Waesed and Damola will be hosting a meeting of all interested parties concerning the future of the Red Crystal Den on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 4PM EDT/20:00 UTC.
Anyone may attend and discuss where we are going to go.
This will be an IC event.

Waesed nope this is an icmeeting for the staff only, as we need to find our vision there. I guess you missunderstood.

As there is really no staff because of lack of interest, don't you think we might drum some up by being inclusive? Three or four of us aren't going to come up with anything new. We need new blood and new ideas.
-
Yes we do have new ideas which we will share there. It's about evolving a vision.
-
We need new blood and new ideas.
Yes!
I hope the RCD can be opened up like the hospital, it's truly an underused resource.
I hope anyone with ideas on how to keep it open, 24-7 so all zones can use it, will chime in, either in this meeting, if cdmoreland's suggestion is taken to make it inclusive, or in a subsequent meeting which would be open to all.
It sounds like the main problem was locking down the excellent props as well as keeping the kitchen grind free. Can the visions evolve towards solving these issues?
-
I have a character who is ICly staff but has no key. I can't make the meeting, though. For the record, as a player, I support leaving it open all the time.

Waesed, as Sulaika told, the intention was to have this an meeting of the people who were last active in the RCD team. To my this has been clear. To invite more player participation after that when we have some RP background to offer on how to evolve the RCD by in game activity.
While I think this way around is also a way we can go, next time, please coordinate with the rest of us. I kept you in the loop and made every move of myself regarding the RCD transparent to you and invited your feedback – since the time you asked me to. Please do so as well with Sulaika, Sian and me. This is about team work as that is what the RCD requires. Thank you.
As you posted the announcement here now anyway, I suggest we go with invitating anyone interested, but I want to make one clear point:
At this state I am interested only in people who want to dedicate *some* time and energy to make changes for the RCD happen. Cause I think it is only fair that these players who actually do the work decide on the future course of the RCD.
There are a lot of people wanting this or that or this for the RCD. But so far the offers to really help to make it happen, have been rare. It is still my oppinion that just opening the place 24/7 will make it just another Kada El´s (without NPC, but honestly is that such a big difference?). So what makes the RCD so special in my oppinion still is: People invest time and energy to create and hold a space to RP in it. That people open it and they are no NPCs, but can really be talked to and interacted with in creative ways.
Or to make is really blunt and short: I think we do not need more people just *discussing* things about the RCD, but more people who are willing to invest time and energy to actually in the game evolve the RCD into place that is filled with more life.
I know this is challenging given that in the last weeks I often saw less than 20 or 15 people online in PS in total at the time I was logged in. But still I want to have at least an attempt to build a larger team around the RCD. Whether that team evolves the RCD in to a place that is open 24/7 or not, remains to be seen and depends on whether that team wants this or not.
So please keep that in mind when attending. *Some* time and energy really means just *some* time and energy. I am not into making it an obligation. But I think the RCD needs some kind of longer term commitment in order to evolve. As with the hospital, without Mariana and some other players moving it along in a regular basis, it would be a dull and boring place.

Waesed, there is staff, even if its a small team yet, and there are ideas. Saying there isn´t is disregarding the work we already did. Some the ideas of Damola I even shared with you already. Only ideas isn´t going to make anything happen tough, people doing the work will make it happen. For that see my last post. So I don´t think there is a lack of ideas. There was a lack of players wanted to dedicate time and energy.
Sulaika and I wanted to invite further players after this initial ig meeting in a more coordinated way. But well, in case there are players around who are willing to help to make things happen, I welcome you anytime. Just whisper to me in game or send PM. This has been true already and thats how Sian joined us recently. This in game meeting we intended about collecting ideas for a setting and way on how to evolve the RCD and invite more player involvement.
So at this time, please check whether you are in for a longer term commitment for the RCD.
-
A longer term commitment? Put it this way, I ain't dead yet. ;D
I can assure everyone that the RCD will not be open without an attendant. (Unless the GM Team rips it from my cold dead hands. :P)
-
/me rubs his hands & grabs some popcorn "a team of 3 members, and they can't find an agreement, this will be funny with a full working team..."
BTW who is the leader of the RCD team ? I may have a proposal
-
I'll try to attend the meeting.
-
Waesed hasn't heard any of my ideas. And this meeting was meant to discuss intern the ideas and make a vision and then go outside. It isn't exclusive, but exactly a point of understanding and agreement between each other and working with each other. So all different now and including yes, which is good, but it would have happen after the intern meeting on another point as well, to not make wrong ideas in this. All I ask is for a constructive meeting. Its about brainstorming and finding goals and a vision. And as I need to get up early the next day due to work, I dont want it to become a bad argument of 5 or 6 hours. So whoever joins in, prepare yourself for it. Thank you.

Sulaika, While it is true that you haven't put forward your ideas to me, I thought that this was to be an IC role-play meeting. OOC discussions can happen at anytime with group chat, emails or even here in the forum without the need for meeting in a set location.
I guess I misunderstood Damola but she said that I could invite anyone I wanted. I have found there to be much greater interest in the RCD since this has come up, hence, I announced it here for others, some who have been involved and whom I have no way to contact, to those that have an interest and didn't know how to get involved.
The RCD has played a unique role in PS and I would like to see that continue.
-
Well I see speaking about the future of the Den also as IC roleplay meetings. So it would fail for me to discuss this ooc only. Otherwise I would have shared my ideas already. But its okay now. Its done. My only wish is that we will get good results on friday and that we can write them down and turn them into action. And I know that the RCD has a unique role in PS. I have been here since 2008. And I've known Aiwendil and Lhaa. If I wouldn't know the unique role of the Den in PS, my heart wouldn't beat for the Den anymore.
-
Update: Of course Jerada also attended. Sorry and thanks Waesed, Sulaika for making me aware.
I think we had a quite productive meeting this evening. Waesed, Jerada, Sulaika, Jilerel and I attended. No one else knocked on the door of the Red Crystal Den´s during the time.
Sulaika made notes which I extended and categorized. We have concrete TODOs with first ideas on who will do what and I hope you can soon see first changes that invite more player participation on various levels. I may post this summary later on after Waesed and Sulaika reviewed it and if they agree with sharing it here. Unless you want to be surprised by some of the changes :)
-
Will there be more IC meetings? Myself and other North Americans would appreciate one that makes sense for our time zone.
-
Candy, let me knowa good time for you. I'm in Ohio.
-
I'm in the Pacific time zone and am usually on somewhere from 6:30-9 PM. Sundays are the only one I can be on during the day for sure, myself, but even if there's a Saturday meeting that others can attend that'd still be good for player involvement.
-

We definately intend to have more in game meetings of RCD team members. I agree that it is good to have them in different time zones. It is good that Waesed is in a different time zone than me and Sulaika.
I am comfortable with having meetings where not all members of the RCD (core) team are present. But I ask to coordinate major changes to the Den´s with the team.
-
So as Sulaika and Waesed agreed with me posting it, here are the ideas and task assignments from the in game meeting we had on Friday.
Currently we do not intend to open the place unattended. It would require some work to lock everything down and we want to focus to improve the opening times and make it way more obvious and easy for players to rent the place instead. With some trust and the security guarantee deposited this can even work at times when no one of the RCD team can attend, I´d say. So just show that you can give back the key and the place in one piece, and we give out the key again :).
And the RCD will be hiring. Expect job postings, but also feel free to contact either Waesed, Sulaika and/or me in case you want to work at the Den´s starting from now.
Also if your an artist and want to help us with flyers, materials for the billboard, updating the menu card and things like that, please contact us. If you are an artist we know about, expect to be contacted by us about it :).
Please allow for some time for us to implement all the ideas. We welcome help. Thank you.
More and more regular events.
Concrete ideas:
- Mini / small events like: {Damola/Sulaika}
- All you can eat Flat pie nights for one circle. Ravynne offered help for the Flat Pies making {Waesed}
- All you can eat for Kran as well {Waesed}
- Xiosia´s blessing: Bring in your harvest and we cook together. {Damola}
- Art Evening: Always wanted to have some audience for your newly made song, fire show or other performance. Come to the art evening, go on the stage. {Damola, Sulaika?}
- Once a month an event of the Den {Waesed?}
- Seminars and workshops on weekends: A trainer trains people in how to cook, make herbals, craft something and with the cooperation of the octarchy we can even hand out some crafting books. [Sulaika]
- More public planning on events. Announce via flyers, billboard. [And in forum to ask for ideas and help with organizing them] {Everyone?}
Better information and advertising
- Flyers on events and more. We need artist help to create some. {Sulaika asks Dannae. Damola asks in forum for help}
- Billboard in front of Red Crystal Den. {Damola talks to Octarchy about this}
- A sign about what is the Den´s, its history and who manages the place, whom to contact with inquiries for events. [Also in forum] {Waesed}
- A special flyer for Renting the Den for parties and events -> security guarentee like an amount of tria or an rare item for the key {Damola}
- Job posting, describing them completely with offer to pay for the work done. {Sulaika}
- Bartenders
- Cooks
- Musicions and other artists.
- Guards [Suggestion by Jirerel and Sulaika]. Maybe good with martial arts skills, so without full armor and weaponry and at discretion of the one who opens whether to have guards or not. Maybe in front of Den´s even in full armor and weaponry. {Sulaika, well make an suggestion for review:)}
- Maybe people who help with organizing events?
- Torches for new players, so they can find the way to the Red Crystal Den more easy. {Waesed}
- A sign when the Den is open. {Damola for first draft}
Enlarge the RCD team
- Characters in any guilds can join.
- Share the work on more shoulders so that it remains fun for everyone.
- Requires a low long term commitment. Open it at least once, preferably twice a month. It is quite an easy commitment. Of course you can open more often. But some commitment is needed in order to qualify for a key.
- The job postings of course.
- Forum announcement and posting.
- We need more keys anyway {Waesed petitions Octarchy about it}
- Concrete ideas for additions to the team:
- Waesed, Sulaika and me each have one player/char we want to contact and invite to the team
- I don´t want to give names before these players agreed to help out
-
One more note about guards: Damola is fine with each one who opens to cater for safety individually. So anyone who opens and wants a guard, even if in full armor and weaponry, go ahead. If you intend to open together with Damola… well, I trust in our RP capabilities. :)
Of course Damola expects decent, high standard behaviour of the guards. If you are into playing a guard who bosses guests around without good reason… well then better make sure Damola doesn´t get to know about it. ;)
And nope, of course this isn´t an invitation to RP things. If you read anything like this into my message, you are completely off track. ;D
-
I love these ideas! When I get back I'm sure Demagul would be happy to help with the public herbal workshops :D
-

They have. :o
