As a non-native english speaker I am always again confused by people failing to say "would have".
__

The "Troll Bay" is definitely too small.

It's a Chinese messenger, and it's because China has the largest number of Internet users in the world.

of is a preposition. "would of" is totally incorrect, and the only reason people say it is because "have" and "of" make a V-sound, which is all you hear in the contraction of would and have in would've.

Oh sorry, next time I post a comment I will make sure I have a doctorate in, English University Teaching, and English sentencing structure of the English language. Sorry it isn't given to me in High School. This game is 12+ GTFOI.

Sarras doesn't capitalize any of her sentences, and because of this, she is ineligible to critique others on the subject of formulating correct English.

I'm just really freakin' lazy, Geoni. Piss off. Also, I don't capitalize because I'm afraid I will sound pretentious.

I'm lazy too. That is why I don't bother sentence correcting my sentences.

It's always best to sentence correct your sentences before sentencing them to correctness.

Y'know, I love how we're totally :offtopic: right now.

On topic:
There should be a little spot on MMO Isle for tiny open source projects.
Title: Re: map of online communities
Post by: Geoni on October 28, 2010, 05:06:17 am
The open source community has almost no chance in becoming as big as what is seen on MMO isle.

I've heard of a lot of those games on the MMO island, seen somebody play, or played most all of em, they are all retarted in my book.

I have some relatively high standards with games, so its odd i've stuck around PS as long as i have.

It's really good.

Yeah one of my friends at school got me to test a demo, it may have beter graphics and junk, but i dont like it anywhere near as much as PS, ps is just going through 'difficult' times..

difficult times lols.
Well honestly I didn't like WoW mostly because I found it a little confusing and hated the thought of being a noob, but I very much enjoyed CotH

Techincally PS has always been going through "difficult times" especially if you believe that nothing has changed. :whistling: Sorry, just had to toss that out there.

The right wording is "a lot has changed, but _very_ slowly." So, these are difficult times only for the rushing youths.

Yes, in the "so slowly people get tired of waiting and stop waiting in consecutive waves" way. ;)

I call it selection. Rule of the fittest.

It's granted that there are more players that have left than those that have stayed, but such happens with life and death as well. It's just how things go.

We should consider ourselves lucky to see players that have been around for more than 6 years still playing.
Title: Re: map of online communities
Post by: Illysia on November 11, 2010, 05:43:25 am
That or just the most patient for those still around, but consider that many of the people playing are fairly new to the game and haven't gotten involved enough to run themselves off yet. If you are one of those people then heed this advice, don't do it... just play the game and be happy, once you get caught up in trying to really push for change you set yourself up for disaster. Just go with the flow for as long as you can.

We should consider ourselves lucky to see players that have been around for more than 6 years still playing.

This is true. I can only think of one person that as been around that long that plays. But I believe that he goes with the flow for the most part.

I've been around for more than 6 years. So has Jekkar. And I don't know more because I've never cared to hold a list back then of players I didn't interact with, because I'm sure there must be some more in-game.

But I can easily mention some people that have been around before you : Garile, Roberet, Eurac, Evaraj, Shangshi, LigH, Hangatyr... And those are just the ones who've caught my attention.

Post by: Illysia on November 11, 2010, 07:37:42 pm
True, but might I point out the long absences also connected in some cases.... ;) If I start playing the game in two years then I too will count as having been around for more than 6 years... It's not the same as playing through. Even only playing a once a month is different than being completely out of game.  ;) However, it seems to me like the people that do the best are the ones that play without really getting involved too much outside of the game and those that avoid the forums.

Oh, so you're proposing to create a new time counting method where you take into account the time you play and the frequency? You know, that'll require some wicked equation. We're talking about sticking with the game, not about who's playing more.
Title: Re: map of online communities
Post by: Illysia on November 15, 2010, 04:48:57 pm
If that is the case then the old malcontent lurkers probably count too as technically they stuck around even though they don't play.

They'll count once they're back in the game, true.

PS: I'll start replying to you only in PM's. Seems I'm the only one who's not used to your wrong ways, so I'd better study it in private.

Go for it, it's not like I have an inherent need to argue back and forth across several different threads.
