I'm interested in getting some Black Flame RP and collaborative story writing going.
Anyone interested?
I'm interested in perhaps keeping the character killing and torture etc... OUT of the game, and simply writing about it collaboratively in a forum thread. This is mainly because most people don't enjoy playing victims - or dying for that matter. It also shifts the experience a little bit away from gaming and more towards story writing - which in my opinion is at the heart of good role playing.
Pretty much everything else would be done in game... Planning, recruiting, conspiring, betraying, and so on..
You don't need to write Black Flame characters, but obviously, this would involve helping to write stories that involve them.
We could say that what is written about offline is equally a part of your character's background. It just needs to be written in such a way that it believably *could have happened* in game.
My goal is to produce some good quality stories that others will enjoy following. Again, the only requirement is an interest in writing.
So who's in? Who has questions?
-
I may be up for doing some writing, but would I absolutely have to be ingame?
-
No, no need to be in game. The focus is more on story writing. I would definitely be into some pure collaborative writing too.
-
You might want to contact the Black Flamers ingame in order not to interfere with what they've been doing and plotting so far, and not to introduce incoherence.
-
Ooh.. The flame is alive and well? Would love to meet any solid role players who play/write BF characters.
I don't see this as interfering though.. but point taken.
-
If there are Black Flame characters in-game, they've done their part well, and are completely hidden. I'm not sure how you'd go about finding them. The only character I know was Black Flame I never learned ICly, and I know he's either perma-dead or close enough.
-
I'd be fairly interested with this. PM me on forums.

Theoretically any character who has done the BF quests is BF. That said there is a gigantic void of anything past those quests so once you are in you are in but it means nothing unless you go around telling people. It is sort of like that hot Russian redhead who was repatriated once she was found out she was finished but she apparently didn't do much before that either.
-
How does one even tell what the BF quests are? There's no indication which is which. For all I know I've done them already.
-
I'd be interested. Ive got... sort of a BF char. Not exactly. Tough to explain without divulging to much information.
-
You haven't done enough of them or you would know. Anyway you could look at your Cabal of Whispers faction level. Likewise you can view unhidden myplane pages to tell if other characters have done it. That would be completely OOC though.
-
If you haven't done the blackflame quests, then think like a madman/criminal and try to get quests from the underbelly of society; those are the types of folks who your character will want to serve or associate with if your character is of this alignment. To write about Blackflame characters you really need as much setting material as possible - which is found in the game. If you are interested in writing about characters of other alignments who interact with BF characters, then I am open to that too. This is more about writing and story creation, and less about gaming.
As for divulging infomation, I do understand the need to keep In Character and Out Of Character information separate. Some folks may not want to write about their BF characters on the forum for fear that inexperienced players may mistakenly take what they read on the forum and try to use it in-game.
My personal stance on this situation is as follows:
From an in-character perspective, if your character accused my character of being a Blackflame follower, he would most likely riddicule your character for believing such silly, childish things. ;)
If I find that OOC communication is really needed, then I'll just ask the player in an OOC tell how their character would know this. If their answer is logical/believable, then fine - I'll just continue to deal with it in an in-character way.... that might include public humiliation or a knife in the back. If the other player is incapable of separating IC and OOC info, then fine, I'll just ignore them... though I really hate this last option.
Despite the Blackflame stories that I have written on the forum with my characters in the past, this has never happened to me. Nobody has ever tried to use this OOC info against me in-game. It could be that such inexperienced players don't bother reading whats in the in-game roleplay events section or just don't care.
Now that my post count for my re-made account is >10, I'll start PMing those who I have yet to speak to. Thanks to those who have shown interest thus far

Hey Rigwyn, nice to see you back.
I'm well up for getting involved in anything you might do in game or on the forums. Just let me know.
-
Awesome... To those who relplied via the forum or private message, I'm still working on getting re-established in the game. I'll let you know when I'm ready to start.
