Title: Liscense for Creatures
Post by: Kuiper7986 on June 07, 2003, 06:21:19 pm
For any creatures whether it be a Petosaurus, horse, or any type of animal you can ride. You would need a liscense and accomplish a quest to be able to ride any animal. I think riding an animal is more fo a priviledge than a right.

Yep, nothing any working class person should be able to do ;). But seriously, you\'re right.

Maybe there could be a certain government institution which would go through all the apliances for licenses, seeing wether you\'re worthy or not. This (before people start asking) is an npc job. No real players (corruption, flaws, etc have been discussed a thousand times before.), make this an npc thing !

So before applying you make shure you have enough money to buy the animal, apply for a license and then you get your answer immediately. Human officials would have to take time to see wether you\'re worthy of the animal or not, these npc\'s could have it checked in no time. This adds to the fun for the player.

I think that\'s why. Not everybody should be able to just ride a flying animal when they feel like doing so, and just hapen to have enough money. It says on the PS homepage. \"Travelling: the elite way\". So this is something which isn\'t much work (adding one building per major city, to deal with flying animals appliances, and you got a system thatworks, and makes shure not everybody gets to ride these flying animals...

First, you need to FIND a trained animal (or train it yourself), and the sky wont be swarming Petosaurus\'s exactly.. and if you find one, it will cost a bloody fortune. An animal isnt something you trade for a beer-mug :).

EDIT: A Petosaurus costs 45\'000 tria. A pint costs 2 tria.

I dont think pets would be a good idea at all, just seems kind of childish.  Reminds me of games like ragnorak, which is really a crappy game in my opinion compared to many others I have played before.

Has anyone forgotten that there\'s a skill involved? Quoth the player guide:

Quote
Riding land based is relatively simple and we will not add this as a primary skill. However riding winged creature is very hard and can be dangerous if you are not careful. Being able to ride a winged creature like a pterosaur, will allow to travel quickly from one part of the city to another, even from level to level. With an high rank of this skill you will be able to use a winged creature also for fights. The type of creature you can ride also depends on the skill rank.

So no, an average joe can\'t go and ride a mount just because he has one. They have to be trained. From what I gather, you even have to be trained somewhat to ride a land animal, but it\'s not technically a skill. This is plenty of a limitation, and if we should add more then I definately think it should be more imaginative and sensical than completing a quest. No offense, but that\'s something they\'d do in EQ.

Hmm, you\'re right. We shouldn\'t overreact in adding restrictions. That\'s just no fun. Yup, that convinced me Sakiro.  :)

Well when animals enter PS i really want a cat or a bird if its possible and goddamn it if some licence is gonna stop me from taming a little wild black cat. It would really suck if i would have to have a licence to have a cat a dog or whatever. also it would be unrealistic!
Maybe it would be alright to require a licence for a dragon or something, but for a dog, horse, cat, bird, rat, bunny, bat, butterfly, beetle, cow, goblin, chicken, camel, snail, donkey, pig, worm and so on it would be crap! However i think that a limit of two tamed creatures would be good because of lag.

Then you should choose the animal-trainer job. Or maybe the hunter.

I don\'t think you should need a license, I just think it should be damn hard to get the skills required to ride flying animals, you know, put skill reqs on required skills, like for one thing, to ride a flying animal, you should need to know every move it\'s going to make, so animal empathy should be one requirement, as well as whatever is required to ride an animal in the first place, such animals should be very hard to find, and so on, you know? how would an NPC know if you\'re qualified to fly or not, it\'s not like it can exactly give you a drivers exam... wait, lemme take that back, who know\'s what the npc of the future will be able to do, hell, one might even be able to have intelligent conversation and seduce you in the future...
