Title: New PlaneShift Server!
Post by: Talad on June 07, 2013, 12:48:27 pm
The PlaneShift team is glad to announce we just completed the migration to the new Official PlaneShift server, sponsored and hosted by teamix (https://www.teamix.de/) GmbH.

teamix is a company specialized in IT infrastructure and setup, go to check their services! We are glad to find a new partner which likes games and open source. Thanks teamix!!

To use the new server, you just need to update your client through the updater.

For the ones of you who are more technical or have issues in updating, you can edit your data/servers.xml file and change the server address to: planeshift.teamix.org

new server address - http://planeshift.teamix.org/
new MyPlane address - http://planeshift.teamix.org/myplane

A Win64 update worked without any flaws.

We all have to celebrate one of the teamix members with a lovely character among us during the next Dev Q&A.

My PS Box is a Windows7 that is offering no alternate login as Administrator. This could be due to me being more used to Linux on my other machines.

When the alternate editing of server.xml was attempted it could not even verify the path so it looks like restricted due to access.

Question is how do you set up Administrator once OS is installed?

Thanks for any help for the Windoze Noob. :)

Check whether a right click on your PS launcher app offers a menu entry saying "Run as administrator" that should do the trick.

Found it. The virus software was asking permission, buried below all the other windows.  ::|

[Edit: Thanks Daevaorn. The right click worked nicely. ]

Thanks

new server address - http://planeshift.teamix.org/
new MyPlane address - http://planeshift.teamix.org/myplane

It should be fine.

My bad, the move of MyPlane seems to have caused an error when loggin in (The requested URL /myplane/login/ was not found on this server.) my guess it the MyPlane app is still pointing to the old server address somewhere. Talad would need to check it.

Hello all
somebody can upgrade this page to ?

http://planeshift.subhosting.net/index.php?page=char_stats

subhosting server is down, soon the whole planeshift.subhosting site will go offline, new char_stats page is: http://planeshift.teamix.org/index.php?page=char_stats (http://planeshift.teamix.org/index.php?page=char_stats)

If there was a subdomain (e.g. laanx.planeshift.it) registered and being resolved to the actual address each time we switch a server, we didn't have to manually change our URLs each time the server changes. Same for other useful subdomains (e.g. myplane.planeshift.it).

Back in the saddle again with an Admin running of the update. It gave me such a Gates-ey fuzzy moment.  \\o//

Edit: also, I've updated my status script (the one that nobody uses but is good for stalking PS players) to use the new server. Have fun.

All URLs and references should be fixed now. Let us know if you still find any pointing to the old server. Has been a lot of work! But we like it :)

Blast it - please help - I tried modifying my servers.xml file (found in me/Applications/Planeshift/data/servers.xml) but it did not work - here are the contents of that servers.xml file - please explicitly tell me what to do, anyone who has time to reply:

<serverlist>
<server name="Laanx server (Main)" description="Laanx server is our main server. All players are encouraged to engage in roleplay and stay In Character. If you are not much into roleplay, please be careful before speaking OOC with others.
Read our roleplay guide on PlaneShift main site!
Register at http://planeshift.subhosting.net/register" ip="planeshift.subhosting.net" port="7777" />
</serverlist>

That is the full file - help darlings  :'(

Edit:  Does it matter to know my specs?  Mac OSX 10.8.4 is the operating system, everything else is fancy and up to date and I could easily play with all my cards and whatever (so LigH please don't tell me to get a new laptop or update my video card(s) or do some other high falutin thing  :whistling: )  Thanks in advance in case anyone can help me...

hi Pierre, the following is a working server.xml file. just copy and paste you won't need anything else ;)

<serverlist>
<server name="Laanx server (Main)" description="Laanx server is our main server. All players are encouraged to engage in roleplay and stay In Character. If you are not much into roleplay, please be careful before speaking OOC with others.
Read our roleplay guide on PlaneShift main site!
Register at http://planeshift.subhosting.net/register" ip="planeshift.teamix.org" port="7777" />
</serverlist>

After a normal update (running pslaunch, you should be notified and would agree), data/servers.xml should look like this:

Code: [Select]
<serverlist>
<server name="Laanx server (Main)" description="Laanx server is our main server. All players are encouraged to engage in roleplay and stay In Character. If you are not much into roleplay, please be careful before speaking OOC with others.
Read our roleplay guide on PlaneShift main site!
Register at http://planeshift.teamix.org/register" ip="planeshift.teamix.org" port="7777" />
</serverlist>

If not, you could try to press the "Repair" button; but I am not certain if that will work correctly with Mac clients.

Now that Eonwind replied:

The file coming from the updater may still have the wrong registration URL in the description attribute. Talad takes his time to fix it...

running pslaunch and answering yes to gimmee the new version seems to load, but running the program then it looks like it goes to the old server, and then fails. Mac 10.4 11. Any ideas?
