Traits: A monster with very small feet and big hands that it walks on the monster uses crystals (they would be often hunted for the crystals they put in there heads) that it imbeds in its head the better the crystal the stronger it is some of the stronger ones could be itelligent enough to brandish some kind of weapon eg club, rock, log etc
Physical Attack: punch, thump or hit you with some kind of primitive weapon like the above
Magical Attack: depends of strength of crystal imbedded in its head
Life/ Hit Points: Low- High
-
Argh, no, I was just about to post my topic when I accidenlty go back a window with the backspace key! Fine, I\'ll always have notepad open when I\'m using the forums.
Name: Clachiatore
Physical appearance: The Clachiatore is basically a crab with an extra shell protecting its back. The shell and the crab are golden in color, although the Clachiatore is usually waiting inside its shell with its eyes scanning for any nearby victims. The Clachiatore has six legs, of which have feet that have strong grips due to sharp claws. The eyes are on stalks, and the mandibles are average-sized for a crab. From a few feet away and further, it looks just like a golden nugget. A relatvie of the Clachiatore looks like a crystal from a few feet away.
Attack styles: The Clachiatore, when a victim is at least a few feet away, will suddenly jump a few feet into the air. Immediately after, if the victim is larger, the crab will hold on. If smaller, the victim will be pounced upon and slain nearly instantly in most cases.
For larger opponents, the Clachiatore will jump a few feet, drop the outer shell, and with two of its feet, get a good grip on the victim. It will then swing itself and start slashing as well as biting the larger opponent. By this time, several other Clachiatores will join in the fight and together, overwhelm the opponent with slashing feet (at least two will always be used as a grip) and its mandibles.
After the battle, the Clachiatore will then usually devour the prey. Clachiatores are socail creatures as well, so from several yards distance, there will be seen several golden nuggets. Unfortunately, they are not what they seem...
Shells provide large protection against many things. It is part of the Clachiatore, and is not made of gold though it seems so, but the Clachiatore is made rather vulnerable when attacking the opponent.
-
Name: Trolloc (can you tell where this ones going? ;))
Apearance: Twice as tall and as wide as a man, but human in origin and basic shape. However, certain parts of the body are crossed with other animals in a random fashion, eg: one might have goats legs, the torso and arms of a human and the head of a human but with a hawks features. The would wear black chainmail in an evil style (think Chaos Space Marines spiky bits from WH40K).
Combat Styles: They are blood thirsty savages that live only to kill and eat those they slaughtered, and so they charge straight at an enemy they think they can kill. If the enemy looks to hard to kill, they go looking for some more of their kind and gang up on it. Unless there\'s a Myrdraal with them ;) They would use big axes and swords specifically crafted to look evil and be poisonous.
Ok, maybe not specifically this since it\'s a rip off from the Wheel of Time series, but something akin to this would be rather cool. BTW for those who don\'t know a Myrdraal is basically a man, who has a deathly white complection and no eyes that wears a black cloak unaffected by the wind. Also master swordsmen, and completly evil, and cause fright on sight. They can herd Trollocs and make them fight things they\'d otherwise run away from.
-

Mm I naming too many monsters? Should I stop it? Or do you guys think I should keep them coming? I don\'t want to make it seem like I\'m spamming......
-
There could be boss monsters that are less common and much stronger than normal ones. They would look like normal monsters of their type, but have more hp/life, be stronger and smarter, and drop better items. Boss monsters would usually have some normal monsters of their type with them.
-
ZOMBIES!!!!! woot! n their easy to make! woot go zombies!

Could someone make a web form to submit monster ideas. I think it would make this whole submission part easier for the devs.
-

Erm, Kuiper9000, I would like to know why spiders and mushrroms carry money around. I like your monster ideas as well, but the items part are kind of unrealistic. Of course that\'s my view, and my views are rather confused and unorganized...
Anyway, another idea:
Name: Winged Lulf
Physical Appearence: The winged Lulf looks like a wolf with wings. However, there are some major differences between the Lulf and the wolf. Those differences would be the wings, obviously, and the fact that the hind legs are replaced by three sharp talons. The Lulf also has smaller ears than a wolf. Similarities include the sense of smell, nose shape, fur, and front claws, as well as the social behavior. The wings are always as half as large as the length of hte body as well. The Lulf can fly up to a height of 5M+75 feet, where M equals the length of the Lulfs wings.
Attack Style: The Lulf is unpredictable, and are highly intellgent. Lulfs never hunt alone, rather, they hunt in packs of at least two. Packs of five are the most common. Lulfs will surround their quarry, and will attack with their front claws in order to slash and tear. The talons are to be used to pick up smaller quarry from the ground and in some cases, air. The fangs of a Lulf are formidable, and will be used alongside the claws.
The Lulf has a habit of warding off attacks with its wings. While it protects the main body, the wings are made of a thin leathery substance. When a wing is damaged severely enough, the Lulf will lose the ability to fly. However, the Lulf will attack here and there, as well as everywhere, and are fierce predators.
Like the wolf, the Lulf only attacks when hungry or needs provisions for its secret stocks. They shy away from creatures that carry things, but in some cases, will not attack certain creatures at all unless there is no choice but to do so. If a Lulf is seperated from its kind, then it is weakened severely and will die in a matter of days.
-
well when it says \"Items Dropped,\" it does say \"if you need an idea.\" Also its fantasy its not supposed to be that realistic.
-
Well, at least it did say \'If you need an idea,\' but wouldn\'t it be better if there were special items that were attributed to the type of creature? Just a suggestion. As for Planeshift being a fantasy game, well, sure it doesn\'t have to be realistic, but it has to make sense in some aspects. I\'ve never heard of a penguin that valued a ruby, but then again, I\'m thinking of a normal penquin. And yes, the penguin was completely random. And yes, this thread did need a bump to the top. I\'d rather not see a new thread similar to this, and I like this thraed as well. Many creative ideas here, though I\'m afraid I do not have a monster to tell about. :(
-
As for monsters carrying money, we have no control over what (or whom) they may ingest. ;)
I think it would be unnatural to see \"monster dies, coins drop on ground\", or something similar. Weapons or held items dropping to the ground upon death depend on a monster\'s intelligence and its ability to hold things for purposeful use. I favor the idea of having to \"gut\" a monster to see if it swallowed anything useful. (I do not think we should show the actual gutting procedure, however.) Simply \"harvesting\" a set of remains for parts with possible alchemic use should turn up any odd treasures. A lot of thought is going into the monster/death/society/drops ideology and theorems, so that our end result is balanced. Keep those ideas coming! :)
-
I dunno, I don\'t really see why you should include monsters whose behaviors don\'t make sense even in a magical setting. Unless this creature is a summoned monster with a geas it wouldn\'t kill itself.
-
Ive got it, maybe the cities are offering money to kill monsters, so after killing so many u go and see some official busar and he pays u, would that work?
-
Maybe some monsters could steal items that were dropped by (dead) players?
-
Monster
Name: Eye of Death
Classweight: Experienced Average Player
Physical Traits: Its a large human Eyeball that floats around the height of a Kran from the ground to its head.
Physical Attacks: Ram (it rams you)
Magical Attacks: Hypnosis (it stares at you, then it gazes a purple beam at you, hypnotizing you), Sleep (it squints at you, making you sleepy).
Items Dropped (if you need an idea):
- Lens of truth (2% increase in indirect magic protection; very rare)
Life/Hit Points: Moderately High
-
umm, I read something on the first page that made me blink twice...
Name: Trolloc (can you tell where this ones going?
dude, that\'s not even close to happening. if anyone came along and saw that in game, and reported it to robert jordan, the game would probably be shut down altogether, as lawyers swarmed over planeshifts by the thousands
it would have once been possible for them to create a similar monster, but now that that was posted, if they made it into the game, and above situation occurred, there would be proof that it was a ripoff, and deleting it won\'t help because it would only take one witness, which could be one of the dozens of people who visit here daily.
-
I\'ve got a good one..
Name: Thunder bugs.
Location: Thunder Cave
Difficulty: A few=Beginner. A swarm=Experienced average.
Appearance: It looks like a beetle the size of a boot. They have very large mandibles, enabling them to devour their foe easily. Each step it makes sends off a small electricity sound you can barely hear. Most of the time you only find one or two doing something like feasting on a small animal. Kill them quickly, or if one escapes into the thunder cave, alot more will come out. They have small sacs hidden inside their mandibles to conduct electricity, enabling them to shock their foes. They are easily the best beginner slayers if they get into swarms.
Physical attacks: Bite, shock bite.
Magical attacks: Lightning(A swarm of the bugs press their mandibles together, creating a huge lightning bolt, which flings right into you. High damage to beginners.)
Drops:
Thunder bug shell.(Bring 200 shells to a smithy to trade for thunder armor.)
-
Instead of monsters dropping money, perhaps they could drop meat or some sort of hides, which you can sell to npc\'s.. or give it to a smith who creates a (leather) armor, for a fee.. ideas?
-
exactly that\'s the mos timportant point !!!
Monsters should drop \"ingredients\", either magical or strictly meat and so on .... an alchimist could make something with the meat, or maybe hides --> armor, just as you said ; this is a must have feature no doubt
-

Exactly what I mean with my thunder bugs. Kill 3 or 4 swarms of them, gather their shells, and let a smithy create thunder armor.

hmmm there have been lots of sugestions along the lines of \'living\' monsters, but what about ethereal monsters eg. wraiths or ghosts or undead? after all, there is an underworld maze which u have to find your way out of when you die, so they might suit that sort of place...
-
Mm I naming too many monsters? Should I stop it? Or do you guys think I should keep them coming? I don\'t want to make it seem like I\'m spamming......
I think that you should continue posting. Someone has to keep this thread going, and the mroe ideas, the better. In my opinion, at least.
I think that it\'s because it may have been easier to think of original living creatures than original ethreal creatures, but that\'s just what I think. By the way, do creatures like \'Fire Elementals\' and \'Earth Elementals\' count as living creatues? They are made of a certain type of element, like fire for the fire elemental, and to my knowledge, do not breathe or have blood vessels/something similar, but they \'live.\' I doubt their bodies are made of cells, either, and also doubt whether they need \'food\' to live. Is it because they are animated, or something along the lines of animated? I think they are ethreal, but I\"m not too sure. Anyway, my idea on an ethereal creature, as I am in full agreement with Furay that there are too many \'iiving\' creatures. Although perhaps not \'exactly\' a creature.
Name: The Living Earth
Appearence: The Living Earth is a patch of dirt on the earth. Not any ordinary patch of dirt, but a living patch of dirt, as is clearly said in the name. This \'patch of earth that lives\' is rarely found, but wherever it is, it is usually guarding something. It looks like any ordinary patch of ground, namely the land surrounding it, but it can be characterized by the not-so-noticable up and down motion of the patch of land, as well as the fact that nothing lives on it. Perhaps over it, but not on it. An example would be a tree cannot live on it, but a bird with a floating nest may live over it. The size of each patch of Living Earth varies.
Attack Style: The Living Earth cannot move at all, but if a creature or many creatures try to get across, they shall suffer either one of many fates, depending on the size of the patch and where it is located. They may be thrown back with a huge amount of clay rises and hits the target (as well as causing damage), or with dirt and other substances. Or several balls of the substances may do the same thing. The patch of dirt may turn into sinking sand, slowly pulling the trespasser in. It can even explode, sedning patches of dirt everywhere and severely wounding the target if not killing it. These are only a few of the many attacks the Living Earth uses to defeat trespassers. The attacks used are chosen completely randomly as well, but usually, depending on the attack, the attacks shall be focused around the ground around the target/s.
On Defeating it: The Living Earth (natural, anyway) cannot be \'killed,\' at least without the use of floods, but it can be \'defeated.\' It is defeated with the usage of potions that calm the land, rendering the land into a deep sleep for a certain period of time. If the land came to life magically, then either the method mentioned before will work or a powerful anti-magic potion/spell (that removes magical enchantments) will completely remove it. Those types of Living Earth are characterized with the occasional blue sparks wandering around, and are easier to notice, but are more powerful. One may also get across the Living Earth by floating or flying. As long as nothing sets foot, paw, claw, and etcetera upon the ground, it shall stay at peace.
-
Name: Revolting Wallower
Description: An fleshy undead type monster, with the appearance of a tormented, skinless human. It stumbles about, making disgusting \"squish\" noises as it moves. They appear at night and underground.
Difficulty: Medium. The Wallower only uses unarmed physical attacks, but an attack can spread disease. These enemies are prone to almost any attack given their lack of protective outer coverings.
-
Wraith:
The wraith finds itself trapped, compeled to remain in the world of the living as a result of some long forgotten task, duty or obsession. It is confused and lacking in proper mental faculties. Deprived of rest, wraiths have become warped and vengfull, so that they haunt tombs or ruins. They will attack and slay living creatures that intrude upon them.
They are present at all times, but at night or on the lower levels they are stronger. They are almost invisible in full daylight and thier attacks do 1/4 of there standard damage
Apperance:
Wraiths have no material form, they are ethereal creatures which may apear as dark gaseous shapes
Advantages:
Wraiths cannot be damaged execpt by magical weapons/spell attacks
Wraiths have a powerfull \'ice\' attack
Wraiths are ethereal and may pass through walls and scenic objects without penalty
Any magical weapon used against them has a chance of loosing its powers or even shattering completly, but if the wraith is defeated the weapon will become imbued with its evil powers. It assumes a ghostly shimmer and does 10% more damage.
Disadvantages
Wraiths ocupy thier own bound area, e.g. a ruin and cannot move far from that place
Wraiths have no corpereal form to sustian them, so they are unstable and may suddenly vanish during combat ;) and return after about an hour
Difficulty:
Hard! Although only high level players can stand a chance of defeating them, they are acordingly rare and can easily be fleed
-
there should be hides and sutch for tailors to make leather armor but you have to have a knife to kut it up and then have diffrent kinds like horned or spiked or if you kill a dragon dragon hides and also whing on your armro would be awesome and also im downloding it and i havemnt played yet so if there is now mounts make it so there is thats one of they keys to games mounts and for each races have a difffrent mount like weird animals
-
So far only two mounts have been described (to my knowledge at least) The Pterosaur and the Megaras, but they are both flying creatures, so there will hopefully be creatures to ride on the ground...
-
hmm if u speak to the watchmen, ahem, cats, one of them rides things called wurms
-
Sorry guys but I\"m making a bestiary for Planeshift cuz I wanna submit it. Please if you don\'t mind give monster ideas in the following format:

Physical Traits: \"What does it look like here\"
Physical Attacks: \"Physical Attacks here\"
Magical Attacks: \"Magical Attacks Here\"
Items Dropped (if you need an idea):
\"Items Dropped here\"
Life/Hit Points:
\"How much HP does it have here\"
use words not numbers
-
Ive started a list of ideas already, ill send them when they r finished :)
-

I would, personally, love to describe monsters with a drawing as inspiration :D

Ok so most of my art is on paper, and i have to manhandle my sisters ancient scanner to get anything done.
but here is one picture. it is done with Jasc Paint Shop pro. and took me many many moons to complete.
I call it a Turran. The picture makes it look way more knobly that i mean it to be.

I would like to do the characteristics for a monster or two, but could i get a scale?
is ...
n00b -avg -experisnced
good enough
also i would like a scale for the strength for the animal
thanks!
-
Devs won\'t give any scale because they don\'t know yet. So you should just create a scale: just say if it is weak, average, powerfull or very powerfull.
You can even compare with things we already know like goblins, giant spiders, or dragons. Well that is what i would do.
-
Grouping monsters.
One of them wouldn?t be too difficult to kill. It would be in the low to moderate category. But when you have two of them on you their individual attack strength doubles. There armor class also increases. If three of them are on you attack strength quadruples and so on. The maximum number of monsters that can attack you at the same time is based on their size. It is also based on whether the monsters can flank you.
Background information: this monster takes advantage of good elves that go bad. It starts off as a wondering drone. In elf female with a taste for power selects the drone as a mate. They have offspring at a greatly accelerated rate. Instead of the usual one child per pregnancy they will have seven to twelve. Birthing happens every month. The children are mature after year. Their life span is about 25 years each. The children are essentially pine sized flesh eating monsters and a few drones. They are totally at the command of the elf female. Even if the elf starts off with good intentions they will be corrupted.
Name: little terror
Class weight: grouping monster, a little over half weight and height of an elf.
Physical Traits: harry elf hunched over with large pointy ears.
Physical Attacks: two slashes and a bite
Magical Attacks: none
Items Dropped: random coins but not often.
Life/Hit Points: low to low moderate.

while I\'m here, has anyone talked about monster AI?
I\'m tired of seeing the same thing all the time, monster sees you, monster attacks you, stupid monster, no cookie...
I\'d like to see monsters that act on a slightly higer lvl of comprehension. I think everyone here gets that point
I\'d also like to see monsters that can independantly lvl up. enough n00bs go someplace that they shouldn\'t, the monsters that kill them get xp, lvling up and becoming more powerful monsters, I can just see it now, a rampaging ant terrorising the city... course that\'s just an extreme idea, but you understand what I\'m thinking now... I\'ll just shut up and stop acting like a dumbazz
-
so how would a new player fight if he discovered Planeshift a year later? I don\'t think it\'d be fair for someone new in the game to fight monsters that are way beyond his experience.
-
I want dinosaurs!
Name: Rexo
Skill level: Medium - high
Attack: Stomp, bite
Magic attack: Fossilize - slows down or freezes the victim for a period of time, depending on Rexo\'s level.
Appearance: T-rex, basically, with crystals embedded all the way down its spine.
There could be variations as well, like there could be a part of the dungeons where there were loads of different dinosaurs and there would be a couple of Rexos but there could be lots of little dinosaurs like the raptors out of Jurassic Park.
-
I want undead... no game is worth playing if it hasn\'t got undead IMO :P
Lich
Lvl: Powerful - Very Powerful
Attacks - Touch of darkness: The lich touches you and you feel a strange freezing sensation, damaging your health and draining your mana, transfering it to the lich, and has a slight chance of cursing you.
Also has the ability to use weapons and armor like PC\'s
Magic abilities: Very powerful mage, has the most deadliest of the damage spells available in PS
Appearance: well everybody knows how a skeleton looks... just add some glowing red/green/blue eyes depending on the power of the lich... and it wears armor or clothes like chain mail, plate mail, or just a woolen robe...
-
heh, the thing is that when a lvled monster was killed, unlike adventurers, it\'s career would be over.
areas would have the preset monster lvls that spawn there, say near starting towns lvl one monsters spawn, players fight them and all that, sometimes a lvl one would get killed by a lvl one monster, maybe one of them lvls up, he\'s now a lvl 2 monster with a slightly higher AI, dependant apon personality(I\'d love to see monsters with personalities... be great in taming too...) it might stick around and fight lowbies, or it might move into slightly higher territory... hell, It might even train monsters around him, if you wanna add a bit more challenge to the game
I also kind of doubt that any monster would lvl to the point it couldn\'t be taken out, I mean that would be a lot of pc\'s killed, and I doubt that every monster in any given area would lvl a lot. but I do think it would be an interesting thing to incorporate into the game.
-
I like your idea tyger, it would add some diversity to \"the art of killing mobs\" ;) and mob cultures could rise from feeble AI to greatness if one of their kind trained them... then you could organize raids on the more powerful mobs.. It would be great fun IMO :D
-
I think so...
can\'t wait till I\'m smart enough to incorporate my ideas into the ultimate MMO! course, knowing me, that\'s like waiting for a rabbit to fly out my butthole, maybe a little less likely...

Ghoul
Of all the terrible fates lying dormant within the bodys of man, one of the most horrible is the corruption of body and mind that turns an ordinary mortal into a ghoul. Nor is the condition easy to eradicate, for ghouls beget ghouls and generations of foul, corpse eating creatures, devoid of all but the most rudimentary reason.
Ghouls cavort naked around graveyards under the palid light of the moon. They are frightening to look upon, having dark rancid skin, mad glinting eyes and slavering mouths which spew blood and pus. Although thin and stooped, they are ivery strong and insanly ferocious. They leap upon thier unfornunate victim, tearing with long filthy nails and biting with thier sharp pointed teeth. however, they are cowardly creatures at best and will flee if they are getting the worse of the fight
Apperance:
Ghouls retain the basic outlines of ordinary men and women(or elves or whatever), however, there bodys have become stooped and bony, whilest there hair is long and matted, or else absent alltogether. Thier faces present a bestial leer, with curled lips exposing enlarged teeth. Most ghouls are naked, whilest retaining a few rags they once wore as true men
Rules:
Cause fear
slash/claw attacks
they will retreat if they are loosing a fight
Difficulty:
Medium
-
Name: Hero Spirit
Skill level: Medium - high
Attack: Sword, Mace, hammer, axe, staff (depends)
Magic attack: Depending on the type of the spirit, if it is a wizard spirit it gets strong magic attacks, if it\'s a fighter spirit it get attacks with element attributes (such as a sword that shoots fire)
Appearance: Character model, transparant, red eyes, blood on clothes, sword or weapon in their chest
Info: The spirits of great fighters and magicians, such as kings and princes. they were slaughtered brutally, and their spirits hate the living. They are mostly seen at the places where they died, such as plains. Whenever they see a living creature, wether animal or human, they will attack them on sight. Even though they are strong, they might flee when they think they can\'t win anymore.

In case anyone was wondering, I am still following this topic. Thanks, Kuiper7986, for keeping this topic running, and thanks to all who submitted. Keep posting, and let\'s see how many more pages we can fill with your ideas. :]

Mriswith
(okay i stole the idea)
(but i like it)
small humans covered in scales they wear a long coat that bends the air making them almost dissapear.
they are very good at knives, only attack if there attacked, wander anywere at will, steal food when hunger hits, sometimes befriends players to try to turn them into mriswith,,, high level npc\'s travel in groups
Bolderdogs
stone dogs that dont\' have blood, the easiest way to kill
is with an earthquake or something that shatters it, (better be a strong sword or it will be shattered) mage throws earth or rock at it for example
their weapon, teath and claws, run on 4 legs, 3 feet high can jump up to 10 feet high
extremely hard to kill
just an idea

Stat reduction monsters.
These monsters adjust the statistic that the player has up or down. I know that every monster I picked requires a modification to the database but oh well. This kind of monster will reduce or increase any statistic that a character has. It can also increase or reduce a statistic that a weapon or armor has. In a way if you free up the way that monsters can do damage it will improve the way you do your game overall. For instance if you created a pseudo macro language for monster damage to a target that included the ability to modify targets other then hit points that might help the ability to create interesting monsters. One of the ways to implement these things into your system is to treat them like a spell. Only instead of increasing statistics they decreased them.
Name : Shambling hag.
Background information: this monster travels in the group from three to seven. Its effect is caused by its really ugly appearance.
Physical attack. Moderate claw, claw only.
Magical attack. Reduces strength by one after every physical attack.
Hit points armor class. Moderate.
-
Stat increase monster.
I always wondered why in every game all monsters are basically the same. Kill monster get experience go to the next level. Some of them will attack you on site some like you some don?t like not like you. Then you get the loot. This one is not like any of them.
Name: fluffy hopper.
Attacks: none
loot dropped: nothing
Hit points: one if any
movement rate: slightly slower than a character.
Effect if monsters is killed: you get back a half of your hit points back. They must be killed with a physical blow to get effect i.e. no magic or missile weapons.
If you see one of these things you had better run fast or you?ll never catch it. You might be able to use root or slow to get one but they have a high magic resistance. They are also hard to track. You either have to be very good at your skill or very lucky. They are very leery and do not travel around in groups.
Once you catch up to one you can either kill it or put it in a fluffy hopper cage. A fluffy hopper cage can hold eight fluffy hoppers and can only be made by a blacksmith. No NPC will sell one. The fluffy hoppers will expire in the cage after 10 game days. This includes time off-line. Once in the cage two fluffy hoppers can be sacrificed at once for a full heel.
-
I spok with an dev, he sad that CB will include some AI, most for NPCs i think, but later maby for monsters.. I really whanna see the reactons of an NPC when i ask:
\"Where is the closest bathroom?\" :P
-
Name: Black Crystal Dragon
Skill level: Hard
Physical attacks: Claw Swipe, Pounce (if not directly infront of it\'s prey).
Magical attacks: Crystal Shards (sharp crystal shards are conjured and hurtled towards the player).
Appearance:
http://hostmysig.com/data/moogie/46481.php
(Sketched version.)
http://hostmysig.com/data/moogie/46483.php
(Sorry but my colouring skills are horrible. This is just a general idea of what it should look like. Also, due to the link being .php I was unable to directly post the images.)
Other Info: Usually found underground and in caves. Crystal Dragons are solitary and are most commonly encounted defending items of valuable treasure. They absorb magic of black or dark elements, however have a weakness to Holy or white magic. They drop no loot (their guarded treasure should be enough to compensate the player for his effort).
[Edit: btw, both images are copywrite me, and yes I know they arn\'t all that great but be gentle :)]
-
love the idea of the dragon and the loot.
The Coloring looked good to me... classy and not nearly as painful as the stuff i force myself to do. ;)
-
NPC monster.
It looks like an NPC talks like an NPC has the same AI but is actually a monster. A standard quest might be finding one of these and getting rid of it.
Name: shape shifter
Class weight: same as NPC or player character.
Physical Traits: same as NPC or player character.
Physical Attacks: weapon in hand.
Magical Attacks: can confuse and blind
Items Dropped: Magic weapon and cash. If you track it back to its layer it has a hoard
Life/Hit Points: reasonably high.
This monster lives in cities. It is always up to no good and use usually the source of a lot of murders. It takes its time and picks its target to get the maximum money available. Since its target?s are usually rich nobility there is quite often a handsome reward for killing one. Since it can change its shape at will they are hard to locate without spells. Once you find one they are hard to kill. Accepting the quest is not for the fainthearted. If not detected they will eventually travel to another city to wreak more havoc. Generally player character?s are not attacked by this monster. However if they are rich enough and have enough status they can be targeted.
-
Name: Scorpsus
Difficulty: advanced players only.
Appearance:
Huge desert scorpion.
Location: Random, mostly far away from desert towns. They live in underground sand pits. Above ground, the sand pit looks like a sand \"whirlpool\". Once defeated, enter it\'s sand pits to find a treasure.
Drops: Gold

I am horrible at creating names for monsters... If anyone finds a better name or a different name for any of my monsters, then please let me know and I will (more than likely) change the name of my monsters. Not that hey are original, though.
Name: Haunting Spectre
Description: The Haunting Spectre looks like a ghostly apparation of a dead creature. It is usually invisible to the unaided eye, however, and has no physical form. It feeds upon the fears of people and creatures alike, driving them mad with terror, and are immune to any physical from of attack. They are immune to the magics of death and destruction, but as they are a sort of undead creature, they can be destroyed with magic of life and holiness. The Haunging Spectre may, however, if intruded upon, call for the aid of other undead things from another plane, and if the target creature is foolish enough to stray upon the land of the Spectres and Undead, (which in itself is unlikely, as they will probably run away from fright) can be slayed and join the ranks of the Undead.
The Haunting Spectre may be found guarding lost and ancient treasures, or among the armies of Undead and other creatures similar to that. Confusion and fear are its ways of subduing the enemy, and calling other Undead to their aid is another chief aspect of the Spectre. Ways of summoning include the Spectre going in a mad frenzy, circling around a black fire, but the rest of the summoning reitual is unknown, as none have yet been brave or foolish enough to watch it.

Another idea... Being bored gives me time to think. 8) By the way, should I revive the \'Ideas for Weapons and Items\' thread?
Name: salient Fish (or Shark, teke your pick)
Description: Fish usually, if not always, live in water. The Salient FIsh is no exception. Thsi fish looks like a shark with a horn. In fact, it is pretty much like a shark with a horn, other than the fact that the teeth are not quite so sharp, and it is slimmer from fin to fin, side to side, or something liek that. The horn is the main aspect of this fish/shark. Only the tip and a small area surrounding it is bony. The rest is pretty much muscle, with a layer of rough skin with miniscule pointy thorns to prevent others from biting the horn off.
When attacking, the shark usually just charges with its horn, and eats the prey with its teeth. If the pry is impaled upon the horn, it dips the horn and makes it curve and serves it to the waiting mouth. The powerful fins and tail are nice to have, too.
The Salient Fish/Shark is dangerous to swimmers, fish, and annoying creatures alike. The horn, however, has many uses, from being a weapon, to perhaps a potion/spell/magical thingy ingredient...

Go ahead, what\'s the worst that could happen? :)
Nice ideas by the way.
-
Okay, I revived the thread. I think the worst that can happen is if people start listing uber thingies of Uberness and Weak Things That Are Insanely Weak.
Thansk for the compliment on my ideas. Now for another idea. Methinks that the Haunting Spectre is too much like Dementors in Harry Potter series...
Name: Cave Raven
Description: Basically a raven that has adapted to life in the caves, but not quite. These birds are rather large for a bird, but they have been tamed by a currently unknown race and have been used for mounts to get around in the cities of the unknown race. These ravens, like their counterparts outside of the caves, are highly intelligent birds, as well in the general style of appearence. However, the Raven differs in many ways, most notably three things. The sheer size of the Raven intimidates many, and the unknown race uses that to their advantage. As it has been brought up as a mount, this is another great difference. The third difference would be the ability to navigate through the dark as if it were day.
The Raven attacks using its sharp beak and talons. It approaches silently, except for the quiet flap of its wings, and when the unwary prey looks up, it is usually too late. The prey will either be eaten immediately, or frozen in their tracks by great fear. When the Raven is being attacked, or attacking something that fights back, it will use its wings and a sharp caw in addition to the talons and beak. Usually this is in addition to the rider on its back, and the weapons the rider is wielding.
(Note: Someone, I don\'t care who, can create an idea for the \'unknown race\' mentioned. This is a different race than the ones of Yliakum. Did I spell that right? Anyway, someone can create a race that use these birds as mounts.)

Nightstalker Height: 10ft Shoulder: 6ft
Level: advanced
Appearance: Large mammal-like creature of Genus: Night stalker. This is one of many species that can exist.
Behavior: The males (depicted) hunt alone and are very territorial and aggressive. If one is chasing you, and you can\'t defeat it, it would be a good idea to go find another because then they will fight w/ each other rather than you.
Attacks: Claws pierce all but magically reinforced armor. Animal has some simple magic that enhances its senses and strength. When attacked, it will try to magically paralyze its adversary.
NOTE: Females are smaller, with more dull markings, are not as powerful and hunt in packs of about 3-7.
NOTE: I was going to add wings, but the paper wasn\'t big enough.
EDIT: added url:link to picture (http://327084000.home.icq.com/Nightstalker.gif)

Love all the ideas.
No one has thought of taking advantage of all the crystals though.
Name: Sentient Crystal
Class weight: Multiple levels in the medium to high range
Physical Traits: Floating crystal of Varing size Color of the crystal indicate its magic specialization
Physical Attacks: none
Magical Attacks: Different spells from the various Ways Red crystals have spells from the red way and so on and so forth.
Items Dropped (if you need an idea):
crystal shards. Can be used in making magical implements and charms or sold for money
Life/Hit Points:
depends on level but the higher level crystals have a lot
I know not well thought out yet but seems like a class of monster that would fit well in the setting.

... While I don\'t think other games have this yet, I think that there could be things known as \'weak monsters\' and \'especially strong\' monsters. What I mean is something like this. Lets say that skeletons are thrown into the game, even if they don\'t want to be in it. There could be skeletons who just aren\'t that skillful at fighting, but there could be skeletons more skillful at it. To distinguish the weak from the strong, we could do either one of two things. Either fight the thing and learn the hard way, or give them different ranks. Things like \'\'skeleton warrior\' and \'skeleton knight,\' \'ekeleton squire,\' and so on. No, this is not my monster idea. But I think that instead of making Goblins and Orcs superweak, which, in my opinion, is a HUGE mistake, we can make some skillful and others not so skillful.
Your opinions on this? I especilally abhor the idea of making every single Goblin in the game weak... If they\'re in... Now for my mosnter idea. Tjhe monsters beforementioned were just examples.
Name: Brown Fairy
Description: These faries, when they entered the many caves of the world, gave up their ability to fly. They did, however, retain their magical abilities, and are especially adept at casting spells of the Brown Way. They are miniscule beings, and are highly swift of foot, and usually carry a miniscule staff and bag of magical items as well.
Brown faries look like midgets made of earth, to put it bluntly. They are anywhere from about 6 inches to a foot in height, and have something sticking out of their shoulder blades because their wings have not faded entirely as of yet. Usually carrying a staff of some sort as well as a bag of stuff, they use these things to aid them in their casting of spells.
Brown fairies, when fighting, generally prefer to cast spells o fthe Brown Way at a distance. The more reckless of them may cast spells as well as rushing into combat, hitting random things with their staff and bag. Brown fairies are swift of foot, to compensate for their lack of flight, and can see well in the dark. Brown fairies are suspectible to attacks of the Blue Way and are resistant to attacks from the Red Way. If they\'re actually hit in the first place. If anything actually catches up witth them in the second.

That is a good idea wormtail but im sure some games probly have that but it should be added. I still want to see variety of monsters though.
-
General Name:Underground Trolls
I\'m not sure for the Name though
description:
Depending on their rank, they go from very little(smaller than dwarf character) to somewhat bigger, (same height as dwarf character)
They have long pointy nose and ears, usually no hair, sometimes they wear headgear and armor that only they are able to wear, but it\'s made of precious metals.
Their skins are dark greenish, and they are usually dirty little things.
Their eyes and teeth glow in the dark.
Weapons/skillz:
They are not too strong, in fact a beginner can take on one of them, but the thing is no one will be fighting against a single of these creatures.
If a player happens to find this troll, and if the troll sees the player, which he deffinately will due to trolls night vision and good knowledge of his undeground city, the troll will immediately run, and it will run until if finds at least 5 or more of his comrades. Then, only them they will all attack a player. Like I said, due to their good vision it\'s impossible to hide from them, so the idea is to run away to the sun if they overpower you.
They mostly don\'t posess any weapons, and they bite, kick painfull points in your body, mosty on leg area. Some of them throw metallic rocks at you which will deffinately hurt you.
They don\'t posess any magic, although, if they happen to come up too far from their city, their night vision goes away and they become blind. It\'s a good way to trick them into a trap. They will only follow you though, if they have like 10 of them at the same time.
Location:
They are not rare creatures, but very very hard to find because they live way underground and only in areas famous for expensive metals. They live in little cities that can go from 10 to 15 little huts. These cities are very very deep and if one happens to travel there, he better know how he got there because the path is long, repetative, dark, and down hill.
Loot/reward:
Like I said, armor that they drop is made out of pricy metals because of their strength and beauty.
So they will usually drop helmets, chest, shoulder, leg pads, etc.
Hostility:
They are hostile to anyone that is not them, so if somebody happens to have a spell that makes them look like these little trolls, that person could be very very rich if his spell is long enough for his to penetrate inside the city and backstab a few of the trolls when the others are not looking and take thier loot.
-
Wormtail alot of games have your weaker version and stronger version idea (like both Diablo and Diablo 2) - it is a VERY GOOD idea though. I would love to see that implemented since all high level areas wouldnt contain the same always high level monsters... afterall you can only kill dragons for so long and still have fun doing so... A good example is found in Diablo 2 : LOD -> the hardest / best to kill monsters in the game are the magical cows in the secret cow level - so high level characters do them over and over again... that is fun for the first couple hundred times, but gets old fast... having monster difficulties increases the diversity of the monsters since there are more monsters of each difficulty.
As for my monster:
Name: Radiant Crystals
Description: These crystals are divided into 6 categories, each representing one of the magical ways: there are red, blue, borwn, crystal, azure and dark crystals. They float about 1/3 meter off the ground and are 1 meter tall and about 1/4 of a meter thick.
Combat Style: The Radiant Crystals always travel in packs. Each crystal uses it\'s respective way of magic to better attack enemies (players) or defend/heal the crystals with it. Red crystals use manifestations of raw energy. Blue crystals are deviners. Crystal Radiant Crystals use restorative magic to protect the crystals in their pack. Brown Crystals use nature magic. Azure crystals use the magics of illusion. And last but not least the dark crystals are necromancers.
These crystals (in small groups) are good for mid level parties... but large numbers of combinations of healing and damage weilding crystals would be formidable opponents for high level groups - especially if ideas like circle and group magic are put into the game:

-
hehe, I think I\'m gonna hit the Radiant Crystals on Wings 3D and see what I can make
-
heh this is just like my sentient crystal idea only more fleshed out in a way. and they travel in packs I like it.
-
Ok I drew a picture of a simple Crystaline radiant crystal... *because i dont know how to render lol* -> I hope this works:
http://hostmysig.com/data/drilixer/75631.php
-
woohoo! simple yet sweet -> note that they come in 6 different varieties but since i cant render I made a boring opaque one :)
-
Nice Drilixer. You obviously do know how to render though. What you need to learn is how to apply materials or textures. Thats why they are opaque and uncolored. I was thinking of working up a model of my sentient crystal idea but heck you beat me to it lol.
-
hehe - i dont know any programming language and get bogged down in all renderers - wings 3d comes with a handy \'render\' button though to take pictures and adobe photoshop does the rest :)
ok enough off topic - someone add a monster!
um.. hehe I\'m gonna add another in a moment
-
Might as well create my own \'unknown race.\' Perhaps I will create a type of \'dark dwarves,\' but not that dark, perhaps. I was leaning towards a race of dark elves, but that wouldn\'t be \'that\' original. Anyway, dwarves are rather short in any case. And sturdy. This is more of
a general idea for several types of creatures you can meet and fight. Although it doesn\'t seem right, calling dwarves \'\'creatures.\' Time to stop rambling on and on and on...
Name: Clan Goldgrabber (as usual, another uncreative name from me)
Description: Clan Goldgrabber is another race of dwarves, yet they nhey live in cities elsewhere, underneath the surface and yet far from Yliakum. The dwarves in CLan Goldgrabber, like other dwarves, possess a natural ability in hand-to-hand combat, mining and digging, building, smithing, and especially a love of minerals. Clan Goldgrabber is especially obssessed with gold, as can be seen by the
\'gold\' in the name of the clan. As for the \'grabber\' part, well, that is another matter.Clan Goldgrabber, as said before, loves gold. The members of it will go to any lengths to gain it, either honorable... or dishonrable. They will mine for gold, but the dwarves of Clan Goldgrabber can steal gold as well. Through all the stealth and skills of stealing, Clan Goldgrabber dwarves have become stealthy rogues, like halflings, yet with skill in hand-to-hand fighting and the ability to mine.
Their greed for gold, however, is a severe weakness in the makeup of these dwarves, and has wrought major changes the make them almost a combination of a hobbit and a dwarf.
Appearence: The dwarves of Clan Goldgrabber look like a combination of other dwarves found on the plnet, being short and stocky, not to mention sturdy. However, these dwarves have a stealthy look in their eyes that set them apart from other dwarves in and on the world.
Attack Style: Dwarves of Clan Goldgrabber, when fighting prefer to emply axes in combat, liek other dwarves. They are skilled in combat, but have a tendency to want to disarm their opponent and throw stuff as well. They retain their ability for melee combat due to fighting each other when they catch each others stealing gold from them. However, their skills in melee combat are a bit rusty, and they are easily distracted byt eh sight of gold.
Dwarves of Clan Goldgrabber fight very much like other dwarves, but they are notorious for their taming of the Cave Ravens and using them as mounts for various reasons, smong them, combat. Both the Raven and dwarves of Clan Goldgrabber like shiny objects, so that may hamper their combat ability a bit...
(Note: The friendship between ravens and dwarves is coincidental! I did not get it from the books by J. R. R. Tolkien! I was simply trying to look for a way out of using dark elves! *continues rambling*)

Next Monster in the roster: hehe
Killer Algae: (yeah I know cheesy name)
Every cave has algae in it. But in PS the crystal has caused random mutation in the lichen and algae resulting in a particularly bloodthirsty variety. This monster is most often found carpeting the walls and floors of the narrower tunnels. It is nonmoving and does relatively little damage. However the damage is cumulative the longer you stay on or near the stuff the more damage it does. Chiefly it just makes travel difficult.
Carnivorous Vines: (heh I am all over these cheesy names lol)
Another non-moving monster. It hangs from the top of variouse caves and waits for the unsuspecting passer by. When they pass by it lunges down and grabs them slowly sqeezing them to death while extending roots into the prey to feed. medium damage done but it has an agility malus making it difficult to work free from and kill while trapped. Again the longer your trapped the more damage you suffer so the best defense is a sharp lookout.

err dark elfes known as Drow
and dark dwarfs known as durger
see in AD&D
Those are copywrited...
Monster Name: Falconer
Description: A tall man perhaps of the Nolthrir race, that uses a trained falcon or otherwise bird as his attack. If you kill the Falconer, you also have to kill the bird. They appear in forests.
Appearance: Probably Nolthrir or maybe some kind of elf. He would wear light armor, or maybe some kind of forest garb.
Attack Style: They use their bird as their main weapon, but if the bird is attacking someone while someone else is attacking, the Falconer will use unarmed combat. If the bird is somehow killed before the master, he\'ll go berzerk.

Actually many things from AD&D are not copyrightable. Many of the monsters are taken right out of myths and legends. After playing that game for quite some time I would say about a quarter of it is actually original. Maybe less.
In order to find out if they borrowed a concept or made it up you have to do some research.
-
*Shrug* Well, I doubt we\'re naming races the way AD&D does. Actually, I have little experience with RPGs, therefore making me less apt to discuss features in othe rgames but more able to create brand new races. And anyway, the dwarves seem to be organized in clans (Stonebreaker and Hammerwielder), so I thought that I\'ll do the same, and they\'re not exactly evil, just greedy.
Ahhh, one monster per post, please. See the beginning of the thread.
Name: Ravenous Slug
Description -
Appearence: The Ravenough Slug looks like a huge slug, oozing green slime and covered in brown mold. The Slug is a pale brownish green, and has razor sharp teeth. It also has some balls hanging around the head, full of... stuff.
Combat Style: The Ravenous Slug usually squirts some... stuff... out of its \'balls hanging around the head.\' This will paralyze the target for a while, and then the slug will set to work with its sharp teeth. Due to its ravenous nature, it will attempt to eat the target. The oosze around it serves as a kin dof protection, which many weapons cannot pierce. The mold also serves as another layer of protection as well, but not quite as effecient as the ooze. Most victims usually are paralyzed in shock, horror, and disgust at the sight of such a thing, but the squirt of parlyzing... stuff... is just to make sure that the victims do not run away.
Smaller slugs will nocent themselves with not eating the entire creature.
-
just another criteria anyone who posts here should be aware of - if your monster is from any other game or whatever it wont be in planeshift... this is from venge - dont expect to get orcs goblins or any other stereotyped creatures in... undead are also particularly scorned since they are so typecasted
*be original *cheers**

ok how about this baby
maze monster (need a better name)
this monster hides in special mazelike mazes. it\'s very high level and difficult to beat but it stays in the center of the maze. The creature is similar to a kran in morphology. some say it was a failed first attempt in creating the kran that was hiden in these maze locations to keep from damaging the rest of the planeshift inhabitants. It is huge and slow moving with bashing as its primary offense. Range magic pretty well useless against it. Club and blunt weapons work best. which means you have to get in close to hurt it. leaving you open to its attack. The kran occasionally hunt them in the mazes because theyre bodies are edible and are important ingredients in kran(only) buffing potions and food.
-
if anyone wants a model of their creature I am taking applications for one monster for me to model so PM me if you would like yours to be modeled I can\'t guarantee it will be a good one but I will try my best :-)
-
If Drilixer sounds a bit rude I found, it\'s true that if you want to see your idea in Planeshift (don\'t see why it wouldn\'t be possible) it must be original.
So, how to be creative? If you want something cool, your monster must have a concept. The concept is a strong idea that will caracterize your monster. This idea can make the design a secondary stuff, or it can be a visual attribute.
Here is an example, actually, this drawing and creature will not be used in PS, not good enough, but I\'ve made a concept for it.
A biheaded creature, basically split in 2 part. The concept is simple, this creature comes with a fighting and a magic abilities, but where you think the fighter is the left part, with his big arm, it\'s false, it\'s the inverse creating surprise in the player mind.
This is not great, but it\'s what I call a concept. In this case, it\'s fooling the ennemy.

That\'s all ;)

The Drakklik is a small group of lizard people that live outside the city and like to ambush travellers and explorers. They are nomadic and live in bands. They are as tall as a man, slender and iguana-like in appearance. They move around fast and dart to and fro but are generally weak and an easy kill for newbies. But beware, they work in pairs and often more.
Hit Points: Low
Weapons: A club, knife, small sword, or none (usually)
Magic: None
Notes: There are different types of Drakklik, from leader of the pack, to a simple theif, ranging in weapons and strength.
I think this would be a great addition to the game because it has variety since you can have different types of Drakklik. This could also be another race, but it would be nice if there was a \'common\' enemy to plauge the citie(s), A raid on the city could also be done, as well as seige of other cities by hoards of monsters like this.

Metalic Jell
Physical Traits
A morphus blob of goo, it rolls along the landscape by throwing itself against it\'s outer cell wall, thus propelling it forward. The apear in any color of the rainbow, and have a perfect metalic sphere as its nucleus; the only time you can see the entire creature is in the day time, as at night it only looks like a light reflecting, bobing, metal sphere.
Combat Attacks
Corrode - The metalic blob secretes a metal-eating enzime, which activates on all metals; including the iron in many race\'s blood. Severly damages metalic armor. Main attack.
Blinding Spit - The metalic blob aims for the eyes, and lets loose a peice of itself with many metalic peices, hoping to blind you. Secondary Attack.
Smother - The metalic blob attempts to leap onto your face and smother you by going inside your lungs (if you have any) or covering your mouth until you run out of breath. Does moderate damage. Finishing blow! :P
Lifestyle
The metalic blob roams the interior and areas near cave and mine entrances, eating all the metalic substances they can get their little metalic nucleus and enzimes onto. They obviously consume metals, and they like eating metals very much. Even to the point of eating very hazardous metals like Uranium and Cesium. How the blob does not die from the irradiation or explode from the chemical reactions of several elements and complex chemicals alchemists do not know... but what they do know that a metalic blob who eats enough metal will eventually divide with all the abilities of their predecessor.
Ability suggestions:
O Metal blobs who have just divided will have a similar color.
O Metal blobs of the same color will band together into larger and larger metalic blobs; the number of blobs contained together as a group will be shown as a humanoid shape with several metal nuclii in the upper middle torso.
O When in combat, if the player happens to hit it with a metal weapon, there is a chance that the metal weapon will dissolve.
O Vulnerable to extreame temperatures and non-metalic objects.
O Can form metal plates on its surface deflecting blows; humanoid blobs can create a sword, sheild, and full body armor on itself, if it\'s eaten enough metal.
Hitpoints: Moderate, though, with the right equipment it will die soon enough.
Armor Class (or similar): Lets just say you\'ll be missing alot. It is a blob of goo, remember?
[edit] stoopid me, forgot what it would drop if you beat it:
It\'s nucleus. The \"Nucleus of the [color] Metalic Blob\" would, when placed in the smelter, would form a random metal bar. If you examined it (had a high mining skill) you would be able to know instantly what it held and would come out to be. Remember, the metal that\'s preduced comes from whatever the most metal the creature ate, so if it eats 40% iron and 60% copper, it\'s nucleus will be Copper. (higher percentage of Metal \"A\" takes precidence over other metals \"B, C, etc\")
A good way to mine without using a pick, i\'d say. :)
Any non-metal item it may have ingested somehow. (maybe it shows in the Blob when its moving around?)[/edit]
I know it may sound like one bad-a**ed creature, but if you wear wooden armor/cast magical spells it\'ll die very quickly. the smaller ones will probably ignore someone who has wooden armor/weapons but will freakin\' swamp a player with metal armor. Basically the monster is there to slow players who dont think in combat. Metal in your backpack? Gone if you drop it away. 8) (aside from money, because the mintery put chemicals on the tria that retard the metal slime\'s liking of it.)
-
Alright, here\'s my idea. I can\'t think of a name as yet, but:
Description:
Deep, deep in dark damp lonely dungeons, black tentacled Things slither noiselessly through the tunnels, hunting rats and other vermin. Their size varies from that of a kitten to a large dog. They resemble slugs, but with more teeth, and with several sets of long tentacles, which they use to catch and paralyse their prey, and for movement - a sort of undulating slithering run.
They are solitary hunters, but they have the ability to telepathically call for help if in danger, summoning any of their friends who happen to be close by.
Overview:
* lives in very deep dungeons
* tentacled giant slug with teeth.
* hunts rats, but will attack solitary adventurers if they get too close.
* medium HP, low/medium attack
* if they get into trouble, they can telepathically call their nearby kin for help.
Attacks:
* tentacle whip - low physical damage, but also some weak poison damage
* grab and bite - leaps towards you, tentacles outstretched, attempts to cling and bite. Bites cause more damage than whips.
* telepathic scream - causes confusion, and summons help
Drops:
Nothing. (Can\'t think of anything that such a creature would own)
Possible extension: Nests, with Queens who would telepathically control their subjects (think shub-niggurath from quake)

Ive said it before and ill say it again MONKEYS, TIGERS and beer if u will all this, and maybe some cake, adds up to all u need
-
im bringin this post back up since for one its on the website, and 2 it interested me, and third its my first post ;)
ok on to my monster, i think it\'d be good to have something like a big black dragon (however you would like to make it) i\'d like to look cool of course, big wings, hopefully tameable/rideable ;) the body has big scales (like on a normal dragon) like a dark red or blue stomach that goes from it\'s neck to the tip of its tail or at least the bottom of its stomach with small scales that look more like plates, its for mid lvl ppl, really high HP (more then normal for that lvl), very low defence (much less then normal), the attack is about 5-20 dmg less then average dmg for that lvl and depending on how much hp u and the mob has at that time, has the skill rage which can only be used at < or = 20% of its max hp which increases its atk, def, atk speed, and lowers its hp over time (but wont kill it) and slows its movement speed alittle bit, it glows a red or something like that aura when in rage, has 2 more skills, Dark Breath (dark way) which does dark dmg and its basicly like a dragon\'s fire breath but with black fire instead, and a skill called Maul which will randomly pick an animation such as bein stepped on (unless its flying), being mauled like a bear (using the claw you hit you), using it\'s wings to knock you back w/ dmg or even just to do dmg making you fall down (chance at least), or even using it\'s body or head to crash down ontop of you which all of them do alot of dmg but its limited to 88% of your max HP (so even a lvl 1 could survive a maul attack) so that way it doesnt get too cheap if its in rage and could 1 hit kill ya normaly or something, its normal attack animations are a combination (if u can make them happend randomly) of a normal fire attack, claw attack (several different animations hopefully), and maybe some tail attacks if necissary (or however u spell it, :S)
heres a good idea that i wouldnt mind too much
heres an idea for alot of mobs though, i\'d like it if they had alot of mobs of different lvls and mid lvl mobs (kinda like having a mob for every lvl) to adapt to everyone\'s fighting style, such as some want challenges, others want fast kills, others just want a way to use their fighting techniques instead of trying to adapt changing it alittle bit or alot, but my main point is having mobs of all types, high EXP, low exp, mid exp, high exp mobs have certain higher stats and attributes and to even it out lower in the rest, the mid exp are normal, and low exp have many lowered stats/attributes and rarely any thats been increased, but with a much lower exp, i think this would help for some of those ppl who would rather get the easy exp instead of having a higher chance at dieing, and others more of a challenge which will test their skills, fighting techiques/styles, and maybe even being able to test out new skills to see how it goes against harder mobs
-
name: Reaver
type:silicon based thingy, sortof a cross between a kran and a monkey.
intelligence: animal, likes shiny things, wears/carries them. also likes nifty shaped bones.
combat: individually, mid level, fairly tough hides(stone) good hits, resistant to magic, similar to low/mid level kran.
society: hunts in packs, for unknown reasons. a brutal creature.

How about some drunk ppl in town. easy to beat and for a small reward (let\'s say they carry the money for a beer or 2). Great for new players to get started on. and to get to know the fighting system.
-
Name: Kel\'Thuzad
For very HIGH level players, it takes at least 6 to kill
Description: A ancient necromancer who died in the great war of Quel\'Thalas. He was buried in the graveyard war the war had accured and came back to life as a undead necromancer. Now he brings back all the dead in the cemetary and is known to some as the \"King of the undead\". He wears a blackcape and dirty rags. He has a staff with a ox skeleton head on the tip and has a long beard. He wears a ox\'s skull on the top of his head too.
Life points: Very high
Attack types: Uses his staff to deal massive poison and/or disease damage. Summons undead to aid him.
Items dropped:
alot of tria (money; common)
scepter of undead (power of Kel\'Thuzad; only one in entire PS existence)
shield of necromancery(summons undead, MAJOR disease and poison resistence and alot of armor; ultra rare)
Undead king ashes (can sell for a lot; always dropped)
And it would be very hard to spawn.
So, what do you think?
-
Yea i know, my monster rules :p
-
no it doesnt rule and it would get plane shift sued for copy right infringement Kel\'thuzad is the name of the lich who you fight with in warcraft 3 reign of chaos in the campaign come up with new names and ideas! instead of stealing from those have allready made some. The whole idea of this gamei s to stay away from the ideas of most other gmaes and to keep this orginal
-
Name: Venomous Vfam
Appearence: These look like giant rats, with red and green teeth, asa well as greenish claws. The fur is dark, and it has no tail. It has four legs, and three eyes. The middle eye cannot be seen easilty, for its purpose is to sense heat. The other two eyes are near it and use vision as we know it.
Attack Style; The Vfam uses its claws and teeth to attack, and can jump twice its height. Its attacks are monstly poisionous, when using the teeth or claws. Vfats usuallly hunt in packs of five, and seem fond of surrounding the enemy and hitting from sahdows. The Vfam is a more-than-decent hunter in the dark, using its heat-eye and nose in conjunction to attack with deadly accuracy. The Vfam may spit, but it will only poison if the spit touches a wound.
Items of Value:
Poisonous teeth and claws - Can be sold for money, but can be used as decoration. You can use poison as weapon, once it is scraped off.
Fur - Used as clothing, or sold for money. Used for other purposes.
Do not eat the meat of a Vfam, as it will poison you and you will be seized with nasty maladies.

When you put it like that, every name every where and every thing every where is possible to be copyrighted by someone and also used by everyone, like cmon, what game doesnt have a warrior or a mage or something? does that mean they can get sued? Take my name for example, according to your logic since my name is related to josanator, then terminator should sue me cause i took their concept.
P.S. If it makes you feel any better ill rename him Kel\'ThuzaRd!
Meant to make this a edit, sorry :/
-
the reason it is copy right infringement is die to the fact that the whole creature you took out is Just the warcraft 3 guy dont give me anybs about it just being the name.
\"A ancient necromancer who died in the great war of Quel\'Thalas\" that is also taken directly from war craft 3. So in other words Think of new cratures yes you can use lichs but not when they have the exact same back ground and name as creatures in another game. and calling him kel\'thuzaRd would not help either changing whether it is upper case or lower case means nothing.....

josanator quit spamming plz

Monster:
Name: Silth
Classweight: average leveled
Physical traits: It looks like a red scorpian that is from head to tail about the length of a man\'s height and it\'s tail would reach the hight of a mans waist.(confusing eh?) anyway, it would have claws instead of pincers so it would be able to dig. is also very fast
Physical atacks: Dig (it digs underground and it\'s tail srtikes out of the ground at you) this does a little ammount of damage but can poisen you./ Stab (Obviosly it strikes at you with it\'s tail above ground) this does much more damage than dig but it cannot poisen you.
Magical attacks: poisen in dig is dark property
Items dropped:
hexa(uncommon)
scorpian tail (sellabe for a decent ammount of money/common)
bottle of poisen (upgrades dark magic level if you are high enough in it, or poisens you /rare/sellable for large sum of money)
Life/hitpoints: medium

Hi guys
Name: Fangs, (comes in different varieties; black fangs, white fangs, silver fangs and gold fangs.)
Description- all of the above are doberman like animals, with sizes varying. Their fangs are their defining features
They differ in level with the first type being the lowest lvled and \"gold fangs\" being the highest. Their attacks are similar but, \"white fangs\" and \"silver fangs\" instead of bitting like the others can use some azure magics to confuse their opponents.
They hunt in groups and have the ferocity of the wolf.
they drop their fangs which can be melted to extract the raw materials from which they are made of. the silver and white contain some traces of magic materials. But the gold is the most valuable ( ofcourse that varies from person to person depending on what they want it for).

How about some cute but deadly monsters.
An example:
Killer Rabbit:
Dificulty:great
hostility:rare random encounters
Abilities:very strong,very fast,tolerance to all spell types.
Weakness:holy hand grenade(just joking)Light weapons
Treasure:just a white cape.
Based on the rabbit of the monty python movie(Dont remember the title)
A few but cute low dificulty monsters would not be bad as targets for tamers and chars who want a cute pet.
Why everyone wants the Big KICK @SS pet?
Reminds me the unrealistic char at S.W.G that enter the town with a kimojila, jeesh a pet half the town.
At the point the road ends,my life beggins.
When the wolfpack calls,i am there for them.

lol, Sacred Graal roxors :D
My one:
Mad crystal:
Difficulty: easy
Hostility: can appear from time to time, especially against miners and in dungeons.
Skin: the old MB skin
Abilities: Can clone. Deal some continue damage to close monsters/players. Explode (small damage) Particularly dangerous against fool who try to pick it n times before remarking they are surrounded and near death.
Story: The Great crystal radiate so much energy that some rocks transform themselves to small copies of it. However, unlike the great crystal which radiate life, they radiate only death. They are quite instable so explode randomly. More they clone themselves, more their life expectancy decrease.
Weakness: They can\'t \'fight\' distant players. An archer/mage can watch them explode without danger. Small life expectancy

Greetings and salutations i am new to the PS universe but have made myself very familiar with it through these forums i was reading your ideas for monsters and began to form some of my own but was wondering one thing: you say that the dev want new and creatvie monsters, so am i correct in assuming that they dont want rehashes of the standard skeleton, zombie, ghost, etc.

Yes.

They use their hands to do a hammer fist attack.
Can cast sleep using their eyes. Hypnosics (cant spell)
Can be disguased as rocks, and fools who disturb them....beware.... :)

Name: Hermite
Detail: Half Horse, Half Crab
Combat Style: Stomp and Use Crab Arm
-
Name: Odattym
Physical Apperance: It has a natural camouflage that protects it from being detected by unwanted eyes.
Its four arms work totally independent on each other, and works mainly as extra legs which it uses to make its way through the caves it lives in.
They\'ve got eyes that are perfectly suited for complete darkness, but are very sensitive to any form of light.
Weapon: Mainly sharp objects like rocks.
Magic: It\'s too primitive to use any form of magic.
Attack: Backstab, Flurry (rapid hit), Grip (Makes you immobile), Rage (+strengh, +constitution), scream (when the creature dies it screams in such agony that the attacker has a 75% chance of being stunned for a while)
Nature: These creatures lives exclusively in caves and other dark places. They fear light since their eyes are built for total darkness, and flees when exposed for any form of lightsource.
Odattym live in groups of 5-12 individuals. They are said to take their energy entirely from the darkness, and therefore they have no need for food or water. When they attack its mostly to defend their territory, but as long as they doesnt feel threatened in any way, they prefer to observe and steal things from unguarded backpacks.
Loot: All kind of stuff they steal from uncautious travelers, and junk they have found in their cave.

Odattym
BTW. Sorry for the ugly sketch. It was 2.30 when I made it ;)

Crystal Dragon (would come in one of the \"way\" colors)
physical appearance and other info: their bodies are partially transparent crystals. other than that they are in the form of a fierce and very large dragon. they usually make their homes in caves with many valuable crystals. adventurers will often hunt these dragons to gain massive amounts of trias, hectas, and octas. but very few live to claim their wealth. it has sharp blades of crystals running down from its head, down its back, and to the tip of its tail. as well as 1ft long claws. its teeth appear as the blades of finely crafted daggers lined up and made of crystal. its eyes would glow and beam the color of its crystal body.
magic: its magical abilities would go with its color respectively. the strongest magics of that way.
physical attacks: uses its tail to whip at its enemy and claws to swipe at them. sometimes it will attemp to jump on its enemy, instantly crushing and killing them. but it cannot jump very high or very far due to its size so the victim would have to be foolish enough to stand that close to its feet. it will also snap at its enemies, usually doing crippling damage if not killing its enemy when the bite succeeds. the crystal dragon is slow but extremely powerful.
difficulty and hp: very high hp, maybe highest in game. it is extremely difficult to defeat and usually takes a well balanced party of 5 people to take it down, assuming each person is experienced and strong in their specialized abilities.
loot/rewards/drops: if a few individuals are lucky enough to take this juggernaut down, they would get to salvage as much of its body as they wish to sell for tons of money. though they may take whatever they wish, the most valuable part of this dragon is its eyes, as they have a beautiful glow and are the purest and finest part of the dragons body. you might also find very powerful magic items and weapons heavily enchanted with whatever way magic the dragon used. magic items droped would vary, but would drop something each person would find very useful. for examplw. if you have 2 archers, a mage and 2 warriors, it would drop 2 warrior items,2 archer items, and one mage item. this way everyone is happy with what they get and there is no dispute over \"who gets the loot\"

Name : Arcana? Arcane Shadows? (Trying to think of something based on magic, or arcane)
Physical Description : Slightly transparent (NB: can the engine do this?) Multi-coloured
(Like a rainbow of splotches, with no concieable patern.) Again, if it\'s possible within
the engine, I think it would be cool if the colours changed / moved. Roughly Human shaped,
about Shoulder height with elongated arms.
History : When large (usually multi-person) spells are cast, they can take on a life of
their own - literally. Normally, if the spell is completed (fizling is completion,
just not the desired one) then the magic is released back into the world, However, if
the spell-casters leave the spell un-completed, say, for example, they were all killed by
(insert evil moster here (EG orcs)) then the magic is not released - it is trapped until
some kind soul sends it back where it belongs (IE: kills it)
Designed for Medium - High levels (The size / intelligence / health can be varied on the
spell and it\'s level of completeness)
Attacks :
Melee attack : Flailing Arms
(NOTE: because the creature is pure magic, even it\'s melee attacks should gain the
advantages / disadvantages of magic (IE: it ignores armour like a fireball does, but
suffer\'s spell resistance as a fireball does)
Magic : Can cast small spells as a normal spellcaster does - doing so drains health
as it would drain a spellcaster\'s mana
Health : Varies, but Medium - High
Items dropped :
Distilled magic (perhaps used in mana potions / wandmaking / etc)
or perhaps just Mana potions / wands / magical cloaks....
-
Name: Field hunter (If you can come up with a better one, please tell me...)
A large beast, perhaps 1,5 times the size of a horse. It has long spikes on it\'s back, a long tail and several horns pointing backwards. It is about as long as four men, but most of the length is the tail, which is slightly longer than the body and head. The head is bare bone and has long narrow teeth. It is a fourlegged beast and rather fast. It has short gray fur.
Average difficulty
Attacks:
*It bites and shakes the victim (Strong attack)
*It can swipe with the front legs (Medium attack)
*It can whip with the tail in front of it three times after each other dealing three individual weak strikes (Weak attack)
Magic:
*When it dies it curses the one(s) who killed it. It makes any type of healing extremely ineffective and lasts for 12 hours.
Loot:
*If the one(s) who kill it are animal trainers, it will have a small stone that can summon a slightly smaller version of itself that can be tamed and mounted (Always if it\'s a lone trainer, rare if not)
*Some pieces of bone that can be used for armor (Uncommon)
*Money (Common)
*A skull that can be used as an arm piece or shield (Rare)

The Bloodseekers
- describe the monster\'s appearance in detail (include colors)
A Bloodseeker has the body of an wolf and the head of an boar. These creatures have the size of a horse and are extremely muscular, with thin nearly black fur. Their eyes glow red in the dark.
They use to life in wide open areas, but are also seen in forests, always driven by their bloodthirst. You can hear their angrily grunts from far.
- briefly describe any combat styles (how they attack, what body parts they use to attack, etc.)
Bloodseekers are beserkers. They try bite their prey to death with their enormous jaws, or use their sharp claws slit through light armour, flesh and bone.
These creatures aren\'t too fast or intelligent, but they are pure instincts, muscles and adrenaline!
- please name your monster (we got some without names last time)
Bloodseeker.

this could be like a super rare monster that could be the ultimate task of an animal trainer. it could be in a very high lvl place (probably above ground) and very hard to find (have to find some kind of secret passage deep in a dungeon, fight very hard monsters, then find it) and a warrior could kill it, but depending on how animal trainers will work they will probably have to weaken it first in battle (because of its power it cannot be tamed without showing it who\'s boss first :)) what i think would be kool would be if the dungeon its in is like a mountain, and you fight it on the peak or on a ledge or something (since it flies during battle)
difficulty:very hard
physical traits; huge, aerodynamic blue dragon, has great wings for greater force in flying. has small legs due to the fact it normally is in the air.
physical combat: flight (it fly through the battle, making it hard for anything but ranged to attack until it gets close to you, could be possible to jump on its back until it bucks you off) dragon claws, dive (flies high into the air and nose dives you (if you are on a flying mount you might get knocked off)
magical combat: gust breath (breathes powerful winds, may knock you off your mount) mach drive (finishing move, if your under 10% health he can use it, you are magically forced into the air, then he flies straight through you at very high speed ripping through your body)
mount abilities: once tamed it can use all of its previous skills for you in battle, also has mach flight, which slowly drains its sp but causes it to fly at very high speeds, getting you where you want to be fast.
-
can someone please tell me whether or not this is a good idea?
-
First of all, it is not an original idea. Dragons are over-used creatures in all types of games, and Planeshift is a game that will have unique atttributes. Such as monsters.
The combat seems reasonable to me. It doesn\'t have any especially Uber effects, in any case.
Perhaps a more detailed description of the dragon could be used. All I see is a classic-looking dragon, with blue scales, small legs, and huge wings. Claws come in with the legs, but I assume the dragon has arms. Also, the head could use some description - Does its snout have any special attributes? Does it have a horn? Does it have any especially weak spots along its body, such as behind the wings?
I think that you may want to change the general outline of the monster to a more original form. I mean changing the form from a dragon to something more original, prefarably of your own imagination. Of course, you could base your new creature off your \"Mach Dragon\" attributes, but I doubt that dragons will be seen at all in Planeshift.

Name:
Vlem
Physical Appearence:
A Vlem usually is small and thin. The skin is the color of clay or rock. Vlem usually stay hidden in shadow, and so the most people see of these creatures are either quick flashes of gray and browk. Vlem are roughly humanoid in appearence, as in two arms, a head, torso, and two legs. No tails are known to exist on Vlem. It is believed that the eyes of Vlem glow in darkness, though what color exactly they glow is unknown for certain. Vlem also have thick claws on their hands as well. Most travelers usually see a flying rock coming their way before falling unconscious.
Attack Style:
Vlem, being in the fragile state they are in, prefer to use ranged attacks against melee. They throw rocks, and run away. Vlem are normally peaceful creatures unless someone comes with either a bright light, the Vlem is threatened, or the Vlem is hungry. If cornered and no stones are to be had, the Vlem will claw and bite at the assailant, either knowing or unknowing what they were doing.
Magic
It is unknown whether Vlem use magic to a great degree, but it is known they do use magic. They use magic to create solid energy balls when no other alternative for getting rid of someone is seen, or use magic to heal. That is the extent of knowledge on the Vlem\'s expertise on magic.
-
How about a huge jellyfish-type creature? It could be water-dwelling or can be a flying. Maybe when you kill it, the tentacles could seperate, then you\'d have to kill them individually.
-
Name- The raven of The Morrigan
History- The Morrigan was a Celtic goddess and had many guises one of them was the raven that would fly over the battlefield and land on the dead.
Takes to kill- Any one but the loot is deadly.
Loot- Death for if you kill this bird it brings only death.
Appearance- A black raven flying or landing on a dead man/woman.
Magic- One of the Morrigan guises was a giantess clothed all in black for fighting. But unless the devs want her as part of a quest then in her raven form no magic.
Benefit- If you see a raven flying over head then you know a battle will be started soon..
-

Once again, please suggest original and new ideas. Such ideas probably have not been thought of before, and unoriginal ideas have probably been thought of for over 100,000 times.
Name :
Cave Shifter
Physical Appearence:
The Cave Shifter looks like a robed bat with longer legs and no wings. It has claws, as well as sharp fangs. The main colors are brown and black, and they shift around on the creature, giving it no definite color. However, the colors are always shifting in the main, dark colors of brown, black, and gray. This is part of its name.
Attack Style:
The Cave Shifter usually lashes out with its claws or fangs, and then vanishes behind the opponent. The Shifter is a deadly opponent, as one cannot be sure of where the Shifter will disappear to next. The Shifter is actually not that powerful, but it can give the appearence of being so by popping up where least expected. Sometimes.
Magic :
The Shifters only known magical power is to shift between two different areas. They are only able to do it for a short distance (5 meters at max.), and it has been proved that they will immediately start a retreat once their power is nearly exhausted.
-
Could there be monsters that they are not aggresive like they dont attack if they dont get attack so they just walk around? So its a peaceful animal and is easier to tame.
-
I do not see why not. As long as such creatures add to the game instead of just taking up space. Such as having incredible healing powers or remarkable craftsmanship, or something of the sort.
-
Could there be monsters that they are not aggresive like they dont attack if they dont get attack so they just walk around? So its a peaceful animal and is easier to tam
OF COURSE!!!
I won\'t play the game, if there will be only hostile animals! X(
-
Name: Ralmenta (completely random name, just a jumble of random letters)
Physical Appearence:
Ralmentas are usually 3-5 feet in height, with nimble hands and feet. They have six long fingers on their two arms and hands, and their heads are long and thin. The color of their skin is usually a pale blue, and they usually wear robes that blend in with dark caves.
Combat:
Ralmentas generally prefer to avoid combat, but when provoked, use their magical power to stun an approaching enemy. Then the Ralmenta will run away. Most Ralmentas will use any method of combat to secure them a path to run away, such as slapping with magical hands (which will stun the opponent). They are intelligent, peace-loving beings that will only knock out an enemy to run away.
Magic:
Being extremely powerful healers, Ralmentas are experts in the Brown, Crystal, and Blue Ways. They will heal anyone that is injured, and ask only for tools in return. Ralmentas will use magic to do other things, such as aiding in repairing and communication between each other.

Name: Blood Joker
Classweight: Intermediate Advanced
Physical Traits:
(http://img15.photobucket.com/albums/v46/Kuiper/PSmonster.jpg)I\'m thinking it\'ll be around 3 or 4 feet high.
First off the monster does indeed have 2 heads. The head that looks bloody is the head of anger. When the head of anger is dominant it does physical attacks. When the head of joker comes out it looks like its happy. When the head of joker is dominant, it plays jokes on you by casting status effects and laughing at you. If you encounter on that is happy and you attack it with physical attacks causes it to get mad. But it can become happy again if you cast a healing spell of you. If you encounter one that is already mad, casting a healing spell will make it happy.
Physical Attacks: Slap, Claw Swipes, punch, blood drain.
Magical Attacks: Status Effect spells
Life/Hit Points: High
-
I don\'t like the idea of killer dogs, bunnies, kitties, ect.
... I want monsters to be in ps not household pets.
Newbie monsters could have week stats yet they could still be a bit more creative.
-
I dont mind animals as enemies, as long as they are things like bears, wolves, tigers, ect.
NOT RABBITS, KITTIES, TURTLES, OVERSIZED LADY BUGS... gay stuff like that...
But as far as im concerned, the ideal monster is a nice big, ugly, scary, mean orc... and dont forget to give the orc offencive boddie oders...
-
Here\'s a traditional style medieval monster.
Name: Gremlin
Level: really easy to kinda hard
Description: short, like 2 1/5 feet high, dresses in blue, red, green, brown, silver, or gold, depending on difficulty.
Wears a little pointed cap, baggy clothing, and those little shoes with pointed toes that curl up, like jester shoes.
Physical Attack style: anything from punching or slide-tackling to using little crossbows or daggers for the higher levels.
Magic Attack Styles: mostly no magic, but have slight resistance to it. The higher level ones have spells like St. Vitus\' Dance (interferes with player control of character) or a simple earth one like slow.
-
I hope that there will be variations to the monsters.
Say you have a \"Dark Warrior\" or somethin. They could have different weapons, one has a sword, one has a mace, one has a flail etc. and he drops that weapon when killed.
I also think the monsters should have different HP, like a monster has a HP range of 50-75, so there are weak and strong variations of a certain monster. In some games (runescape), you can calculate exactly how many monsters you need to kill to get to the next level. HP variations would solve this problem.
Also, the monster should drop what you see. I hate games that when you kill a monster with really cool armor on, and you can\'t grab it and wear it!
OK, now for my monster idea...
Name: Ris-Salda
Description: A Ylian-looking necromancer; wears black robes; carries a Salda Staff.
Physical Attacks: none, except maybe hitting you with his staff.
Magical Attacks: Fire Bolt - Stream of fire shoots from the tip of his staff. Dark Wave - Black and purple lighting is fired at you. Chaotic Trance - Makes you lose some of your speed and endurence until the trance is broked (i.e. when the Ris-Salda is dead)
Drops: Salda Staff - weak staff used for some offensive spells (always dropped)
Tria- small to moderate amounts (Usually dropped)

Chickens... you know, the one from Zelda.
-
That is lot of monster, but how about animals? Just like the chickens of Guardia they might defend themselves. Also a defenseless creature like a chicken might be fun.
Their only purpose is to test your new weapon or let go of your frustration. Someone who has played Dink Smallwood knows what i am talking about. Could be something cute and soft reproducing fast and common in some areas like furbies or those of startrek.
Could be the chicken Guardia mentioned.
-
chickens and more of those \"monsters\"(tough sooner wanna-be monsters:P) would be good to get your first exp, and maybe even make a few hens for \"boss-type\" arround the chickens:D

-
or showing a rooster in his backpack, and then put it above the fireplace in the inn and then eat it:P
-

We\'re trying to be original here(I guess, for the most part)

The more original, the better.
Name: Plahr
Description: A dark-furred, boar-like mammal that dwells mainly in the Stone Labryniths. A single horn is above the tip of the snout and can be used as a deadly weapon, and is the Plahr\'s main source of magic, but the Plahr is actually quite docile once captured and tamed. In the wild, it tends to be quite cautious and avoids contact with others. Plahrs are hunted for their fur, meat, and horns, but are difficult to kill or even track.
Normal Attack: The single horn is used in charging at others.
Magical Attack: The Plahr uses its horn to fire an electric charge to stun opponents. Due to that magical property, Plahr horns may be highly valued as ingredients or materials in making... stuff.

Tanyo congrats !! Youv just created one of the most overused fantasy creatures in life. Didnt you read the big originality discussion at the top of the page?
-
Name: The Hlur
Description: They look like your everyday normal babboon (or if one would like you could just use some other animal such as an ape or chimpanzee, boy that\'d be hillarious X3). Upon closer inspection, you will be able to see that their ribs are some what deformed, bonier and larger. But usually if you\'ve gotten that close to them you\'ve already discovered why: when approached or taunted it\'s whole chest and stomache turn into a \"mouth\", with the ribs being large, skinny teeth. If one is caught by the teeth, one would then be digested by the mouth (I think it\'s obvious that the digestive system of the Hlur is much differently positioned and shaped). Besides that, it looks like a normal babboon, except those few times when one of the Hlur can be caught off guard and seen with his \"teeth\" hanging from his body, as if he is lounging.
If this didn\'t paint a good enough picture of them, I could draw you one up and send it, or you could use this ascii model XD
\\_O_/ = | =
= | = = | =
/\\
Combat: When first taunted or trespassing their territory, they lunge at their prey with the teeth spread out left to right. If this attack does not work, then they tend to fight defensively from there on, and avoids attacks by circling the character very quickly, and once it finds another vulnerable area it lunges at the prey once again. Very rarely do they attack with their arms or legs, unless their main attack is somehow impossible to use.
I didn\'t post any stats like what level characters would fight it because Darkmoon said \"- no damage/skill/attribute/other stats.\" But if I had to give you my opinion, this would a rather high level monster depending on it\'s size. Like there could be baby Hlur or elder Hlur that would be weaker. Or pregnant Hlur which could be rather immobile X3.
-
Name: Boggart (no, not like harry potter)
Description: Takes the shape of whoever is fighting it, but there is one flaw that distinguishes it from a \"real\" person. (f.i. head is slightly too big, has tiny feet, etc.). A mischevious monster, rather than attack you on sight, it will ask you some type of riddle. If you answer the riddle correctly, it will give you an item. If not... Well, be prepared for a battle. Lower level players could escape from this monster unscathed if they knew the riddle. This could be something from the player guide or similar, to stem the tide of clueless players (\"Hey you! Better go read the guide or a bogart\'s gonna eat you!\" ). If you saw my suggestion in another thread (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=9332&boardid=11) these monsters would spawn chasing a kran (not wishing to make a racial slur, but this would supposedly be because a kran would be easier to fool regardless of the sole deformity that sets the monster apart from a real player)
Combat Style: It would mimc the attack of the player most of the time, though with a lower amt. of damage dealt. Occasionally it will change to a small shape and run behind the player before resuming its previous guise.
Magic Attack: If there will be things similar to \"status ailments\" a la final fantasy, this monster will cause \"Confusion\". Three guesses why ;)
Weelllll... Whaddya think? XD

I have an idea for like a forest of eyes, where everything living (and dead) would have like... a million eyes.
1st Monster: Ketterling
Description:
A huge (10-15 feet long, 8 feet high), long (lanky would be a better term) body with a knobbish sort of head. Its body is covered in dark blue fur. Its knobbish head is covered with eyes on top, slowly getting bigger as they get closer to his back. The eyes are oval shaped, and are black with many swirling dark colors in them. The mouth is hidden within its fur, but it has many small teeth. Its long arms get bigger as the near the hand, which seems to suddenly end, where slender claws extend. These claws are a dark red with a bit of black.
Combat: Slashing with claws (which could take a head off), beating you to a pulp... then eating you.
-
2nd Monster: Mushroom... with eyes?
Description: Just a giant mushroom filled with eyes on its cap (the top of it).
Combat: Emitting deadly toxins into the air.
-
Name: Ynish
Description: An Ynish\'s body is shaped much like a bull. The differences are great, though. For one the Ynish\'s body color is that of something burnt, like a charcoal and has no hair on its body. You can see the explanation for this when you see the fire seeping through the cracks of its mouth and eyes. The Ynish\'s insides consist of fire. Its horns, too, are different. The horns do not stick out of the sides of its head like a bull, instead about five to ten horns extend from the back of its head, often entangling each other into one big mess. The Ynish also has no hair on the end of its tail. When one is killed, it\'s entire body explodes into flames, so you should be careful ;). Also, some Ynish are known to spontaneously combust for unknown reasons.
::::EDIT:::: Also, their facial features are somewhat stretched, and their hooves look as if they are decayed/decaying, like holes and shtuff in them.
Combat: Charging at you, whipping its head at you, biting, and on occasions shooting fire from its mouth. And when killed it explodes.
-

name: beholder
appearance: from a distance it appears to be a large floating eye,but when you get closer you notice it has no legs, its as large as two ogre\'s and has a huge mouth below its blue all seeing eye.it has no body.on top of its head it has many tiny limb-looking body parts with a smaller eye ball on each one.its usualy a greeny-brown colour but the alpha males turn blood red, said to be related to the kran.
traits: it will and can comsume allmost anything, its stomoch acids are 14 times stronger than a humans, eye witnesses have seen one eat a man with platemail armour on,also known to eat wood.
it has an unusualy large brain for a monster, allthough it still cant think,it has the ability to frighten even the most sturdy warrior with the powers of its mind.
allthough its a frightening creature to come across,it has remarkably soft skin and isnt suited to dealing with spear-using warriors.can only be found roaming alone on far distant plains,on ground level.
the beholder is a creature of high level and some hero\'s say they have slain one and brought home the \"eye of the beholder\".
magic attacks: the beholder has a wide range of dark magics,it will do anything at all costs to keep the enemy stuned, frightened or pinned back due to its very soft skin.
its also completely immune to poison & darkness attacks.also has a 6th sence when it comes to arrow or (if muskets are put in game) bullet fire, not immune to them, but its evasion vs ranged weapons is increased alot.
physical attacks: the beholder is fairly weak in close quater fighting due to its soft skin, allthough its melee bite is weak, its mouth is packed with leathal bacteria that poison the host badly.its weak against spears and slightly against the sword.
hit points: even though the beholder is a higher lvl creature it does have low health.(the idea is if the creature is chosen one of its skills will be some sort of a barrier, ill leave it to dev team to decide.)
drops: (dev team feel free change this) a dead beholders skin is usualy taken from the corpse, its not common but not rare and any leather armour fashioned from it has a strange poison immunity.
and the alpha males(blood red colour beholders) have a small chance to drop the \"eye of the beholder\" witch can be crafted into amulets or other jewelery.
alpha males: these are blood red in colour, and all its stats are slightly more increased than regular, also an alpha males all seeing eye is a yellowish orange colour.
its speed, health, mana and attack rate all increase slightly more than a regular beholder, alpha males have all the same skills as a regular exept one extra(subject to change by dev team)when an alpha male is killed it explodes violently, any fairly wounded hero\'s will be killed by this.

now it been renamed shrapnel cricket, but i couldn\'t change the subject so just ignore it
Shrapnel Cricket:
Physical traits:
they are bulit a bit like grasshoppers but brown, 1 feet tall, 2 feet long, with weaker legs which they cant jump with and most important: a green bulb with a hole (which is about a inch in diameter) which can be aimed in any direction on its back, they got 4 legs and two \"short claws on the bulb\".
Meant for:
begginers - experienced begginers
Attacks:
the Shrapnel Cricket puts a small piece of a stone (fitting the size of the hole) in the hole of the bulb, with the claws on the bulb.
the bulb produced an explosive liquid which is used to blow out the stone at an enemy in an amazing speed, the explosion also heats the stone sending a very small but fast and hot projectile against sensitive parts of the enemies body.
it also basically create bigger explosions within the bulb and then point the hole in difrent directions to send flames in that direction - while being more damaging, it has closer range and quickly uses up the liquid and thus the cricket is usually only able to do this once a battle.
Hostility:
dosen\'t attack players automaticly - but it dosen\'t run if attacked since it is slow and can easily be outrun by the races also dosen\'t follow fleeing players.
Hit points:
very low, it do however have a minor fire resistance due to the bulb.
Drop:
the liquid can be squezeed out and used by alchemists, the amount of liquid one can get depends on how much it used up in the battle.
Food:
insects and spiders which it kills with the small stones from the bulb.
Natural habitat:
Forests and jungles, places with much insects, and the green bulb and brown body is good camoflage in such places.
ok, the apearance was kind of hard to explain, and it was quite a bad explanation too, hopefully someone understand.
-
kazorn u said your creatures name sucks and if anyone can come up with better...i like your idea, how about the name \"radiation cricket\"?
-
dosen\'t really have anything to do with radiation - it blows hot stones onto people...
-
ok how about \"shrapnel cricket\" :P ....plus your creature doesnt spit the stones, well dat wot it says on ur post anyway.
-
i quess youre right... and thats quite a good name - i name it that.
EDIT: a crap, you cant change the subject when ya edit a post, i didnt know that.

Baelorg[/u]
The baelorg is a large creature with dark fur and several horns, claws etc.
The baelorg is about 3-3.5 meters high and very muscular. This creature got dark brown, grey or black fur iver its body. The main shape of baelorgs is pretty humanoid, they stand on their back legs wichs knees usually is abit tilted forward (would be even higher if not) their foots are hiden by a line of longer hair at the bottom of the leg, thought you can still see two thick and hard \'nails\' sticking out from the hooves. Their middle body is shaped like most humanoids but more muscular, instead of normal hands their fingers is exchanged for three one foot long claws/horns/nails. From their head two horns stretch out and they are about half a meter long each and from their cheecks 4 other skeletal parts point out, these are movable and are used to hold food (for exampel a players arm) to the mouth and they are used to eat with. The Baelrog has a wide width between their elbows. Its hard to see wether a Baelrog is male or female because they act the same way and their sexualorgans is hiden by a hairy spot between the legs, the females has no larger breasts then the males.
Attacks:
cut/scratch hits with its long arms towards target and damage the enemy with its three claws (wich is pretty sharp)
hold mostly used against smaller creatures and characters. The Baelorg uses its three fingers/claws to take hold of an enemy, this will inflict damage and make the target imobilised or close to.
butt/gore the baelorg gores an enemy/target with its horns. this is mostly used against other baelorgs to show who is strongest.
Jump not a normal attack but used in combination of cut and roar. In both cases it higher the effectivity of the skills but makes the Baelorg a easy target since it stretches out its arms while in the air.
kick only used as emergency exit and usually damage less then the hands.
parry Its large claws on the hands can be used to effictivly parry against enemy attacks
(half) Magical Attacks
roar[/u] Is no real magic but is a normal roar wich inflicts fear in most weaker enemys, the baelorgs usually stretch emself, look up in the sky and roars befor they attack an enemy, this can bring more baelorgs forward.
Ment for Should be fought by pretty strong players and is nothing for newbies and new characters.
For most player its a good tip to have a magical item with themself when fighting Baelorgs
Hit points Pretty high because their scin wich is found below the fur is hard. Its therefor used for armours in some cases and regions.
Hostillity When hungry it attacks nearly evrything it sees but when it has feed resently it is more carefull and attacks only creatures and players that looks weaker then itself.
Natural Habitation The Baelorg lives mostly in rocky terrains and in hill areas. They tend to stay away from forests and bushy areas.
Drop Baelorg fur (can be used in armours and clothing), Baelorg Horns (it has been noted of people making swords of the baelorgs horns), Baelorg Claws

Geluram Gaurd[/u]
The Geluram has no real body but is instead just a armour that is held thougeter with magic. The Geluram has a dark robe (Can be darkblue, darkpurple, red or black. where the colour can stand for diffrent streanghts) abowe this the geluram has a trunk platemail or scalemail and abowe the spot where the legs should be they got a skirtscalemail. They are about 2 meters high and on their arms they usually got some plaemails. They have a closed helmet wich is usually of a pretty boxy format. From the eyes of the helmet comes a clear light of the same colour as the robe wich the Geluram gaurd wheres, such light but abit less clear comes from all open places in the creatures armour and clothing, if you manage to get a good hit on a Geluram the same light will flow from the hole you have made. The hands of a geluram is sometimes cowerd with armour but when not it has a half transparent smoke/light as hand wich looks very spooky.
The geluram can use many diffrent weapons but the most usuall is that they use maces of diffrent sorts and streanghts. They also sometimes where a sheild, this is usually a pretty large sheild. The gelurams soar about one decimeter abowe the ground and when they move you can see the same smoke/light that makes up their hands float out of their robe below, but not in larger amouts.
Gelurams is about 2 meter high.
Attacks
Hit The geluram hits with its weapon (nearly always mace, axe or hammer). sometimes they also hit with their hands if they have armoured gloves and they can also hit their enemy with their shields
Parry Uses what weapon/sheild it has to defend itself
Magical Attacks
Magical Shoot The strongest gelurams can sometimes shoot a clear beam of light with their weapon that inflict high damage.
Hostillity
Geluram Gaurds was summoned by a hard ritual and strong magic long ago, the first ones where summoned by a wizard named Geluram and that has given em their name but since this was so long ago they are often called more simply as \"Gelurams\" isnteasd of \"geluram gaurds\".
Because they where summoned to defend a area or place they will attack anything but their summoner that enters this area. The strongest plus with summoning of Geluram Gaurds is that they will not simply dissipear when they die but instead a new gaurd will be summoned shortly after their death to take care of the gaurding, this is why the Gelrum Gaurds has survived so long even thought the ways to summon them has been long forgotten.
Ment for
Med. strong players.
Hit points
pretty high.
When you damage a Geluram Gaurd and a wound is made you will be abel to see a light come out of this wound, this light has the same colour as the beings hands and eyes. When a Geluram Gaurd dies their armour and robe will fall to the ground and the smoke/light that makes up the body will go away, but during this process it lightes up in a very strong and intense light for a short while.
Drop
Gelurams drops all their armour, weapons and their robe when they die but usually most of these is to damaged to be usefull or even lift able.

Stigma maybe Phantom Duran *hint*
Every time a regular Duran is killed a phantom Duran is Created and when a phantom Duran is killed a living one is created so it keeps the balance between the items you pick up and you can keep the same cool looking character but make him weaker.
k this would possibly be a super monster or maybe a
rare? idk you guys decide
very much like a knight, with black and red armor but shoulder blades that spike out the sides. appears to be a human or which ever race. but it has no face and no eyes basicly a phantom has a staff very much like the one from stargate. he has dark magic and is immune to spells armor is weaker than it appears and can easily be taken or broken from siege weapons such as hammers, shear brute streangth is this guys weakness but when you take his armor you can get plans for it which if you work hard enough you can eventually craft it, but unlike his armor when it is VERY strong,
Element: Darkness/Lightning
weakness: Seige attacks
HP: very high
Attacks: Dark Storm/ basicly a black lightning bolts
Attack2: Pioson needle points his staff at you and
shoots a poison needle at you it takes time for him to aim but if you give him the time your in trouble.
Attack3:regular staff attacks basic damage
Heavy looking light damage armor.
Speed:pretty decent attack speed.

Unholy Angel
Imagine an angel looking like a deamon. This monster would be very agresive. It has darkened skin and is 8 feet tall.It has tattered wings which are very dark. This angel was corrupted by a demon or necromancer and its eyes glow with red. They are fast and agile and react to situations fast. It cannot fly due to its tattered wings.
Attacks:
Hit with staff
Magic: (It would most likely use magic)
Dark Sphere- Unleashes a ball of dark energy. When you are hit it is a great chance that you will be paralized for a few seconds.
Summon bat swarm- Summons a group of bats to harrass you while it trys to cast a more powerful. Swords are not an effective weppon against them. Maces and magic will do far better. They also do light damage to you.
Fear bolt- Puts fear into the enemy for a period of time. During that time the victim of it has decreased agility and strength.
Dark Ritual- Calls to dark gods to give him unholy power. If succsesful, the angel mutates into a larger deamon. It is now 14 feet tall, its wings have become masive. From this point on it would most likely use melee attacks from its claws gained from the ritual which do good damage. The spell ends when it has disposed of the victim.
This creature is meant for higly skilled players who know what they are doing. Dont use other magic other than holy if you can for your attacks will be far more effective. The unholy angel had high health.
Drops:
Twisted angel staff- Increases dark attacks magic effect by 20%(extremely uncommon, the staff is always still there when it dies but after the beating it must have tooken most likely destroyed it)
Dark orb: A orb that increases dark mana regeneration by 15%.(uncommon)

Super powerful boss monster...
Everquest tried that, a dragon that would take a party of 20+ members who\'re all 40+ in level that would take 40 minutes to kill.
Unfortunately... the mob mentality sets in...
The dragon met a horde (60 ~ 80) of level 10~20 players... the dragon dies within fifteen minutes.

They are fine warriors, and work for anyone who pays them, or beneficts them in some way. The warriers always wear a really strong and resistant armor, the civils are naked in warm places and in freezing wear clothes that they make. TRhe last one, Enter-the-Xero, was awsome! They could be used like winged creatures that we could ride, but only if they trust us enough. I also think they should be like chinese dragons: long body and have equal sized legs and arms, but you\'re the creator, so you thhe one who knows.

They usually live in the undergrounds, like in the Labyrinths or in the Death Realm, in dark places.
You can only attack it when it is attacking you by making any Crystal magic (even if it\'s a healing one) and instantely kills him!

Combat:
Riekal only have one actual combat ability, which is to bite things. However, they\'re usually encountered in groups of 2 or 3, and they have a secondary ability they use when they\'re in trouble (when they think they\'ll die in the next hit or two, or when they see one of their companions die): Their antenna can be used to call other Riekal in the area to help.
Riekal are fairly aggressive and not very intelligent, and often times attack creatures and players considerably stronger then themselves.

I am not sure how this game will develop along the lines of enemies to be fought... but there does exist a comprehensive listing of Mythological monsters and gods
http://www.pantheon.org/areas/bestiary/
its pretty solid, Monster i want
Name: Jabberwocky
Classweight: Very heavy
Physical Traits: A Jabberwocky like the poem
Skin Color: I would refer you to the poem
Details: Not a very fast monster, travels with the JubJub bird and the Bandersnatch, making it a formidable adversary. Jabberwocky are VERY vulnerable to vorpal blades, or blades of decapitation.(that could be extended to non physical damage)
Magical Attack: Blind - blinds the player, or reduces accuracy (whichever one is suitable, blinding seems dumb for a graphical game, unless it could be implimented coolishly -[give me time to think of this])
2nd Magical Attack: Hypnotize - Puts the player to sleep.
Physical Attack : Clawx2 - severe damage
Attack 2:
Life: High
Def: Very very High against physical damage
Str: High
MP Power: Med (enought to cast sleep/blind 2-3 times) - no one wants to be permi-blind/sleep locked.
Its associated minions
_______________________________
Name: JubJub bird
Classweight: Lightweight
Physical Traits: a flying bird, It should look scary/Dangerous?
Skin Color: yellow and black with white tips, red eyes.
Details: Fast attacks. Its attacks cause poisoning? Can only be attacked from afar with a ranged or spell weapon.(to force people to party up)
Magical Attack: none?(poison enhanced)
Physical Attack: divebomb - lands a fat shit on the player for damage and poison,
physical attack 2: peck - pecks the player.
Life: med
Def: Low
Str: low
Dex : High
MP Power: Low-med
________________________________
Name:Bandersnatch
Classweight: Heavy weight
Physical Traits: A bandersnatch
Skin Color: Purple and green (i will submit pics if you need them)
Details: Steals defensive items and consumes them. gets double attacks on fear prone characters, triple attacks on children(if age is implimented....), It has a lair, and within are the bodies of its victims
Magical Attack : Paralyze/fear - just like it says, stops players in their tracks(moderate to high effectiveness spell)
2nd Magical Attack : none
Physical Attack : grab - tries to steal defensive items(which are not blessed)
2nd attack: munch - if paralyzed player takes double damage? the bandersnatch will only munch on a player if he/she is paralyzed/fearful. Lots of damage here. If limb loss is allowed, then it would cause a 1/3 chance of limb loss.
Life: HIGH
Def: Low
Str: Meduim
MP Power: Very High - will constantly cast fear/paralyze 1/5 attacks, intelligent- if the player has strong resistances, it will attack physically.
______________________________________
Name: BodySnatcher
Classweight: very lightweight/non physical(ie etheral being)
Physical Traits:
Skin Color: white/blue
Details: slow monster, very stealty, high searching is needed to observe it. Will take control of other monsters, and add its own magic power to their own. gets 2 or 3 magical attacks at once, in addition to the monsters phyiscal attacks. Higher level or unique monsters are immune to this, as to not make them unbeatable.
Magical Attack : fireballs
2nd Magical Attack : mana beam
3rd magical attack : persuasion(will make owners pets go aggresive)
4th magical attack : Suicide (causes the monster to blow up with significant multiplicative damge, causing half?proportional? experience gain)

Physical Attack : none(its insubstantial)
Life: Low
Def: Low
Str: non existant
MP Power: Highest possible

Hmm, making monsters is one of my nerdish hobbies.
I made this one for morrowind but was too lazy to go through all the animations, so it never got off the ground. Additionally, this is one of those models that is not photo hygenic; You have to look at it in a 3d perspective to really enjoy it. Aside from that, Im still kind of a noob, so I am not sure how well this thing would work seeing it was built in baisc pieces for use in a different game. :)
Stats can be determined by devs from desc.. thats the only downside to me; I can\'t accurately represent stats without max/min-ing (Also called being a munchkin I suppose)

Golem Cerberus/Metal Cerberus (I personally use #2)
Description: Cerberus in greek mythology was the guardian of the gates to hades, a three headed dog. Not many people were able to escape such a beast to get out of the realm of the dead.
A metal cerberus is a golem created from a dark metal. It assists its predecessor by not just waiting at the gates, but actively patrolling the dead world. Obviously there is a greater and lesser form; Greater having the three heads while lessers only have one.
Greaters are VERY powerful but may become confused as its three heads quarrel for control as a huge setback, aside from being less intelligent. Lessers are fast, intelligent, but not too strong.
Both share the traits of having a rock hard hide, a heavy body mass and being quite difficult to spot in a shadowy area.
Normally passive and will not bother you unless you attack or irritate one. Additionally, if two are in a close range, they will assist one another if one is under attack.
They have up to four weapons they could possibly use:
- Biting
- Claws
- The nasty end of their tail. ;) (See image.)
- Their body weight in a body slam or charge tackle.
I wouldn\'t expect them to use magic aside from special passive skills, if the devs decide to use those..
Location found in: Dead world, where else? Oh, mabey guarding other important things like ancient ruins of \"If you release the evil within, the world is d00med.\"
The images:
[ Please remember that I said you need to see it in 3d to appreciate it fully; Its just not photo hygenic. ]
Full texture with a fancy background: http://www3.telus.net/redpaint/Metal_Cerberus_1.jpg
And a side view, after forgetting I moved the body texture. Nonetheless, it shows off the body and looks like pewter or something: http://www3.telus.net/redpaint/Metal_Cerberus.jpg
PM me or something if you want the mesh.. though Ill have to go digging through a pile of unlabeled cds. x_x

Hi everybody,
I am new to the forum and hope to be able to contribute a little bit. here\'s an idea for a monster which is actually a pretty basic one but which always is a nice addition.
Name: Lycanthrope
Class weight: Medium to Advanced Medium Class
Physical Traits: Any Humanoid with an animal shape (wolf, big cat, bear)
Physical Attacks: Claws, Bites, Punch
Magical Attacks: Celerity which quickens the monsters attack twice, Vicious Howl which stuns the player for a certain amount of time.
Items Dropped (if you need an idea):
Fur, Claws and Teeth which can be converted into useful items, also as a rare drop Lycan blood which ingested gives special power for a certain time (example: faster attack rate, boosted strength, character regenerates life faster, immunity to disease/poison, .....) or which can be used in alchemy.
Life/Hit Points:
Not too high but very fast regeneration rate
Special Note: Only spawns at night in forests or open plains randomly. By full moon it\'s powers are doubled.

What about gasps and beeeeees :)
They could be very very small with just 1 HP, with low chance to hit you, but when they do, they poison the target seriously!!
They could appear in group in some places like forest or cities. Players could fall on nest :D
gnark gnark gnark!
-
What about orcs?
Orcs
Classweight: Medium-Hard Players
Weapons: Spear, or a Orcish ax
They rage beserkingly and tend to have no mercy on their opponents. They usually go in packs. So when the players go out roaming very fair in the feilds, chance of them beeing ambushed of Orcs is likely.

NAME: True Vampire
NICKNAME: Demon Vampire
Am I mad? Why yes!! It is not jus a simple blood sucker... for this is the True Vampire a very powerfull creature; half human helf PURE EVIL... the creature has a human form yet has fangs to drain his victims of blood. Such a creture does not have to drink blood of a human, or alike, it can drink blood of an animal as well... for without blood the creature shall become weak. Really a true vampire must be at least 20* stronger then a human... or at least 5* stronger the a basic vampire. So what is the difference between a true vampire and a basic one you ask? Well Strength is one regeneration ability is another. A true vampire can regenarate and limb quiker then a basic one, also unlike a basic vampire a powerfull true vampire can even regenarate his/her own head... Also a very powerfull true vampires tend to be able to reveal their TRUE demo0nic form, revealing beast like hungry demons just vaiting to consume it prey: staring with their hungry red eyes, but one such vampire shall only reveal his/her true form to a real aponent... so how powerfull can one be you ask? Well... i remember a rumor, a myth, that a whole army was slain by one... ofcource that is just a rumor... just like the myth of the true undead vampire that cant be killed. They have the ability to turn you into one of their own, it drains their strength so most of the time they turn you into a walking zombie with the soul trapped inside... doesn\'t mean that all vampires kill humans thou...

Very nice drawing, Willen
I would hate to come upon that by myself.

DEADLY MIRAGE
hello ,well i hope you will understand my bad english and forgive me if not,
so here\'s my idea i am not sure if it is hard to made but i think it would be fun to see a monster that can change his appearance to something like a tria on the ground or a broadsword or whatever heh something that will attract player nearby and then rush on him, i dont know what this monster could look like or it could just be a trap and explode or drop a gas that hurt player and in this case it will not be a monster anymore ...
if devs like the idea i think it should be implemented in the end, when planeshift will nearby be released and when more items be available for this
\"thing\" please don\'t burn me for this post thanks to have read it anyway :)
-
yeah great idea sabah i love it i dont know if iits possible they can make also a monster who looks like at a chest ;) when peoplle come for open the chest this chest attack you yeah good trap hehehe :)

Name: Nekhash
Appearance: Angry looking monster with 2 small red eyes, 2 long fangs coming from lower jaw and many more smaller teeth inside the mouth, invisible at first sight. Monster is hairy, lot of fur everywhere. On the face you can see red glowing eyes, and 2 fangs. Everything else is covered with fur. Monster\'s colors are dark brown and black. the fur is dark brown, although since the monster is covered in dirt, mud, and doesn\'t keep itself clean, the fur is different shades of dark brown, brown and occasional light brown. It\'s lips, hands are black. The monster looks small because it\'s back is arched and always sits and its muscular. It\'s 2 arms are close to his chest (like rabbit), although nothing innocent about them. The hands resembes a humanoid hand with a thumb, has 3 long fingers on each hand(including thumb). The monster can grow long nails at will(yeah like wolvorine ) on any finger. The nail can grow fast or slow, doesn\'t matter, one at a time, all at once, doesn\'t matter, monsters choise.
It\'s back is arched, it\'s legs are like cats legs (feline). Although the monster most of the time prefers sitting in upward position, when it walks, he uses his hands and legs like a feline creature.
Skill level: intermediate to expert.
Combat style: The monster is fast, no sense to run from it, however while you run it cannot attack you because it\'s not in it\'s combat position. The monster likes to ambush and attacks players either out of anger or for food. It\'s normal and dangerous attack is with nails. Nails can grow very long and attack from far (well not that far, but..), however to use nails, the monster has to be in sitting/standing position, not in walking position. So whenever you move, monster is forced to move as well and regrow nails. Monster can jump, but rarely does so. Jumping means very quick death for you because when landing on you, monster quickly grows nails that pierce you and hold on to you, then the monster uses it\'s fangs and small teeth to bite your throat. This way you have chance to bleed to death or if you are on low health, it\'s probably death. Although he rarely jumps, (don\'t know why, I guess its hard for it), if you can predict it jumping you can block it easily by switching to full defense mode. This way your shield (or whatever) gets hit by monster and its nails cannot pierce it. Other than that, like I already said, its nails are main attack method and are grown when its not moving, so if monster needs to change it\'s location for any reason, it\'s nails are down and good time to attack, etc.
It\'s nails can do all sorts of attacks and techniques to pierce or slash you.
History:
The name was given based on the sounds the monster makes. \'nekhash\' (try sounding arabic or something, prolongating \'sh\' part) Although monster doesn\'t actually say that, people thought that this name is closest to what it sounds. Few lived to tell the tale of the monster\'s appearance or whereabouts. They live in dark areas like forests, caves, dungeons. People learned that when an area suddenly becomes uninhabited with any life, Nekhash is probably nearby. They are parasites and do not just kill for food, they kill for the fact that they cannot stand any life near them. They are omnivorous, eat plants, meat, fish, etc. They live one by one, not in groups. How they reproduced is unknown to the people.
Ok, that\'s it, hope you like it.

Here\'s a natural way to train Creatures.
What if gobbles, rats, and existing creatures were able to gain expereince?
Now you have boss mob creatures running around that were created naturally from the game.
And it gives mercenaries a job to hunt a troublesome creature.
Newbies will always get killed... which creates a natural progression for toughening an area naturally.
This stems more onto a reason for training, instead of PKing. especially if the gobbles skins were a souce of leather for armor making.
A creature could naturally gain drop items that way, and bandits, rogues, and otherwise which already appear equipable could be naturally popluated in varying levels of toughness by regular game play.
Focusing on the monster population makes more work... and detracts from the core RPG issues, such as item creation, economy, and quests...
There\'s already consumers, gobbles, rogues, bandits, trepors, tefusangs, the dealth realm gate keeper, 12 races in the game, clackers, rats, and probably the odd one I haven\'t unconcered yet.
Monsters should serve a purpose aside from aimlessly dropping goods. When you progress past the basics, hunting becomes a sport/hobby to pass time, and our jobs, life, and acting out our players consumes most our lives.
We\'re not thinking smart enough. We all have good ideas but how can the game be made better with what we have, to limit additional coding for the Developers, all these creatures take 3d models, and for the most part the PS Team, just doesn\'t have the resources.
------------------------------------------------------
** EDITTED OUT A BLOCK **
I editted this out looking for somewhere else to post it...
Prosistions for creatures.
Gobbles could give up leather hides.
teeth, eyes, etc, used for alchemy.
Rats
give up hides.
eyes, could be used as a basic regeant for alchemy.
Consumers
give up hides for items such as scale mail
antennae, etc for alchemy.
Trepors
give up their stingers
I think you get the idea.
Each should give up cuts of meat etc, afterall cooking is going to going by means of health recovery, or something I assume, that players may be required to eat.
Just my two cents... but maybe we need to all figure out what potions and such are feasible, and begin planning the purpose to a creature in the game.
Its fina and all to generate gobs of lists of things... but what purpose are they? And how will they enhance the PS RPG experience?
After looking through the PS Team, Darkmoon appears to be the sole provider... In fairness, I\'m understanding completely where Moogie has been coming from in other posts...
Peace all...

(Continuing the Vandel\'s idea about loot stuff)
_We could loot from Clackers their er... orange thingy (don\'t know how to say in english doesn\'t come in the dictionary) and could be used as a shield, the \"Clacker Shield\"
_Also Rogues, Thugs, Bandits and all those enemies should drop the weapon they are using... so give more \"Realism\" to the game, \'coz if you kill a guy with a sword you\'re able to steal it from him.
-
Looting items, in the sense of weapons and such wasn\'t really what I was aiming for. People would end up with way too much too easily if every rogue dropped his weapons. What I\'m suggesting, is that modifications be made to the existing monsters so that items could be harvested for use with the alchemy, chemistry, potion making type skills, or as regeants for spells.
Just to expand a bit on the moster ideas, to try and give the creation of such new creatures a purpose, instead of blurting out a bunch of random creatures.
Maybe this should be started in a regeants, potions and combinations thread. I\'ll go start it... no sense in bogging this one down...

the Korrigans (Korils)
The Korils, a kind of Korrigans, are legendary monsters...
They like to dance having a party during the whole night and their song is something like \"Monday Tuesday Wednesday ...\" but they dont say anything after Friday !
If you continue their song they will force you to dance with them until your death...
It\'s a religious issue (saturday is know as a christians day and the Christianism is felt like their ennemy). It\'s a little too much easy to sum up their story like that (I advice you to search on the web for more details)
I would like to see monsters like them : Monsters that force you to dance until you die... It would be amusing... as long as its virtual...
Legends are amazing source of imagination !
Do you wanna see a Korrigan ?

EDIT : hey ! is it an older thread for \"monster\" search?
