Title: Yliakum sewer and toilet situation
Post by: Pierre on October 06, 2014, 07:12:52 am
Dear all, this is not really a complaint, more of an inquiry and/or suggestion.

Tonight in game during a particularly scintillating gossip conversation, the fact that there are no toilets in Yliakum dawned upon me.

Is it difficult to make a pottie in each of the pubs?

I think there are some great RP opportunities for these small closet like rooms - people fight in toilets, fall asleep in them, and even use them to go to the bathroom.  Amoung other things.

Anyway, if this is possible - though it's probably not, because I remember making a petition to raise the bed canopies in Amdeneir (those gorgeous blue beds, so comfy and gorgeous) because we can't shove ourselves into them, the canopy is too low to allow the beds to be used -

and somehow that banner was never taken up.  So the rats sleep like angels in Amdeneir.  But now, a more pressing issue, of toilets.

Maybe it is too much of a pain to implement?  Or other more pressing issues exist?  Although I think this is pressing, really pressing.

I think it would develop into an excuse for people making emotes about using the bathroom that take up main. Or for things like the character that liked to have explosive diarrhea everywhere he went... However, that is not to say there aren't chamber pots around. But it's probably best we don't encourage people to RP in toilet rooms as it can go badly quite quickly. :sweatdrop:

Illysia, cracking up, that's precisely the kind of RP I would like to encourage!!

No I'm kidding.  But it's so nice to imagine getting in a heated conversation in Kada-El's, then excusing yourself to go to the toilet, collecting your wits, and returning refreshed.

I think it would be great.  But ok, chamber pots would do too.  I like that idea.  I'm just tired of RPing going down to the sewers...

Also, what about bathtubs? You'd think at the very least the Octarch would have a nice, luxurious basin in his house.

I remember I have seen 3D models of a whole bathroom once (at least a Blender render). But somehow I doubt they will be implemented, even if they can be found again...

There should be a spell and glyph for this so that you don't need to go to the bathroom. Just touch the glyph and then *bling* it just magically appears in the sewers to some poor gobble's dismay.  I mean seriously, why would bother with going to the john if could just magically make it go away. This would be great for warriors who are suddenly struck with the urge to go during fearsome battles or miners who would rather muck themselves than take a break.

I propose that for convenience and of course, for good hygiene, every citizen of Yliakum is issued two glyphs: A yellow one with little waves on it for number one, and a brown one with a shape that resembles a loaf of bread on it for number two.

Elvi, Riggy, gross (where is the disgusted emoji??)!!

Bathtubs...I didn't think about that...but even if we could get in, like sneak in somehow (surely someone would help us do that), it's kind of disrespectful to use the Octarch's tub as a toilet.

I think we're in the old prairie gold rush days of Yliakum - kind of wild and rough - we bathe in the fountain, pee in the sewers or on windowsills (apparently) - but maybe it's time to become even more civilized.

Chamber pots, size small to use for a toilet and size large for a tub.  Actually, we already have buckets.  I guess we could just put a couple of buckets in a corner of each of our three taverns.

Speaking of which, I wonder if the Eagle Bronze Doors fortress will have a tiny pub put in, once we can fly there?  Just a tiny one.  Maybe in the future.

EDIT:  [Just saw Rigwyn's reply, cracking up - love the idea - but those are moments of contemplation - lost - those moments in the lavatory - no, I cannot get behind the glyph idea -]

But I have to say this - the glyph idea is absolutely brilliant.

The klyros in the tutorial could discreetly press a small glyph bag into the hands of the newlings passing into Hydlaa.

Actually they do... they just leave sludge behind is all. Well, that is if they don't have problems passing such sludge...

[Candy, I was kidding, I knew you meant how do we maintain all body FRESHNESS, not where do we eliminate, let's say :) ]

Kran...I thought they were like stone rabbits, passing little stone pebbles...never thought of sludge (disgusted emoji again!)...

The problem is not that they pass sludge but rather that someone was nosy enough to inquire. :P

or nosy enough to follow Bilbous around and see what he does in his private moments....

Either way someone needs to be mindful of nosy people following them around. :whistling:

Sludge? I thought it was dust, like the way most household dust is shed skin particles. I guess things have changed since last I cared to look.

The dust comes from eroding joints actually which is why we have to keep the Stonehead swept so much and the kran fed. All those eroding joint minerals must be replaced. :D

it's been so long since I've been in jail, I do not remember a bucket there, I love this

If there was a toilet before, I hope it can be brought back one day...
