Title: AUDIO Skype Build-In System For Guilds
Post by: Adash on March 16, 2014, 04:08:28 am
Are thera any plans in the near future where guild members log in and actually are in constant communication audio wise; and can verbally talk through headsets to each other?  It would be nice to know my guild members in person OOC, their character personality IC mannerisms, and instant ability to agree or disagree about all actions......

Quite certainly not (at least not soon, if at all). There are already working external solutions (TeamSpeak, Mumble).

Both Hangouts and Skype are proprietary protocols - fail. If you need audio or video conferencing, use XMPP/Jingle or SIP.

By the way: Mumble supports PlaneShift (among many other games) by being able to display the list of participants with activity flags as overlay in the OpenGL game window.

Mumble also has a plugin that you can implement in your game which supports 3d, so if you are to the right of someone you hear him from the right.
