From what I can tell from character creation, there is going to be some element of buffing in the game. How much buffing would you like to see? Buffing to the point of AC (20+ spells if you want to be somewhat effective)? To the point of SB (5 or 6 will do nicely)?
What buffs would you like to see?
Id like some that would be like buffs and debuffs at the same time.
Like this:
Bloodlust - Increase Strength and attack rating, decrease intelligence and defense rating.
How about you guys?
-
i wouldn t like to need 25 buffs to be effective in combat .
I think some buffs should be added (of course) but it should only increase some of your skills:
it cannot decrease mental or whatever (in your exemple) cause it could be considered as personnal attack and the receiver couldn t refuse (cause it s a buff).
Because in your case, if we take the opposite spell, let s say, \"increase intelligence for 20 mins and decrease attack at the same time\" and if a player see another player he doesn t like fighting a mob, he will cast this \"buff\" on him so that he has more difficulties to beat the mob...
A dev s opinion would be welcome.

There will be all kinds of buffs?or buff lines.
As far as what is needed to be effective, you will not need even half of them at any given time, being that they will all have specific needs.
Bonus to Ice defense is not needed when fighting fire creatures or wind creatures or animals, but when fighting ice creatures could be invaluable.
I know this does not help much, but there are several schools of thought in the dev team as to who gets what when.
Personally, I think we will see many general mid length buffs (lasting 20 minutes or so) but most of the really nice buffs will last only a minute or two.
Will buffs be needed to go against certain mobs?I can not answer that at this point. But I would not mind seeing some further thoughts on what kinds of buffs you would like to see.
By the same token many players may feel that they can use that really heavy sword or armor as long as they can buff themselves, so for them, yes it will be necessary to be buffed to fight.
In the end it really will come down to how you build and grow your character. If he is generalized he will not need buffs as much, if he is really focused he will but he will probably be really good at whatever you made him for.
In this case I fear some people may make their characters such one trick ponies that at some point they may become ineffective at all. But we will see as we go and if controls need to be put in place, we will.

Just one question for the moment Yann,
How is your example not considered an attack? Even in your example it is. Am I missing something in the example?

You understood well, it IS an attack.
It was to show you that we couldn t create buffs which would decrease some stats... Or that s considered as PK.
Then buffs must only increase some stats (as to me).
-
Self buffs and buffs that must be accepted are how you would do the exchange one stat for another.
-
well id like tsee buffs in the game like dam sheilds and mana regen buffs!! or maybe even regen spells. oh and most of all id like to see magic resistance buffs....
-
But there will be only positive effects buffs if i understand correctly ? So no indirect damage amplifiers for pvp and no mob training ? That would be nice.
-
Another thing to bring up is the possibility of group buffs. I have seen this in other places and it works quite well.
Also, is there a possibility of getting a job or something that would allow a bonus to buffing spells, but a negative to damage spells? This would work out really nice for support characters.

Stupid question?
Where is it said that we won?t have X type of spell or buff?
I am just wondering
Other then that keep adding what you would like to see, while I have not seen anything that we have not discussed, I am sure there are many things that we have not.
