Title: Can't start playin, I get a message saying:

An update is available but you don't have the correct permissions to continue!

What do I do?

Did you run PSLauncher as Admin?

Especially if you run Vista or Win7, simply right click on the launcher file and select run as Admin.

I'm on a Mac. Run as admin doesn't seem to be in the right click options...

What can I do?

What Weltall means is open the DGM file you downloaded. Take the planeshift folder in the DMG file and move that folder to your applications folder. Now run the game from inside the application folder. The DMG file is a disk image ( ie your system treats it like a separate hard drive) that is read only. Since you can't write to the DMG file you can't update.

I have seen software distributed in DMG files which automatically start an installer when opened (e.g. VirtualBox).

So I hope any developer is able to do the same for PlaneShift to support the poor people who are using Macs without knowing how.

that's not suggested in macosx env except if you need to do modifications among system files, which vbox needs to do.
