Hello all.
I just downloaded the game, and for some reason the sound isn't working. I played the game earlier, and just messed around in the game some. However, the game doesn't load sounds for me, and is completly quiet. I looked up the sound issue, and I came across this Fix: http://www.planeshift.it/known_bugs.html
How ever, that fix did not work for me, as my file already looks like this: ; Sound enabled
System.Plugins.iSndSysRenderer = crystalspace.sndsys.renderer.openal
System.Plugins.iSoundManager = crystalspace.planeshift.sound.soundmngr
; Sound disabled
;System.PlugIns.iSndSysRenderer = crystalspace.sndsys.renderer.null
;System.Plugins.iSoundManager = crystalspace.planeshift.sound.dummy
Reading the Fix, if I remove the ";" before the word, it should enable it, right? So, removing the ";" from this:
; Windows (DirectSound)
;SndSys.Driver = crystalspace.sndsys.software.driver.directsound
Would that fix the sound?
Thank you for the help, and sorry for any possible confusion I may have caused.
Edit: There is one problem though... I am unable to Edit the file. I am able to view it with file viewer, just not edit it.

You will have to run the editor "as Administrator" to be able to edit this file if you installed the game in your UAC protected "Program Files" directory.
But in general, OpenAL sound should be preferred if it works. The PS installer just needs to be able to execute the included OpenAL installer and install its drivers. You could try running the installer "as Administrator" again (and then "Repair" the game by the launcher; if that locks up the launcher, just close it and run it again).

Ah, that will help then. I will have to try it when I get home, thank you.

((Sorry for double post.))
I tried to open it as Admin, but that still wont let me edit it, only view it. Hmmm...
Edit: I am unable to Access openAL Sounds from the sounds option setting... Hmmm, I wonder why.

I wonder if you do how you should. Do you have Windows 7 at all? If yes: Right-click the icon of your favourite text editor, then select "Run as Administrator" (with the shield icon to its left) in the popup menu; then load the file (File - Open). But you should not need to edit it, really...
Instead, try to execute the "oainst.exe" in your installation directory again.
OpenAL should already be the default Sound Renderer for PlaneShift. But to check it: Run the PlaneShift launcher, click the "Settings" button (below the magic reptile head), then click the "Audio" tab. "Enable Sound" should be checked, "Sound Renderer" should have "OpenAL" selected.

I was able to edit the file, but that didn't help any.
I don't see a "oainst.exe" file the in the Planshift Folder.
I do have a "OpenAL32.dll" File, but I don't think that will help.

I don't see a "oainst.exe" file the in the Planshift Folder.
I just installed a copy with the new v0.5.9.11 installer, and it contained the oalinst.exe; the OpenAL libraries should have been installed (more or less silently) during the PlaneShift installation, right after updating the Visual C++ runtime libraries.
I don't know of any soundcard yet which does not work with the OpenAL libraries, because they are probably just a wrapper to a more hardware specific API. So if it doesn't work for you, I can only imagine that the reason is hidden in withheld details about your hardware... It works for me even via HDMI audio output through my graphic card if the HDMI output is selected as system default for Windows.

That fixed it, thanks!
What I had done wrong, was I Downloaded it from a Mirror (Who knew the mirror would be out dated?), and not the torrent posted on the website, as I don't always like torrents haha.
I had to uninstall the entire game, Which said it was being used in another program, even though it wasn't, and re install using the torrent.
