Title: Hay question about pregnancy?
Post by: Sarren on May 02, 2014, 08:26:02 pm
So me and Sulaika are expecting IG but we are not sure how to go about playing out how long it would take for elves it is 2 years gestation and that in IG time is 106 days but that seems too fast, would anyone be overly upset if we extened that some?

and you know it is serious if I am posting on the forums

You may be more serious about this, than most of us are about time progressing in game... ;)

That depends on your partners. Most others may hardly notice roleplays they are unable to witness. So they are unable to even know who's in relation, who's pregnant, who's with children... until they overhear you talking about it.

Game time progresses at the same speed as real time.

I prefer to play closer to a real life time scale. It makes things simpler, and doesn't mean my character has slept for 4 days when I log off. Though others prefer to play by the in-game clock. There is nothing wrong with this. You RP the way you feel works best for your situation. No one is going to grind your gears if you decide to mess with the time scale in your RP to make things more realistic/interesting in the long run.

I prefer to play closer to a real life time scale. (...) Though others prefer to play by the in-game clock.
As far as I understood, the scale of the in-game clock applies only to the time of the day, but the relation to RL dates (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=37468.0) is rather on a 1:1 scale. The apparent discrepancy has been explained with different time zones and habits of game activity in the player base.

The link confirms my previous statement.

If you don't want to deal with pregnancy, use protection. :P

Sarras, then look up Miadon in this link. Its different. So you can't say its a 1:1

4 hours =  1 PS day
 24 hours =  6 PS days
 48 hours = 12 PS days
 96 hours = 24 PS days
120 hours = 30 PS days
128 hours =  5 days  8 hours = 32 PS days  = 1 PS month
10 days 16 hours  = 2 PS months
16 days  0 hours  = 3 PS months
32 days  0 hours  = 6 PS months
53 days  8 hours  = 1 PS year
106 days 16 hours = 2 PS years
213 days 8 hours  = 4 PS years
320 days 0 hours  = 6 PS years
365 days 0 hours  = 6 PS years 8 months 14 days

For a long time, the official answer was that it's "groundhog day." In other words, every day is the same day.

The final consensus was that one real day was equal to one PS day. It's been discussed many times, and that was what most players agreed on.

It's nearly impossible to make everyone age their chars at a certain rate. Child characters are fine, but as the "years" go by the server will not age with them. In the past, pregnancies have been role played for about one RL month to lend the RP believability. But I repeat, as the child ages, your chars may age, but do not make expectation that others will follow suit. (I clarify only because this has been discussed before ;) )

As an oviporous race, I find the negative connotations put on the beautiful act of egg laying with this phrase deeply insulting.

Our births are no less miraculous than your live, squaling babes! Take a stand against the hate! Hatchlings are not lesser!

Here's a question. Can you use a divination spell to figure out if it's a boy or girl?

A logician would give you a correct answer without casting any spell: "Yes." ;D
