Trouble. Indeed. That's what happens when the monsters from the Stone Labyrinth break through. You can hardly imagine how they find their ways, but they appear everywhere. Even out of the Hydlaa sewers they came. They had to be held back at their source.

So while the most experienced warriors worked together fighting them back, a second group went on a task close to a suicide mission. Amidison sent people to the arena, to pick up eight barrels of an unstable element from Liera's secret storage, to be delivered to the Eagle Bronze Doors. Slowly. No running. No riding. This trek would take a while. And pass ambush sites...

Rheos led the group, supported by his pals of the Hammer. All the other warriors were spread across Hydlaa first while the trek moved from the arena to the forest. But soon the message spread that they should move ahead on the road to the Bronze Doors to protect the barrel walkers: Anatasia, Baruden, Berun, Diuren, Fittz, Kabitar, Prreta, Rajonae.

Leaving the forest, the next wave of monsters arrived, and so it happened several times along the road. They seemed to know where the barrels were and what they were meant to be used for... When the trek arrived at the entrance to the Eagle Bronze Doors area, the attack was so massive, and the walkers so widely spread apart, that the barrel walkers got hit a few times. One time too often for Prreta who had to leave the trek...

Fortunately, the barrel was secured and picked up by Mishka. So they managed to bring all the barrels up to Aerayau. Unfortunately, there was no time for more than a brief thank-you. All the people were sent back to Amidison. Pretty disappointing. Those with mounts could ride, those without ... heh, don't you mention lemmings! The fortress really needs a Pterosaur station. We may have to organize a demonstration in the Octarch's office, or whatever it takes...

At least the reward we received from Amidison was worth the troubles we had. A monthly income for some, a fortune for others:
Anyone missing rewards due to a late or even missing arrival at Amidison's place shall possibly make a petition, I would suggest... some may have quit at the BD fortress already due to the progressed night time, or didn't know that there are shortcuts to walking the whole road back to Hydlaa.

Thanks to Sarva and fellow GMs for organizing and administrating an outstanding event. I came late, expecting to have missed the action - and still experienced > 150 minutes packed with epic hunts and fierce vilemaulbie-bashing. I hope those who impersonated the beasts had their fun as well. And thanks for the nice summary, LigH. Memorable moments? Facing the big furry ones when no fellow hunters were around, that was quite the thrill of the chase.

  • Mishka producing "out of her sleeve" the eighth barrel, presumed to be lost in Death Realm.
She just found Prreta outside Harn's and disregarded any "Handle with care" warning, making the barrel tumble behind Breeze and letting it roll downhill.

Rumours say that several monsters were specifically scripted NPCs for the event.

But I bet those which attacked specifically the barrel transporters were GMs. If that was wrong, then ... ehm ... NPCs would be able to know your inventory ... terrifying idea ...

Rumors are true but ... who knows if those monsters will succeed in breaking trough the bronze doors again anytime soon?  ;D

I think the event had potential, but didn't live up to its promise. The story was there, but I had hoped for some more roleplay involved from the GM side, the redundant Ulbernaut attacks and the associated laser guns were a little over the top of what I would consider interesting and made it kind of hard to respond to them with roleplay as you had to fear receiving a ranged one hit ticket away from the scene straight to Dakkru.
Next time, I would like to see more player involvement by the GMs (The players themselves did some interesting roleplay in the setting) that goes beyond fighting, i.e. building defenses (I loved the idea that some stood guard at the Hydlaa gates!). Pushing a barrel isn't exactly what I consider fulfilling involvement in an event.

I had been looking forward to this, my first 'event' in PS, and was there throughout, running all the way from DR to the action at least twice, and then all the way back to Hydlaa, but due to not knowing I had to 'sign up', I wasn't included and didn't get the rewards. Lesson learned for next time!

It's possible I missed the important instructions due to a crash right at the beginning and the lag with 'only' 50+ players was insane at times.

Lovthis joined some other townsfolk at the North gates and helped (in a very small way!) to kill one 'naut, but the second one did for her. She then decided to look for the action and ran straight into a big battle between the 'nauts and a lot of magic users.
"It's a good job I can run backwards while firing off arrows!", she thought as the Maulber advanced on her.
It was chaotic! She took to the high ground and loosed of a couple of hundred arrows before the area was declared clear.

She knew her arrows were next to useless against the 'nauts, but Lovthis kept firing, enjoying the sport. She was single-minded in her attacks and even between battles, nothing could break her concentration. If others had tried to engage her in conversation, it was as a fly buzzing around her head, a minor distraction as she scanned the hills and valleys searching for her next target.

Only once did she call out a warning, the walkers had moved forward towards the entrance to the Bronze doors and Lovthis, atop the cliff, was re-packing her arrows and shouldering her bow, readying to overtake the walkers again. Suddenly, another 'naut appeared below her in the narrow pass.
"Behind you!", she shouted, hoping someone would hear, and then started raining arrows down on the beasts head.

She wasn't sure where the magic users came from, some from the rear of the walkers, some from further back possibly, but soon the creature was dispatched. She made her way back to the cliff edge to check if the way was clear. There was a sound from below the cliff, indescribably loud, and then she was in the Death Realm. "The sneaky (untranslatable)!", she thought to herself as she began, once again, the long trek to the fortress.

I will enjoy to confirm your presence. Remember the whisper? It was related to your name and the name of another character.

I've already been told there's nothing can be done, but I'll definitely make sure I know what's going on next time!

I am in a similar situation, and had to leave a bit early (after the barrels were delivered and accepted, but before the return to Hydlaa). It seems I am not getting the rewards either, even though the Event is shown as Completed.

As much as I enjoyed the event, a bitter taste stays.

Good event overall.  The instantcast flagged GM-mobs were annoying, but Kaerli was actually able to pull range on them a couple of times  :sorcerer:
