Ĉu vi parolas Esperanton?
Huh? What's this? Europanto? Esper-what?
Just curious about how many (or if any) folks here speak, or are learning Esperanto?

The only little piece of Esperanto I learned is amikaro (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4YlUjW_CWk). (alternative source (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2bc7n_freundeskreis-esperanto_creation))
Music is the only universal language.

Tell that to someone who can't hear.

Herbert Grönemeyer: Musik nur, wenn sie laut ist (only loud music) — a song about a deaf woman listening to the bass in the music with her whole body

Bah not going to argue about that. I am sorry I hijacked the thread. Maybe someone could translate this comment into Esperanto to get it back on topic ;)

So , it's a constructed language and is intended to be fairly easy to learn - at least for those who speak an Indo-European language already. The vocabulary is latinate and fairly small in comparison to other languages. The words are pronounced as spelled, and correlatives ( who, what, this, that, when, someone, everyone, nobody etc.. ) are fairly easy to predict as they have a formulaic sort of spelling. Words are modified with prefixes and suffixes to form other related words or to change their tense and verbs are all regular and have simple rules for conjugaton. The idea is that if the language is easy to learn the it can be used as a common language or lingua franca.
Kinda nifty...
