I reinstalled my system a week ago, now I have Linux Mint 16 (based on Ubuntu 13.10) with Catalyst 14.4 RC. After resintall, Planeshift cant start, pslaunch and psclient produces a similar error:
crystalspace.window.x: XOpenIM() failed
crystalspace.canvas.glx2d: Failed to open the X-Window!
Is there a solution for this?

did you activate some input method for asian characters or something similar?

When I was running (ubuntu 13.xx) with unity/gnome3 I usually switched my session to the gnome failsafe.. Allthou ps ran ok with all the compositing turned on it ran much better without and had better loading times than before.
These days I run debian with KDE and I made a window rule that x-compositing is turned off while ps is running.
In the installdirectory you will find a file called errorlog.txt, have a look there to see what's going on;

There is no log file in the install directory. I will check if compositing can be disabled in Cinnamon
