Title: Cross storage on the same account
Post by: bugmenot on June 28, 2013, 09:26:45 pm
If you have an account with multiple characters and one has resources another needs at the moment your options are to drop the items log out then log in with the one that needs the resources and pick it up before someone discovers the pile of free goods. A simple way to fix this would be to have a storage that all characters on a single account have access to, like, the one that Harnquist keeps for you.

She thinks, useful, but other herselfs won't appreciate this klyro digging in other she pockets. Will she?
But let's see how textual demons of forums will say no-yes-no in lots lines of words before this feature won't be implemented anyway.

Here's a first "textual demon's" response

? Why would a character person have access to some other unknown character person's personal possessions? Can you neighbor go into your bank account, or garage, and take what they need?  ::|

? And on the other hand, why would a character person drop their valuable stuff somewhere, unless it was a pre arranged transfer to another character they know?  :@#\

On the third hand, the option exists to give said items to another character/ friend you trust in game, and ask that person to give the stuff to your alt, for some IC reason...

There exist also characters who play messengers, who will do that for you for free or a small fee.  There was a character, Sienna, who I saw alot who would do this.  Others might help as well.  Ah the RP demon surfaces immediately!!!   :woot:

On of the unusual joys of PS is the emphasis we try to put on role playing, rather than straight up 'gaming'.  It doesn't mean there aren't levelers and people who do OOC things (me included) all the time, it's just that as a community we try, whenever we can, to role play believable actions with each other.  It makes new friends for your main character and /or your alts, and give other players on line at that time a chance to do the same...  O--)

my two tria- welcome to the game, bugmenot, if you're new!  Thanks for playing!  \\o//

RPing this: Somebody could offer a  escrow (hope I googled that right) service, Client would provide a sack with the goods to exchange including a letter who should be able to receive it. Possibly in correlation with the postal service, when its not just between chars of the same account.

 This would be a great idea, at least until we get player owned homes. \\o//

An improvement could be have a mail system which means you can send to other characters both on same account and others. This would be good for getting items to others in different timezones to.

For OOC transfers:

If your computer is able to run two clients at once ( you might need to run one with minimal graphics settings and screen size )  or if you have two computers, you can just create what we call a "mule".  A simple way to do this is to roll a knight. The Knight option ( under quick character creation ) has (or had?) a decent amount of strength  / endurance. Simply log on as your character and as your mule and trade your items. If your "mule" is sitting down, then they can still trade/receive more items than they can carry.. Seat your mule next to one of the NPCs that do storage and you're all set.

Brassbender, I think your idea would be best. It'd be like wasisname, the messenger Stonehammer. Maybe said player could charge a 10% holding value on the price of the items stored or something. Could work, but said character would need to be online a lot of the time, I think. Either that, or post times.

I too have an opinion on this. My opinion is not to have an opinion, because of how much my real, actual, factual opinion disagrees with ALL the opinions expressed here.
