It really depends on your system setup.  For me ( 2GHz 768MB RAM Redhat 7.2) it only takes about 50 - 60 seconds.  On other systems it takes longer and on others it takes a really long time.  This is something that we will have to look at and I am sure it will get better when to take the time to optimize things some more.  But optimization at this point is not really and effective use of our resources.
