According to the Pterosaur Flight map, it appears that we have been wrong believing that the little creek coming from the Leaky Rock source is the river Irifon; it rather looks like it is somewhere near the Koberas pass between Hydlaa/Gugrontid and the Eagle Bronze Doors fortress, maybe even bridged by it.

That makes me wonder ... will we see it some day "soon"? Or will it stay a myth for a few more years?

I'm guessing it is the big blue channel you come to if you climb the cliff by the arena tunnel and turn left at the top. You could also get to it by exiting Hydlaa by the closed gate, if it weren't closed and walking down the road.
Anyways, where does the water go that pounds down the Eagle, to the next level below?
-
I think the cartographer had a drink with Harnquist: there is no river Irifen between Gugrontid and the Bronze Doors, but on oja 2 road map, as (almost) everyone knows
-
Yes, I remember the river just into Oja 2 being the Irifon. I think this came up in a discussion about Sarpendil a while back.
-
That map is not correct. Irifon is what you cross on the way to Ojaveda.
-
Well, maybe the "Leaky Rock" is the source, we just have the beginning at Korogan, and the stream goes "west" below Koberas? So they are parts of the same?
-
isn't there a planned underground river below Amdenier? is that too the Irifon?
-
doubt amdeneir is quite on the left of the map. actually on the map above it's off map
-
ok, on the map, the Irifon is labeled as the river running west to east between Hydlaa and the BD, just north of Gugrontid. It flows into a big empty spot on the map (which is where I thought Amdenier was supposed to be, but I guess I was wrong). The Leaky Rock Creek which we all call the Irifon runs north and south between Hydlaa and Oja. It looks completely plausible that the river can change its course of direction somewhere in that big empty space on the map and runs BOTH between Hydlaa and BD AND Hydlaa and Oja.
You are all smart enough to know that a river doesn't always run perfectly straight in the same direction. Heck, here in New Orleans, we have to drive SOUTH across the Mississippi to reach the WEST Bank.
-
I'm surprised no one noticed the more blaring contradiction.
Looking at the map, the Azure Sun is shown as being east from Hydlaa. In other words, the level down is on the opposite side of Hydlaa to the Winch, which is the principal way of getting down to the next level.

So who of you is working in the Settings department?
-
I think there are a lot of things about the known map that needs clarification by the settings dept. For instance, we have Koberas Pass and Korogan's Pass...which is which? My understanding is Korogan's Pass should be on OjaRoad. I heard the story long ago of an Enkidukai named Korogan who fought off an army and died on that spot trying to escape to Hydlaa...or something to that effect, I forget the details. That would put Koberas Pass on BDRoad. But in zoneinfo.xml they listed as "korogan" and "ojakorogan". ???

That may be related to the times of versions before 0.4, when Ojaveda was roughly at the Lake of Tears, and the hills beside the road were many times steeper, like a maze.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The maps may have changed but many of the references stayed the same. Probably the same for the river. But there's no reason the river can't run in both places. But unless it's underground to the north, we currently can't see it in that area.
It'll all get sorted eventually, but as new areas are added, it will be more difficult to do so.

It is just most important that the artists get all possibly required details about the adjacent Settings material before they start creating assets. A correctly planned asset means a lot less trouble than one which needs to be fixed after other assets rely on it already.
I remember how I misinterpreted a brief task description about the Diamond and Ruby Rings, then found a related quest, learned about my mistake, and struggled several months to get them fixed.
-
I have studied the Dome's (First Level) geography roughly, making a map, and it is possible that the Irifon river flows from Bronze Doors to Ojaveda, and ends at some waterfall at the cliff leading to the Barn (Second Level), if my assumptions are correct. According to my map (I'm not a settings dev) Amdeneir would be close to the level's edge, so would Ojaveda.
/me is sooo not a settings dev… bear with me.
-
But I thank you for your ideas, nevertheless.

If you want I can come up with a clean version of my map. Or I could take a lot of screenies and sew them together.
