Title: Client stops responding when talking to npc's

So, I just downloaded the 0.5.7 client and everything seems to be fine until I talk to an npc about quests.

Every time I ask, without fail the client stops responding. I searched the forums and it appears that other people have the same problem. What could be causing it?
I'll never get winch access at this rate :(

Same thing for me. I have an Asus 1215n with 32bit Fedora 15.

It's even worse now, stops responding randomly sometimes within minutes of loading and sometimes within seconds.
Tried using both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions and the 64 bit client is worse than the 32 bit one.

System is:

MSI CR630

CPU: AMD Athlon II Dual-Core P360
VGA: ATI Mobility Radeon HD4270
RAM: 2GB DDR3

Running windows 7 64 bit.

At the moment Planeshift is almost completely unplayable to me!
