Title: NPC's are refusing to respond
Post by: Torack on December 17, 2012, 09:17:28 am
My problem is that NPC's can't get highlighted, or selected if you prefer. I've tried clicking next to them, over them, basically all over. I even went and changed the graphic settings and nothing seems to be working. And I think it would be wise to mention here I'm a linux user and I downloaded the game from Desura.

Have you tried targetting items, such as the furnace? Maybe there is something wrong with your mouse configuration.
Until the problem is solved, you can work around it with the /target command. For example
/target Abelia should select Abelia, /target nextnpc (not sure) will target the next NPC. You can look up the exact commands in the ingame help (F1).

I had the same problem once. There was a key locking the targeting. I don't remember right now, maybe caps lock.

Sometimes it happened to me that I targeted something, and the marker appeared for only a fraction of a second, then went invisible. But the info window still displayed the title of the targeted item or NPC or character.

The command is: /target [self|clear|[prev|next] [item|npc|player|any]] (e.g.: "/target next item", "/target next npc", "/target next player", "/target clear")

It is useful to have shortcuts with keys assigned for such commands, so you can easily cycle through nearby targets.

be sure to update the client properly, there was a bug which was messing with window's position (and mouse control) and was fixed by a later update
