Title: So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish
Post by: MishkaL1138 on December 25, 2012, 02:27:41 am
"Here's that weirdo ranting and blabbering with his seasonal 'I'm leaving' post, yet he never leaves."

Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I am, indeed, leaving, or at least drastically reducing the times I'm going to log in game. I know, I know I've done this a whole lot of times, but this time I'm very afraid it's for real. I'd like to go, though, in good terms with everyone, because I know the greatness of a man is not measured on how many enemies has he defeated, but on how many has he forgiven and apologised to. But first, my reasons to leave.

It is well known by many of you that I'm not the best person ever. It's not an excuse, since everyone is how they are, but I'd like to explain my behavior first: I've always been slightly reclusive, and the last 2 years I've been battling a depression that consumed me to the point of being unable to do anything at all, leaving me in a rather crappy state, snarky and moody. I'd like to apologize for all the inconveniences I've caused in the past, and hope that you will forgive me, if you think you can. As for my reasons, they're not related to PlaneShift at all, but rather personal.

There have been a series of events in my life that have led to its improvement, luckily. I've found my life vocation, my reason to go on and live and work for me and those who surround me. Due to this, I'll be leaving the paternal household to live 80km away from them, at my current school, and will only visit my parents and brothers on weekends. That, and going out with my old friends will consume most of the time I'll have on weekends. Besides that, I've decided I'd change my habits, especially since my grades haven't been stellar lately: failing two subjects, even if it may seem acceptable to some, is a rather stingy matter to me. I'm decided to change that next trimester, and will dedicate myself in body and soul to improve that and try not to get less than a 60/100 in any subject.

The most important reason to me, though, is my family's state. My brother is currently at the hospital, getting dyalisis regularly. It's a rather touchy matter, since he's going to need a kidney eventually, and meanwhile he's going to need a dyalisis machine at home. I don't know which member of my family will donate it, if there isn't an anonymous donor first, so it will most likely be my mother, who will also be undergoing surgery soon - to repair her knee, practically destroyed due to age and use, using a prothestic knee; my brother, and myself.

I don't know how my life will turn out to be, but I'm certain of one thing: it will turn for the better. I'm studying something I think is great, and my teachers are professionals. Maybe not all my classmates like me, but you can't be in good terms with everyone. That's something I've learned from playing PlaneShift. Which leads me to the next point. Please, don't see this as a way of criticising, but as an apology and a viewpoint.

First off, I'd like to thank many, many of the players that have helped and played with me: LigH, Boni, Neeno (keep up the good work, you two!), Jjairr, Haraun, Minks - what the hell, the whole Felines Lair lot and the full PSDE community; Barike, Sacho, Mariana, Zalya, Elady, Almada, everyone from The Way of the Hammer, the Brotherhood of Talad (hugs and glitterto Lilura!), the Bloodstone Brethren, Teshia, Esorono (<3), and whoever had a good impression of me.

I also would like to thank the GM team for stopping me when I crossed the line (even if I still think they were unfair sometimes, truth be said), the Settings team for welcoming me and giving me a chance of improving the game, and especially Weltall, even if he hates the fact that I use a Mac, and RlyDontKnow. Many many many thanks to Mordaan, Venalan, drJack and Katu, for being great writers and even better bosses ( xP ).

To Talad, a sincere thank you for creating this game and keeping it up, and an idea for the future, also paired with a small critic: focus the game towards the RPers. It's taken a turn for the PLers. Reduce the stats and skills, try to balance how easily can you make money, especially for newbies, and try to overhaul the whole crafting system. I'm sure the Rules team will have interesting ideas for that. I hope you can take this kindly, as I mean it to be, and try to implement it in game.

Lastly, my biggest "thank you" goes to Zazhia. Here:

THANK YOU

You were one of the last friends I made on this game, and certainly one of the most important. You're a great roleplayer and a better person, and I'm sorry for all the times I've upset you. You helped me when I most needed it, and I'm very, very thankful for that. I'm very glad we'll keep chatting (I hope regularly), and I wish you the best of luck with your life, expecting it to be as happy as it is now, and that your boyfriend loves you as much as I regard you as a dear friend.

Now, done as I am with thanksgiving (*snicker*), I'll proceed with all my characters settings, explaining what they'll do from now on:

Greetings, Mishka!

It seems like you are heading into the right direction, and I might be in a better situation to say so than most, for many years ago I was in a similar situation, and reacted to it in a similar way.

I came out stronger, and maybe even a bit wiser. Yes, yes!  ;D

So I hope for you, too, things will improve.

Take care, Mishka. And do come back from time to time, at least with your main character. Gonger did not always agree with you (speaking in defense of that murderer Ikon was... strange to hear!), but in a time where some people are turning PlaneShift into a PowerLevel-WewantaGuildandnothingelse-kindergarten, good RPers like you are needed more than ever.

Good luck for you. Travel safely.

Gonger

Hey!

I'll contact you later privately, but thank you for this post. I mean, really. This makes things make way more sense to me now, and it does, to me, seem like the right decision to quit when I read this. Very mature and thought through, and I am very happy about that.

\\o//

And: Thank for the RP and for the friendship - and no, I am not going to stop talking to you, and I don't hate you and blabla so on ;-) But you know that already.

And remember to contact me, especially if you need to talk to someone about the whole family situation of yours.

*great hugs*

Mishka your post is very touchy, I wish you all the best for you, your brother, your mother and all the family. You said the greatness of a man can be measured by his ability to forgive, and it's true; I also think it can be measured on his ability to face problems and struggles and eventually change for good. From what it's worth my opinion you're heading in the right direction and I wish you all the best.
Should you ever decide to come back you'll be welcomed! Take care.

Mish!

I hope that this time you will really manage to leave for good. Now don't get this wrong - I loved all your characters and RPing with you, and I think you added great value to the game. But I believe that playing as much as you did at some points can't be good for real life, and I fear that it would be hard for you to just play a bit. (I know how much I got drawn into it and HAD TO DO SO MANY THINGS!)

I know I wasn't very nice to you in the end. I am not entirely sure why I acted like I did; I'll try to describe my situation anyway. First off, I felt pissed off by the game (or maybe my inability to play emotionally intense roles without messing up my OOC emotions), so I guess I projected. Furthermore, I felt used by you, like I was someone you could always come to when in need, but can be discarded if not required. I know it's not your fault I felt that way, and that you weren't trying to do that. I cannot say I was in a positive emotional situation back then.

About the life vocation point, I'm feeling like this myself. My situation changed a lot, too, and maybe I'm a less cynical / evil person now... I do hope so, but at the very least I am much less sad / pessimistic and learned to enjoy life and to look to the future. I've just unblocked you on Skype, so if you want to talk and see me online, feel free to say hi. You don't have to do that though, I'd totally understand if you hate me now, lol. Maybe I'm generally a hate-able person. But enough about me.

I wish you and your family all the best. I am really happy to see you this positive. I'm glad to see you part with the game at peace, and not in unfortunate, emotional, and maybe facepalm-worthy circumstances like I did. I hope the positivity will remain, and your life will be as great as can possibly be.

Nuhhh... some chars Jilata doesn't like or even hates are now gone. There are too few of that.

Oh well. I wish you good luck and I think most of what I want has been said already, so I keep my post short.

Take care

I wonder why you bought a guildhouse few days before with a 10M loan from our guild???

There have been guilds, that really WANTED this house.

"Oh look I lost 10 millions!"

Relax. They're not lost. Before assumpting, why don't you contrast information? Instead of trying to make me look bad in public, which is a rather low move, why didn't you send me a PM first asking for details? Also, how was I supposed to know what was going to happen when I bought that guildhouse? I'm not a future teller.

Apparently not yours, Rinha, since you didn't bid for it. And I've been told that too. Again, I'm no fortune teller, and if you have a problem with it, go tell a GM, instead of causing drama in the forums.

Dem drama llamas be cray cray

Do you remember? I didn´t bid for the house, at the request of you. You told me, your guild needs the house for roleplay issues.

I have no intention to let you look bad in public. In my opinion it was your business to tell me about your leaving. You took our loan and a few days later i read here in forums that you have gone. You could have made a notice to me at least. Do you really wonder if i feel deceived?

Well, you said you wouldn't bi, and not because I was bidding: you weren't interested. Do you want the house? Pay 61 millions and it's yours.

EDIT: Too late, I don't have the house anymore, but I'll meet you in game to give you the money back. You can try your luck at it on next auction.

Rinha, I can understand your frustration, but Mishka made it quite clear that RL is more important to her right now. Which is as it should be.
There will be other guild houses, other auctions. Your time will come.

Peace, Gonger

Gonger, it´s not about the guildhouse. It was only about the loan. I had no message about it and read here, that Jocas left the game. But the issue is solved now. We have our money back.

Of course RL is much more important. Good luck, Mishka. Hope to meet you back in game soon.

Don't happen to have a water glyph for sale before you go do you, I can meet if you do as even after a few days you still seem to be around. The phrase I heard it all before springs to mind but hey, good luck :)

No, I don't, and if I had something like that, I would've given it to the player who inherited all my "wealth".

Best of luck with things, Mish. Can't say Venorel will miss you; as she never forgave Mishka for the funeral hoax. :) However her player will find PS just that little more empty should new hardware ever allow my own return.
