I really hope I'm not missing something obvious. I'm attempting to log in on the main Laanx server (planeshift.subhosting.net) which is showing up in the login screen, ping and everything. I'm using the same email and password I use for the forums and myplane, and it seems to work fine for both of those. I've made sure to update the servers.xml, but still no cookie...

When did you create your account? If it was long ago - did you have a long break, were not playing for a while?

Yes, it's been a while since I've last played. If I were to delete and remake my forum account, would that help? It's been long enough I honestly don't remember if they were two separate accounts or not.

have you tried reseting your password.. was a password system change a while ago.. meaning you would have to make a new password.

I would do that on the forum, right? I tried changing my forum password just now and it doesn't seem to make a difference. If all else fails I suppose I could just make a new account. ???
EDIT: Ahh, played with the password a bit and looked at MyPlane, and it appears the forum and server accounts are NOT the same thing. I weep at my incompetence.
Reset the password on the main site, and it now seems to be working fine.

Indeed, the Hydlaaplaza forum account is independent from your game accounts. This forum here is not MyPlane.

I'm trying to give PS a try again after a year in the wilderness. However when i try and log in it says my email/password is incorrect. Now i know they're correct but reading the above post it seems there may be a problem with the new server?
Problem is, i no longer have access to the ancient email address i registered my account with some 6-7 years ago so how would i go about resetting my password?

As suggested several times before: Try to log in with version 0.5.8. Give it a few minutes, then try again with 0.5.9.

I had the same problem (can't log in with old e-mailaccount). When I install 0.5.8 x64 on Win 7 (as suggested above) I can't log in as the client don't find the servers, "Zeroping Host (RP) = Failed" and "Ezpcusa (Non-RP) = Failed". When I try 0.5.9 x64 it say "Laanx server (Main)", but I can't log in.
So I tried to:
1. Install 0.5.8 x64
2. Open C:\Program Files (x86)\PlaneShift\data\servers.xml and changed 62.173.168.9 in two places to planeshift.subhosting.net
3. Started 0.5.8 x64, now "Zeroping Host (RP)" is responding, and I can log in = \\o//
4. I join with one of my characters and play for a minuter or two, then I quit the game
5. I start the game again "as administrator" and choose Yes when it asks if I want to update now, wait for it to update...
6. After a while I get 0.5.9 and it starts up, but I can't log in :(
7. I quit 0.5.9 and install 0.5.8 x64 on top of the one I just tried, after that I changed servers.xml as above.
8. I start 0.5.8 x64 (without updating) and log in, it works again.
9. I ask for help, and a GM tells me to:
a) Log out with 0.5.8 x64
b) Start Planeshit, DELETE THE PASSWORD and then manually rewrite it again to login.
c) To change my username e-mail I need to talk with Weltall, best in IRC in #planeshift-gmtalk channel or do a petition from my account.
10. I quit 0.5.8 x64, start 0.5.8 x64 again (without updating), delete my password, manually enter it again and join.
11. I quit 0.5.8 x64, I start the game again "as administrator" and choose Yes when it asks if I want to update now, wait for it to update...
12. I start 0.5.9, delete my password, manually enter it again and now I get in \\o//
Maybe this can help someone. Next I will try to change my login username e-mail...

I am also returning after a lenghty hiatus. I tried this method,DLed the .58 and still got the"incorrect password or username" message. Updated again to .59 and same thing...
Is it really necessary to go through all this just to recover an inactive account?
Seems like there should be a much simpler method,like providing UN and PW to an admin in private massage and getting updated.Since my info didn't work in .58 either,this seems like my only recourse.
Also,I no longer have the email account from when I created the game account,so resending password wont help.I need to change to a current email account.
I haz a sad. :(
Edit - And yes I changed the lines in servers.xml to planeshift.subhosting.net when i tried the .58 version of the client.

Hi,
I've just fixed myplane, so it updates the old logins (with the sha256 password).
Login to myplane once, and then your login in game will work.
