Title: Psclient not working
Post by: Lorepius on December 16, 2010, 05:39:32 pm
I use mac, and after I updated to the 0.5.5 version, and now I tried to run PS via the psclient icon. This time, the icon was missing, an empty icon instead of the usual psclient icon. I clcked on it, and it sayes it crashed. I tried it 10 times, and it just says the same message. I tried to run PS via the pslaunch, too, but it just restarts pslaunch.

At what point in the process is it crashing? Having more details about your system and hardware might help along with more details about where in the process the client is crashing. Also have you run a repair using the pslaunch app?

I have run multiple repairs, and the client crashes whenever I try to start it. I use a mac OS X Version 10.5.8, processor 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4.

cd to the folder containing the art and data folder then do ./psclient.app/Content/MacOS/psclient_static. the crash dialog is big in the middle of your screen when it crashes. if you don't see it then it's not a crash but you have bad data or art

I believe it's easiest to come to irc ( http://planeshift.it/irc.html ) and see if you can catch someone who can do a step by step help with the mac console. It might need a little patience though.

Did you move the Planeshift folder form the dmg file you downloaded into your applications folder and try running the game from inside your applications folder?  I know if you try to run the game from the dmg file you download the game will crash now.

I'm online. Step one. Get rid of your old icon. Step two, go in applications and try to start it from there. Please tell me if it works.

(I already played PS at some point) I extracted the PS dmg file into the aplications folder, and put it into a seperate folder named "Planeshift". I start psclient from there, but it still crashes. I tried repairing it, downloading it again, starting it from pslaunch and psclient... None of this works.

Maybe trying to start it from the terminal works... I don't know how though.
