Is there a command which could transfer an item from inventory to currently open container (or other way around)? Setting this to some key would be extra nice, because using mouse for that puts a lot of strain on fingers if there are a lot of items.

I don't think there's a shortcut for that, I'd have to think on seeing if it's possible to write a shortcut that does it... The only issue is that you can't do a shortcut for a general item, you have to specify the name, i.e. /equip Dagger lefthand, you can't code /equip selectedweapon righthand... Just my two cents, if I even happen to be correct on this :P

One example is transferring N stocks/ingots from inventory to the furnace, back to inventory, to the stock casting and back, and again (metallurgy training). Ufff... Saving some mouse activity for that could be useful.

I agree completely, I just don't think it's possible yet... Sure would make smelting and refining a whole lot quicker, huh? :P

Step one is to be able to have two containers open at once. Transferring a hot ingot to your inventory first doesn't make a lot of sense. ;) Being able to transfer from sack to sack or forge to cooling tank for example would be a big help. Of course positioning would be a key with that last one.

There is no /command for transfering items, other then /pickup /drop /equip and /dequip
However holding shift or the left CTRL when you click a stack of items, will grab a single, or a whole stack, without the anooying, how many do you want, screen from popping up.
