I was wondering if the server was down or is it just me. I have not been able to log in the past 3 hours. I also haven't seen any other topics or information about a downtime so I was just curious.

The staff are working on a HUGE update, completely painting over hydlaa. (as well as other stuff? dunno if this is just hte paintjob)
so its probably down for them to do that.

It's been down for at least 4 hours that I've noticed... Hopefully something yummy is in the works
and not just a forgotten payment of the light bill like the update!
Just think how much pent up fun we'll all have when we can kill things again!

BTW, in case you haven't done it already, run the updater to download PS 0.5.8 and then run repair as well!

Anyone else having issues getting all the filed DLd? I can't seem to get some of the guitar sounds to download... I've tried about 15 times to get all the files, and those keep failing...

Mine's DLing fine so far, if a bit slowly. art/materials.zip is always a pain :P

Yes...parts of the guiter sounds fail to download. The problem is the "#" in the filename. You can download those manually by replacing the "#" with "%23"..for example: "wget http://194.116.72.94/update/backup/art/sounds/gui/instruments/guitar/6TH_G%232.ogg"
"http://194.116.72.94/update" is the address of the update server. "backup" the directory that contains everything for a --repair. Everything else is what pslaunch prints for the failed files.

Aiwendil's got it. All of the guitar sounds fail to download. Replacing the hash-mark will allow you to download each guitar-sound file individually, however.
Other than that, the update gets downloaded just fine.

Dont know about all that other guitare stuff, but has anyone gotten in? is it really full or just down and glitched?

Server Full is just a status that can be set for it. It just means no player is able to login but devs and GMs still are. So it's prefect for testing without annoyances.

Note to anyone who's following Aiwendil's shortcut for downloading the files manually from the server backup:
Make sure that when compiling the new gui sounds into the art folder that you place it in the art/sounds/gui/instruments/guitar folder. If you've run through the updater already and failed those files, PS will place a .download file in place of the actual file, so that the file will fail the integrity check when requesting an update. Be sure and remove all of the .download files before replacing them with the correct %23 files.

Seems to me that --repairing might be a bit premature. If they find a major bug before they open the server they will likely roll back to .5.7.1, probably why there is no official announcement yet.
Ps: don't forget this will be the update where you want to reset all your password hashes if you haven't had them done manually already or have been using the self compiled client.

The server is down for the update to 0.5.8. It will take some more time, not sure yet how much, but don't hold your breath! Meanwhile download the torrents and download the new binaries, we need people to seed the new client!

Dumb questions, I know. I went to planeshift.it/download.html and tried to download windows but getting the url error message. Where EXACTLY do I go to download the game onto my *ahem* NEW computer??

Nice timing, I got a new laptop...not updating the desktop yet, but I've got the torrent going on this machine. The direct download didn't work when I was on there.
Hopefully I'll see you all in-game!

The HTTP mirrors are not yet up to date (but the german community will hurry). Either use BitTorrent, or try to update (possibly by removing updateservers.xml and maybe even updaterinfo.xml in the program path)...
Come to our IRC channel and we will guide you.

The "PS German Community" HTTP mirrors are avaialble, and a BitTorrent client on it helps seeding.
