Has anybody seen this show?
Anyone?
In all seriousness, I remember seeing very early episodes of this playing on the TV when I was a kid - back in the 70's. I liked some of the episodes, but others, I just didn't get at the time. I never really followed it seriously.
Fast forward about 3 to 4 decades. So I'm talking to my son and out of nowhere he starts talking to me about a TARDIS. I was like, "What the hell? Flashback!" He continues explaining to me about how its bigger on the inside than the outside, blah blah blah. I said yes, I know - It's used for traveling though time and space. He was shocked that I knew this and vice versa.
Anyway... I've taken a new interest in this show and have started watching the episodes from 2005 (Ninth Doctor). Is anyone else interested in this?

All I know about it is the Timelords of the KLF doctorin' the Tardis. I wish I had the chance to watch the original series again.
-
They have both the original and newer series on Netflix.
( I don't think its all of the originals... not sure )
-
I started on the Ninth Doctor - haven't seen the previous ones but I've been meaning to catch up on my Eleven and watch the original. I friggin' love that show.
-
I keep thinking that there's something to that show which would work well in rp.
-
I started on the Ninth Doctor
Me too: I was looking for Fourth Doctor's episodes (episodes that, sadly, I wasn't able to find anywhere :( )... so, I finally watched these newer Doctors' series (nice, not bad, and I think Tenth and Eleventh Doctors are better than the Ninth one: Donna Noble and the Ponds were good people).
But, the real (stupid, I already know :) ) question is:
So, Rigwyn, did your son find a TARDIS, somewhere :o ?
and, trying to be less stupid:
I keep thinking that there's something to that show which would work well in rp.
This sentence is a bit too obscure, perhaps. But it sounds believable, anyway.

1. He found a tardis in minecraft - there a dr who modpack for it.
2. Let me rephrase: I like the idea of incorporating the story format from dr who into a role play. I just don't have the specifics figured out yet.

Hello all. I started watching the original Dr Who in the 1980s with the fifth doctor-Peter Davison. Later, my local PBS channel showed episodes from all the way back to William Hartnell the first Doctor through I think Davison, or maybe the sixth Colin Baker. So, I saw at that time, the very first Dr Who episode of the original series. Which was pretty neat. I watch the current series as well, and enjoy it. Yeah, I am a Whovian and proud of it. :)

I never liked it. The endings always seemed improbable and forced. Deus ex machina.
Also... Too many tears. Too many dramatics. Too affected.

Barty Crouch is best Doctor
In all seriousness, I think David Tennant is hot

I must disagree, Tom Baker, the 4th Doctor, was the best. Watched him on PBS. My kids hated the show but one of my grandkids is a Whovian. \\o//

I have to admit, I own a tardis mug. The tardis fades slowly when adding something hot then reappears when the mug cools.
I made fun of my brother when I saw him watching some of the old black and white shows because of the ridiculously amateurish costumes and effects. Then after sitting and actually watching a few, I got hooked! The mysteries drew me in.... kinda like PS... not the best graphics, but good stories (RP) to be found!

I like the way the stories are flowing. I agree with this bit about the bad costumes, effects, and the terribly convenient mechanisms that get them out of trouble but somehow, I feel OK about forgiving these things and suspending my disbelief for a while.

Watch a show called Derek. Worth it.

I may possibly have occasionally perhaps terrified my cat by having her chased by a remote control dalek...
A lot of the episodes have been filmed in places I sort of grew up in, so some of the other worlds you see in it feel less alien to me.
