uh... just 2 things I\'m kinda used to that aren\'t in this game and would make life lots easier =P
1) Tab: using the tab key to switch from \'move\' controls to \'chat\' controls and visa versa instead of having to click on the silly chat panel thingy or outside of it
2) Up Key: when you\'re in chat mode it\'s usually handy to have the up key repeat the last line you sent, that way if you miss /shout at the start or something you can just whack up, then type it at the start instead of having to repeat yourself :D
any chance of getting these included? =3

Something like this will be needed. Toggling between movement and chat is not fluid yet.

This is already set up in the development version. It uses the ENTER key to go back and forth.

This is on my todo and should be done at some point.

ah! thankies!
thanks for the quick response too :)

Could another key besides Enter be used possibly? Most people are used to using Enter exclusively for submitting a command or text. You run into the problem of trying to hit Enter the right amount of times when you\'re in the heat of battle. Not an easy thing to do when you get that rush.
Thanks!

Thanks!
I will try to make it so you can specify the key that you want to use.

Excellent! Thank you much!
-
I think the default key should be set to tab either way, but that\'s just me =3
Just seems more natural for some reason *blink*
anyways, thanks for listening ^^
-
The reason it seems so natural is because that key has been used for that function in other games. That raises the question, \"Do we try different key configurations or do we use what we know works?\"
Either way, make it functional. The most used keys are grouped together. In FPS games, key assignment is critical. Granted, a MMORPG is no where as near as fast paced, but key assignments are still critical. You dont want to pop open your inventory when you meant to execute an attack.
Thats my 2875 cents.

for the repeating of text:
i would like it if you can set up some text to shortcuts. for example:
you write \"/save letter text\" to save \"text\" under \"letter\" and if you press ALT+letter the text is repeated as chat command. this would help alot for the usual fight talk - you only need to use the shortcut for your \"Help! Big monster is hunting me!\"
-
So basically you want ghetto macros. Whats to prevent this from being a scripting game then?
-
um... I was just running about testing it and neither the enter or return key switched modes for me... it could be down to the weird bug that makes it double type stuff from the keypad but either way it\'s kinda annoying :P
-
It is not in the current version that is released. When I say \'development version\' I mean the version we are working on for the next release.

oop! sorry ^^;

tab auto-completion!!!!!
no really!!! ...acraig knows what i\'m talking about (so do other linux users) ...there was already a topic concerning auto-completion and history in the chat box ...acraig AFAIR said that he\'d implement both (don\'t forget the might magical tab!!!!)
-
Another great thing to add to the game. By the time we are done here, the input controls will be perfect! :P
-
with chat command i refer to commands for speaking only. with that you can probably script some talks, but for what use?
-
Well mostly people use script talks for triggering commands from a 3rd party, (ie a portal summoner) or spamming sales to a channel.
Im worried if talking scripts are implemented, someone will find a workaround that allows them to use commands also.
Just a thought
-
Spamming trade channels is independent from the way you allow repeating.
for the other two im unsure.
