Hi

My name is Gijs Pronk from The Netherlands

I want to apply for the job as composer but the apply button didn't seem to work.

seems the server we use for it is currently down.
in the mean time you can try contacting botanic or talad or tuux on the irc channels

You can install some free IRC client - there are many of them available for different OSes.
For example (if you are using Firefox) you can give a try to ChatZilla: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16/
Pidgin Messenger also supports IRC: http://www.pidgin.im/
There are multiple other options: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Internet_Relay_Chat_clients
