Title: Planeshift and Sourceforge Terms
Post by: Sajut on April 24, 2012, 10:22:13 pm
Maybe i read it wrong, but there might be a problem with the license of the files in this directory http://planeshift.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/planeshift/art/ specified in this README-File http://planeshift.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/planeshift/art/README?revision=12&view=markup .
Nr. 6 of the Geeknet Terms http://geek.net/terms-of-use says
Quote
When you submit, post, upload or otherwise provide Code to SourceForge.net, you must designate promptly the software license pursuant to which licensees (including Geeknet) obtain rights with respect to such Code. Except as otherwise expressly permitted by these Terms, any Code
submitted to SourceForge.net must be licensed to Geeknet and other licensees under a license that is: compliant with the Open Source Initiative ("OSI")'s Open Source Definition (http://www.opensource.org/docs/osd) or certified as an "OSI-Approved License" (http://opensource.org/licenses).

Sorry if i'm wrong with my assumption then you can ignore this thread. ;)

the term of use you quoted speak about Code not art in any way, and planeshift code is GPL

Discussed already 1 million times. It's as eonwind says + the fact SF allows some proprietary files if those are needed to show better how your OS solution works. Spend time to improve PS instead of caring about licenses, we did that already.

Thanks for explaining and sorry for stealing your time. (If you want you can delete this thread.)

Currently i can't spend my time to improve PS directly, too much RL (:P) and beside this i'm working on another project which might help PS. ;)
