Title: Greece: The Musical Chairs

Curious as to what any of you think.  Not just about that paradoxically rather ridiculous but laudable populist charitable attempt.

And, for good measure, it's the Euromonster

Interesting idea, but I don't see it working.

1mm Euros raised so far... 50 billion or so more to go. It's an interesting idea, but that's a lot of dough to raise. Also, giving Greece a handout like this would not do anything for the underlying problems that lead to this point.

On a side note, it would be interesting to see if there were any logistical problems with transferring this sort of wealth through indiegogo. At that scale, a transfer of money would affect the values of other world currencies - triggering a lot of trading activity as a result. Large investors who have already transferred their wealth to other currencies would be very quick to re-balance their holdings in order to avoid being affected by the transfer.

Because this is really nothing more than an effort to get people to purchase greek goods for export, I wonder why they don't just go for something like that.  Maybe they just don't understand economics?
“Sure, I'd love to go vacationing in Greece.  What, you can only arrange this for Eurozone citizens?”

I hadn't even considered the currency–market effects, Rigwyn.
