Title: Should Falcon Avian come back to PS?
Post by: MishkaL1138 on January 17, 2011, 09:16:45 pm
This poll will be running for 2 months. We'll push Esorono to come back in game if people votes "Yes".

GO GO GO

*edit*

Remember you can pick two options, guys.

i removed the poll, as they are supposed to be used for more official/useful fact finding for the devs' eyes types of threads.

feel free to continue to keep a manual tally if you like, however.

What Falcon Avian should do? I think the ultimate decision it's up to him. He knows how to PL as well as RP. Personally I'm starting to get sick of all these "I'm out-I'm in" posts, they don't change a thing.

It's totally Eso's call to play or not to play.

Sometimes a break can be a positive thing. That can be said, on a personal level, from mine.

Wishing Eso all the best no matter his decision.

I think you misunderstood my reasoning for saying no, and that's why you don't agree with it.

I said no because I don't think he should come back.

For completely other reasons the changes have recently been made very frustrating to me, as well, for the opposite reasons. My game play is much less active these days while setting up a development server and learning my way around Blender. Today I decided to take my character out for a little level building. The thought was to clear the head and have some emjoyable mindless game hacking.

After sparring up with some mobs around Hydlaa I ran all the way to the BD in preparation of advancing MA. By the time my character arrived there she was ready to level. To my great surprise Poly did not want to teach me any further! The mindless game level up quickly turned into a frustrating waste of time. This sucks in my opinion.

After taking the time to find out my needed teachers is it now expected that that work is done all over again? The result was that my character was logged off and not sure when she shall venture out again for further training. Maybe when someone on the guild forum puts up a cheat list. It would save everyone a great deal of time to simply post about such monumental changes which amount to time wasters in my opinion. They get eventually posted anyway to respective guild forums so why frustrate players with such undocumented changes?

That change wasn't undocumented. There was a forum post from Talad himself explaining all changes made regarding leveling and trainers. It's even on the Planeshift homepage. of course, not all information regarding who trains what is given to avoid spoilers, but It seems to me that the people who usually train a specific skill still train that skill, just at different levels. if you want mindless mindnumbing gameplay, go around to every NPC in the game and document yourself what they train.

My feeling is that Talad's comments would be in the category of announcements not documentation.

That is more like questing; another aspect of the game that is just an annoyance to me at least. Guess its a matter of waiting for the spoilers to come out. Just seems documenting the changes would have saved unneeded frustration to some players. Not as if they won't be posted elsewhere in due time... just like maps, quests cheats, you name it. Guess we can all stick our heads in the the sand in the meantime; or in other appropriate orifices.

Nova, instead of complaining, just search a little bit, becuase this was going to happen one way or another.
It was pre-planned, a long time ago for stats/skills to be 400/200
Its better that it happens now, then later, as you can get used to it sooner.

No problem that it happened; just that the changes were undocumented. My complaining will cease; as will any attempt at levelling until others, with more time to waste than me, have the kindness to share the results of their unnecessary efforts.

Meanwhile it's back to my Blender stick man (http://trollkeep.com/images/person.jpg) who is presently house (http://trollkeep.com/images/house2.jpg) hunting.  ;D

The policies on sharing information in this game cause information to become a commodity that is abused by the players.

are you asking us to make a walktrough for all the new quests and quest chains before releasing them?

are you asking us to make a walktrough for all the new quests and quest chains before releasing them?

No; just trying to make the point that saying what used to be trained by Poly is now trained by X would not be any worse than all the detailed cheats that will eventually be doing that anyway. If there were more Dev Team members then perhaps something like the NPC telling you that info might be more consistent with the RP theme; yet it is understandable that at the moment that may be asking a lot of their time. It was also an attempt to make the point that all the secrecy mumbo jumbo is only fooling the n00b player to stumble around blindly. All other players have maps, quest cheats, etc., etc., etc. and to allude otherwise is sticking ones head in an orifice.

The change had no RP logic; in fact it defies RP logic. It was an arbitrary change that could have supported some documentation either IC or OOC in my estimation. It may have been a needed change that was overdue; however not everyone has the time to waste to catch up with that change for no RP or OOC logical reason to do so.

Why could there not be a government listing of qualified teachers? One would still have to rove over the entire map to find them; however in an instance like this, once you had found them you would at least know where to go instead of trying every bloody teacher on the map that now might (for no RP logical reason) now be teaching what, game days previously, someone else had been teaching.

There appears no logical reason that this arbitrary alteration needs be kept secret. Besides it will only be a matter of time that it will no longer be secret to many players; if not already. Many guilds are probably already telling one another what the changes are and not wasting needless time finding the changes player by player. As someone already mentioned on this thread such knowledge is becoming a game commodity; in this case not even supported by the RP Holy Grail.

This appears a flagrant disrespect for players' time in my estimation. Maybe not such a big deal for other players that don't have mortgages, children, careers, course assignments... you know, another life besides PS. Perhaps those are the players desired. If so please forgive my frustration as the point has been made.

The policy on information in this game drives away players. They do not want to have to join a guild or kiss some avatar's ass just to find out where to train mining. It is a short sighted policy that hurts PlaneShift as it causes the players to separate into those who know and those who don't. Those who don't most often leave the game, because it is going to take them way damn too long to get a basic understanding of where to train what. It is not friendly, it does not help.

This post wasn't made to discuss what you're discussing  :offtopic:. So either stay in topic or get out.

Also, WTF? Eso is back in game. Less active, but back. Neko, beam lock me this up.

We are discussing the reason Eso left the game from another angle. If it is locked then my question is answered in a subtle manner anyway. That is that PS is looking for players that have no other life but PS. That's cool. Been there done that.

Lock away!

What I'm saying is that there's no need of disussing this any further imo. Isn't he back in game? Then that's it, this thread worked. Please stop it.

Wibbles, Eso.

It's not generally in my policy to agree with anyone, but yeah.  You're de-railing a (completed) thread just to argue your opinions, Cat Neko person, throw that lock at the door and run!
