IMPORTANT: Change on the prize giving date
We are happy to announce that we had the opportunity to have an Octarchal Cook be a member of our jury. But as the cook is very busy that means we need to delay the prize giving. It will happen at 7th of Azhord at eight o clock in the evening. [OOC: 5th October at 20:00 GMT+2 (CEST)].
Please plan your schedules accordingly.
Now as the prize-giving happens later we thought on what do to for the 30th of Quintal [OOC: 28th September]. And what can be better than: [see below…]
If you visited the Red Crystal Den´s in the last time you noticed some changes in its interior:
As you may have noticed we installed a kitchen. This was for a good reason. Of course for our cook Kabitar and other cooks who want to help out the Den´s cause to offer a great place to meet and have fun… but also… for the very special
Red Crystal Den Delicacy Cooking Contest!
The event will be at the 29th and the 30th of Quintahl at eight o clock in the evening. [OOC: The event will take place at the weekend of 27th and 28th September at 20:00 GMT+2 (CEST). Please correct if I miscalculated Yliakum time :)]
The Red Crystal Den Delicacy Cooking Contest
To the creative cooks among you we present a special contest. You created a dish with some rare ingredients. Or maybe a dish that involves many difficult steps to dress it. Then present your recipe and win one of our stunning prizes. [Expect a specially crafted and unique cooking tool. The 1st prize winner will have her or his recipe added in the corresponding cooking book in game.]
Your dish can be baked or cooked, it can be hearty or sweet.
Rules
Turn in a public book with the name of the dish, a description and some cooking instructions. Try to use ingredients that can be found in Yliakum.
[OOC: The winner will have his or her recipe added in the corresponding cooking book in game, in order to make the process easier for the developers, please use as much as possible the cooking steps we already have in game (Ie: sliced carrots, etc...) adding new one is harder than you can think]
Please bring in your recipes at 29th of Quintahl. [OOC Saturday 27th of September at 20:00 GMT+2 (CEST).]
Jury
A jury will decide for the winners. Please attend the prize-giving at 30th of Quintahl. [OOC: Sunday 28th of September at 20:00 GMT+2 (CEST)]. The winner may cook the dish for anyone who wants to try it in our new kitchen. [Just RP it for now.]
Arm the cooks trade
Turn in a meal that keeps the hunger of five dozen workers at bay and get one of the finest combat kits in return. To clarify that… you have crafted fish delights for a pack of 60 Enki warriors or tin burgers for 60 Kran miners or 60 apple cinnamon pies for one crazy dermorian? Come to the Red Crystal Den and trade the food in for
- a set of finest leather armor or
- a pair of finest steel weapons of your choosing or
- a pair of shields from our mad cub with the hammer without risking your toes
For extra quality or extra amount you may get a combination of these or all of them.
We will continue trading as long as our armory is full and there is still space left in our food stores. It is first come, first serve. [We may not be able to deliver everything at the event itself... depending on how the ones who offered to or can provide them are online or reachable before.]
We will accept dishes on both days after the cooking contest.
Story telling
When we aren´t using the stage of the Red Crystal Den any of you is welcome to step up and sing a song about a cook or tell a story about a baker who tests out the effects of enchanted dishes with unsuspecting guests or something like that.
Everyone brave enough to climb on the stage will get a prize and can keep all the tips that are thrown on the stage.
[Tip givers please /unguard the circles after dropping them]
We may another some other special surprises at a later time.
Damola on behalf of the
The Red Crystal Den Team
[With special thanks to Kabitar for the event idea]
[Also if you are willing to help, please contact me – Damola]

[Please note: The dates and times here in this post are authoritative. The time stated in the event calender is two hours too late - I asked for fixing this and I think it will be fixed soon.]

Where are all the cooks and bakers?

[I'm sorry but I don't understand what is happening on the 28th. It looks like "And what can be better than this:" was supposed to have something after it.]

Hello everyone.
My first post here...
As a replacement for the delayed prize giving we present you a nice RP opportunity.
Pie Eating Contest
(http://damola.lichtvoll.de/events/2014-09-24-pie-eating-contest-invitation/invitation1.png)
You think you can eat more than any other citicen under the dome? Come to the stage of the Red Crystal Den on Quintahl 30th [September 28th at 20:00 GMT+2].
Compete against the other contestants and try to eat more pies than all the others. If you feel sick please use the buckets we provide for your convenience.
And know your limit -- even though we have some potions and other stuff available for medical help, we don´t want to lose contestants to Dakkru because of food indigestion.
Have fun,
Kabitar

Look again :)

[Ah, now I see. Thank you. :)]
-
A little update. So far we have 9 contestants.
Cryptus, Enal, Jemima, Licina, Lorra, Lumi, Solita, Tarotin and Tuon.
Last chance to turn in your recipe will be before the Pie Eating Contest.
Good luck to all contestants.
-
Another chance for all the chefs to turn in recipes :)
Make sure to add your characters name somewhere in the book!!

Wow, what a nice gathering this was. At first I was about to make a face as only two cooks appeared. But determined to host this contest together with Kabitar, I was happy to see more cooks appeared with time. [OOC: People, its still 20:00 GMT+2 (CEST)] :) no matter what the event calender says – and was also okay to appear later, but today be there before the Pie Eating contest starts, last time I would accept any recipe will be 21:00 GMT+2 (CEST), as we then need to hand the recipes to the jury.]
Some of the earlier cooks presenting their recipes:

And then the second round of cooks telling the audience some more details about their recipes:

Also our cute little cub dared to present her Enki recipes on the stage:

Looking forward to the pie eating contest! See you there.
[OOC: Is posting photos IC or OOC? I bet OOC, as… well no digicams in Yliakum I suppose :)]
-
[OOC: I also love to hear feedback about the event. How did you like it so far? Any suggestions for improving?]
-
I'm afraid, I won't be able to make it today.
As you can hear from that, I found the event very good! Very creative, and different kinds of entertainment all the time (contest, music, receipes).
One thing I wonder about: Will the original receipe (books) be displayed in the RCD? Maybe hang then on a wall like pubs have posters on their walls.
-
Nice idea, Sen! I want to have a Red Crystal Den Delicacy Recipe book [even if those won´t be craftable] and I think we will have one.
But for now: Pie Eaters who ever dreamed of eating as much pies as they can, come to the Pie Eating Contest! [It started about 20 minutes ago.]
-
Looks pretty neat ya'll.
I got a question for the RCD staff. Would it be possible to reserve the tavern for an event on a specific date by paying a fee? Like, art fairs or things like that?
Or maybe weddings...? :whistling:
-
Esanor came, saw, and won a delicious meal. He ate as many pies as he enjoyed, and hopes that others enjoyed it too. Well, the first who used a bucket did not, obviously, they ate a little too much, trying to win a contest...

I can not speak for the RCD staff but I can say that they are very open, so you have good chances I think. The only problem could be preventing uninvited guests, after all RCD is a tavern open for everyone.
Great event by the way!

I still do not fully understand what happened to me there. During my last training session in the morning, I finished six pies without any problems. And then this, during the contest, could not even make it two... :-[
Maybe I must practice harder for the next contest!

Or practice less to leave more space in your stomach...

The RCD is available for any event! Just contact me (Waesed) with a pm here or by email via the Ad Libertatem website. You can also contact me or Damola in game.

LigH,
I hereby dub you "joke killer". :D With smiley this time...

Nothing beats a punchline battle.
Was this above statement too violent? ;)

Okay, so the Pie Eating Contest is over as well.
While it started slowly and participants where late, it grew into a wonderful competition. [With lots of great roleplay, thanks!]
We even had an inofficial contestant who didn´t event wait for the beginning of the contest, while a brave dwarf was quite confident to be able to eat all the cakes by himself – a confidence that to my memory didn´t last very long [ :D]:
We had several rounds and our cute cub was so hungry to start in the first round:
But she also ate too much and needed to be cared for and given a digestion potion. That didn´t hinder her to want to eat more cakes later on.
In generally dwarves and enkis were quite fond of eating lots of cakes – as the second round shows:
We had quite some spectators to the contest as well:
And almost unbelievable the lady who was helping to organize the event was into eating pies as well – but unlike other contestant she did so gracefull and by cutting the pie in several handsome pieces:
And here we have the two organizers of the event:
Thanks a lot to Kabitar for having the original idea for this event and its rules and for helping with it. He moderated the whole event!

And eventually, the finals and the prizes. Well, that was some special event.
At first we had the biggest stomaches rewarded with finest tools to cut pies into pieces ... or anything that may fit their blades better. Respect to the smith, the Way of the Hammer was impressed about the quality of Esanor's rewards for the third place. But noone could beat the royal stomach of Korenis Cheshire.
And then the delegation of the Food Association arrived. And ... uhm, polarized. One of them behaved like the chef of the whole octarchy, affronting visitors and even finalists in the cooking contest with deprecative conclusions about their cooking skills (especially disqualifications with far-fetched reasons), but appeared to be just one of many apprentices after all. The other instead appeared to be a good teacher, knowing the essentials about treating pupil respectfully and encouraging them to improve. So after all, everyone won at least a little present, like Solita a well deserved pair of oven gloves, and every participant at least a higher quality kitchen knife of the Den. But the knives for the three finalists were of extraordinary quality, and Licina's recipe for "Hearty Flat Pies" even will get added to the official cooking books of the Food Association.
\\o// Congratulations!
Unfortunately, I forgot a few names (my logs are elsewhere now), some of you can certainly complete the list.
And Damola, sorry, Solita forgot to hand you a copy of her "Kartoffel Casserole" recipe. Next time...
-
Hmm, no official results yet?
-
Damola clears her throat and announces with great pleasure:
The winners of the cooking contest where:
1. Licina with her Hearty Flat Pie.
With the original idea of a hearty pie, instead of a sweet one she wins a knife of exceptional quality: The Platinum Chef´s Knife.
Also I am proud to announce that the Food Association agreed to add her recipe to the official cookbooks!
2. Lorra with her Apple Juice and Trout and Carp Gorla
I am happy to see the recipe to put the abundant apples with all our apple trees to good use. She wins very good nife as well: The Gold Chef´s Knife. And I am happy that it looks good to have her Apple Juice recipe added to an official brewery book.
3. Enal with his Mineral Rush.
With the only recipe for our Kran citizens Enal won the well made Bronze Chef´s Knife.
While I was less amused with the harsh and disrespectful words of the apprentice cook Mourole, I am more than happy about what our beloved Food Association cook Seduna said afterwards. After pointing out the uniqueness of Mourole´s oppinion she also emphasized the effort Solita put into cooking her recipe at the Den´s right at the Recipe Take-In evening. And also welcomed the recipes our cute cub Jemima turned in.
She gave nice oven gloves to Solita and a good wooden spoon to Jemima!
As we appreciate the effort of every cook who turned in a recipe all cooks who did not receive an other knife got a Chef´s Knife.
As you are aware, we didn´t only do a Delicacy Contest, but also a Pie Eating Contest.
I am happy to announce the winners officially of the Pie Eating Contest as well:
1. With almost five pies: Lord Chesire!
He got five digestion potions, just in case he wants to dive his noble face into that lot pies again. Also he got a fuil suit of perfectly made armor!
For eating the pies in such a fierce manner [i.e. for good roleplay] Kabitar then handed him a a perfectly made scoop as well.
2. Falmer.
We honored him last time already. But he may approach Damola to get two more digestion potions for his alchemy studies!
3. Esanor: With 2 and a half pies.
He got two digestion potions from me.

Damola ponders and memorizes:
What a nice event the prize giving was.
This time already as I opened quite some fellow citizens waited outside, including two eager cooks who turned in a recipe for the contest:
Lot of people wanted to know the winners of the pie eating contest – Kabitar announced them:
Licina, the winner of the cooking contest received her prize – also as you can see our inofficial Pie Eating contestant, the cute little Yulbar was again with us:

After the harsh and disrespectful words of the cook apprentice Mourole the honorable Seduna recognized the efforts of our cute little tabei Jemima, our youngest contestant:
